>>743411048I'm surprised by how much people struggle with the battles in this game. I thought the new boss was too easy. I beat it in two attempts, and the only reason I didn't first try it was because I got greedy with healing items. I saw people were saying it was on par with the antler boss, and that's just crazy to me. I think they should have spread out the difficult of the attacks. The bombs are way too hard, but the rest of her attacks are too easy.

It popularized the genre, and it and its sequel are arguably still the best games within it.Unlike modern "dating sims" which are linear visual novels with (maybe) a handful of choices that let you choose between one of a handful of girls, Tokimeki Memorial is a sprawling open ended strategy game. You take the role of a high school boy with the straightforward goal: get a girlfriend by the end of highschool.The gameplay loop is simple.The game is played be selecting how you spend each week of highschool. You have an array of stats. What you choose to do effects how your stats grow, and in turn, how your stats grow effects what girls you meet and how interested they are in you. You can spend turns going on dates with the girls. Dates let you directly influence their opinion of you, but time you spend dating is time you are not spending raising stats. If a girl is interested in you, they expect attention from you. Fail to give them enough attention, and they'll spread rumors about you. These rumors manifest in the form of "bombs." If a bomb is left unattended for too long, it will go off. A bomb going off makes everyone hate you and is essentially game over for a playthrough. The core of the game is trying to manage your time across raising your stats, actively pursing the girl you are targeting, and keeping everyone else happy so they don't bomb you. It's an extremely compelling loop that despite its simplicity has a surprising amount of emergent complexity.The game has an enormous amount of content. You could do ten full playthroughs and still see only a fraction of what the game has to offer. There's hundreds of scenes across 13 dateable girls. The game is filled with secrets, ranging from incredibly minor details to large, mind bogglingly high effort pieces of content.
