going back from 2.5d to sprite based games is kinda weird, moves don't feel as impactful in a sprite based game for whatever reason. when you hit sagats HK in SF6 it feels like you're beating your opponent to death with a tree trunk, but in 2d games it has the same impact as most other moves. don't get me wrong i love sprite based games a lot, and generally think they look way better than 2.5d but there is a level violence you can't really capture in a 2d sprite based game in these modern fighters. i think the closest is kofXIII at capturing that really visceral feeling of hitting someone with a move as a 2d game
