If you don't think SNES the best console of all time, then you're just wrong. No two ways about it.
>>
>>743408890
SNES/PSX/PS2 are the fully equal holy trinity of videogame consoles. It's never been as good since and never will be again.
>>

I dunno guys, I spent more time playing on my Xbox 360 than any of these consoles and I'm 50 years old.
If we're just going to rate best cartridge console and best CD console then I have to say that SNES and PS1 were the best in their media.
>>
>generic pixelshit 2D platformers and mind-numbingly tedious JRPGs: the console
I aren't think that.
>>
>>743408937
SNES and PS2 definitely were the best two generations of 2d and 3d respectively
PSX not so much, it had a a lot of growing pains considering the transition to 3d at the time and as a whole the NES was a better console generation all things considered

You should play more games.

>I'm 50 years old.
Sure you are
>>

SNES has plenty of different styled games. way to fall for popularity biase you hate.
>>
I started playing games with pure text like zork, so even basic dungeon crawlers or ultima felt like a miracle
these days, super mario world just looks like an old mario game, but at the time, it was a seemingly miraculous increase in color, creativity, level design, gameplay options, and every big super famicon game felt like a major change to the industry
unfortunately thousands of clearly inferior versions of every 16 bit game have been made, and without that context of playing the original, the pixel slop really is pixel slop, its a copy of something that hasn't been fresh in decades

Warning: soul overload.
>>
>>743408890
snesfags are extremely insecure but it's not even the best 16-bit console let alone of all time. Way too few genres and too many stinkers in some classic genres. Performance really was held back in a lot of titles resulting in way worse versions of games.
>>
I have a super famicom because it was cheaper but I don't know nihongo :(
>>
>>743411120
Idk man get an SD2SNES from Aliexpress for like $90 or any decent computer made in the last decade
>>
>>743410729
>Way too few genres and too many stinkers in some classic genres.
You know nothing about video games if you genuinely believe this.
>>
>>743411742
I know significantly more than you do.

Not when you make such ignorant and vague statements. Your description of lacking genre variety far better fits the Neo Geo.
>>
>>743408890
PS1 was the peak many different genres of games
>>
>>743412025
I can't think of one where that's true.
>>
>>743408890
What gets me with the SNES really is the difficulty and jank. On the PS2 it's charming, on the PS1 it's tolerable but on the SNES it's rough, really. I'm not a kid in the 90's with infinite time to spare and no internet.

I'm my Playing Games Room, I have a SNES and PS2.
>>
>>743412058
Half the games are arcade ports with performance/graphical compromises or scaled down for the hardware.
>>
>>743408890
It's great, but PS2 was better.
>>
>>743412247
You're thinking of the Genesis.
>>
>all these lil zoomies saying the Slopstation 2, the console with more shovelware than any other, is better than the SNES
KWAB, The PS2 had under 10 noteworthy games and THOUSANDS of licensed shovelware.
>>
>be me
>have an older SNES before the 1CHIP revision
>buy the FK PAK PRO to play games
>realize due to poor clock signals in the early SNES aka the majority of the systems made and sold, it has a terrible screen glitch and scrambling issue
>have to open the console and remove 2 capacitors and bridge a one, because of Nintendo's retarded engineering, or buy a new up to date FK PAK PRO for another 300
>boot up Genesis with flashcart
>it just works
Yeah, *great* system, fags.

>>
>>743412876
>or buy a new up to date FK PAK PRO for another 300
You should just get a MiSTer instead. Real hardware for 16-bit consoles in 2026 is genuinely obsolete.
>>
>>743412320
Hmm let's see the best SNES games then
>Bing Bing Wahoo
>Bing Bing Wahoo Kart
>Bing Bing Wahoo RPG
>Bing Bing Wahoo Paint
>Dr. Bing Bing Wahoo

This looks vaguely interesting. Tell me a bit about it?

It's like a Mega Man game, but you do shoryukens and hadokens... wait a minute. Also it's two player simultaneous co op, very rare for a game like this. It also runs really well and is just a fun little game with an English patch.
>>
>>743408890
I enjoy all consoles that I can pirate OP.... but yeah the library is pretty damn quality.
>>
>>743414047
I have a crt with old consoles, I'd rather play on that. Sadly, the SNES issue will have to be regulated to emulation at this point.
>>
>>743412320
>the console with more shovelware than any other
Anon, that's the Wii.
>bu bu bu
That's the Wii, saddly.
>>
>>743414070
Oh was this something that didn't see a western release? No wonder I hadn't heard its name before.
>>
>>743414272
>Oh was this something that didn't see a western release?
Yep, it barely saw a release at all. Being distributed on the Satellaview in 1997. In 2017 it got an officially licensed cartridge release.
>>
>>743414201
The Wii only had 1600 games released. Even if you (correctly) argue that 1599 of them are shovelware, the number is still far less than the ~4200 sloppa on the PS2.

>>743413797
>no argument
I accept your concession, little one.
>>
>>743416087
The amount of shovelware doesn't make a console worse, you can just ignore them.
It has a huge amount of good games.
You can keep being a contrarian little bitch, but PS2 is widely accepted as god tier.
>>
>>743416441
>but PS2 is widely accepted as god tier.
PS2's library is so underwhelming that people use them to play SNES games.

you ever notice how people who praise old things these days don't actually like games and just like an aesthetic
>>

You ever notice that you never have anything even remotely insightful to say?

how is melfand a good game lol. your hobby is sifting through garbage to make clickbait screenshots and webms, not playing games
