Let's be real, nobody actually plays any of the other games in the series except for W3 right? It seems like the majority of players jumped into 3 without any of the context of the previous game's set up, characters, or world building. Doesn't help the first two games are janky messes, but still. Would anybody here actually recommend the first two games to a newcomer unironically?

Yes.
You're not going to play them though, so why ask?

theyre great and better than 3

Sure.

In what possible way?

Maybe not 1, it's pretty rough around the edges. I didn't mind that but I know most people do.

I liked 2 more, especially the darker tone and linear world

Yeah, I played two, then three. But i had no idea three came out until 5 years later. Played it, loved it, and loved it more the second time around two years ago.

Such an awesome game, I know people complain about the combat. But I actually liked the janky combat because it added more of a challenge.

For the Dutchess.

I played the 1st one in 2009 by pure random chance. I had 10 bucks left on one of those prepaid visa card things and it was about to expire so I just searched for rpg games on steam that were 10 bucks and The Witcher 1 was one of them so I just bought that. I got Witcher 2 day 1 and Witcher 3 day 1.

2 was way better, I remember being hyped for 3, I pre-ordered it, when it released played it for an hour and dropped the turd until a decade later I finished my playthrough

It's a game, it has real gameplay instead of being some unholy crossbreeded mutt between Arkham Asylum, Ubishit open world stuff and mass effect 3

I don't know or care what the hivemind consensus on this is.
>Would anybody here actually recommend the first two games to a newcomer unironically?
Yes. You can always drop any game you're not having fun with.

I liked 2, better story game than all that slop sony is shitting out.
>>
Witcher 2 is worse mechanically and in graphics, but it's way way superior in writing. It's my favorite vidya, but I played it so much over the years that I'm kinda burned out on it.
>>
3s story just grabs you from the start
>>
>>743404361
The first two were awful
>>
>>743404361
I remember enjoying 2 but I remember nothing about it. I played 1 for about 45 minutes before saying fuck it
>>
>>743404361
I've only played the first one. It was pretty alright.
>>

There is no consensus. Every thread is full of people saying that 3 is the worst and anyone who likes it is retarded arguing with people saying that 2 is the worst and anyone who likes it is retarded.

I read the books, and played the first two. Honestly I was a little disappointed with the whole amnesia storyline, but it was nice when Geralt's bros would pop up along the way. The first game is cozy, and drinking with Dandelion and Zoltan was nice.

I am surprised though that the third game didn't have repeating contracts once you complete all of them. Makes the world feel kind of empty after since you can't go hunt a monster, then slam some drinks down at the inn after.
