Nintendo is extremely cash rich, even has a lot more cash than Sony does, so they can absorb several wii u events before they're in genuine threat of closing though they rather not go through any obviously. Sony is a conglomerate with videogames just being a small part of their overall business. If not AI then any latest tech fad will have Sony pivot significant resources to pursue it. Discs are dying anyways.

Nintendo prides itself on having enough savings to weather any financial storm. It would've taken a few WiiUs back to back to get them to leave the hardware space and pull a Sega. On the other hand, Sony's margins for Playstation have fallen off a cliff this generation. They have been spending way too much and releasing and selling far too little in terms of first party. Combine that with the PS5 likely always being sold at a loss, and especially setting at over $4 billion, or 16 times the loss Nintendo took in 2013, on buying Bungie and paying for them to lose more money. Sony is in dire need of copying Nintendo when it comes to financial stability and profit margins for Playstation, because if you look at their financials, they're not doing much better than Xbox.
