Do you still play competitively? Why fight against others, only to gain nothing but more suffering?
You find multiplayer games suffering?
>>743422297The Last Samurai was pretty good. Are there any gaijin samurai games other than Nioh? No, I'm not count AssCreed Shadows.
35 and still love it. Being better than others and make them feel miserable is my raison d'etre in this life. I live for feeding my ego, unironically. I play fighting games cause i hate sharing my victories with others. Doesn't feel real if i get helped. I also like losing alone cause there is no blame shifting and it's easier to only work on myself
>>743422397Revengeance
i play ranked, but it's rarely competitive because the game itself is a dumpster fire. But executing mechanical skill and outplaying people is satisfying.
>>743422352Not OP but so many multiplayer games are just mindless slop. They're not fun, they're just addictive enough to keep you playing each day
>>743422297>Do you still play competitively?I do play competitive games, but I don't do rank grinds anymore because they are literally just a waste of time and make you angry.
>>743422297I like punch and gun gamesI like punch games like Street Fighter 6 since it's funny to counter drive impact with gladius when playing Marisa. Is it optimal? no. Is it even a good choice? no. Does the other person know I purposely chose to do a sub-optimal move just to piss them off? Yes.I like gun games like call of duty for hunting down any opposition players using skins I dislike so they know I've targeted them for a reason
>>743422472believable until the last sentence
>>743422472>Being better than others and make them feel miserable is my raison d'etre in this life.>is only better in video gamesYou have some serious childhood trauma.
>>743422571Same applies to "so many" singleplayer games. A bit of a non-argument desu, especially with how many MP games have zero engagement mechanics (such as things to grind for or cosmetics to unlock)
I used to be cracked at mw2 (15:1 kd) when I was without a job after HS. Did nothing but play all day every day running around with my akimbo shotties and dabbing on camper faggots. Nowadays my reaction time is too slow and the magic is gone, so I've turned to more thematic and story driven games instead. It's a peaceful life.
>>743422297Only fighting games now. 5 minute matches and no teammates to throw games
>>743422760Holy based. But I don't want to learn "frames" in Tekken and practice in lab, it's so gay. So I'll keep having fun and loosing in Herald in Dota
>>743422297Nope. Mostly played them because friends played them. Once I got older and my friend group got smaller/existing friends focused more on actual life events, I didn't feel the same drive. There's nothing wrong with competitive games, but playing them by myself just multiplies the frustration that comes from losing or dealing with toxic shit.Besides, so many fall into genres that I really don't care for. I enjoyed your stereotypical Halo 2 match with friends or being a camping asshole as an engineer in TF2. Now most of the more popular competitive games are massive in scope (see Fortnite with giant worlds and dozens of players all fighting) or feel less goofy I guess? It's hard to explain, but when I played TF2, I'd find myself and others getting into the dumbest shit. People seeing how long they could be a spy without even killing anyone, just seeing how far they can take it. Almost everyone going medic with maybe one or two medics which always ended miserably. Compare that to when I played Marvel Rivals a year ago where it felt way more focused and important to keep to the goal. If you fucked around, you'd often get people commenting on it. Which I get, like, do the objective. But it feels less carefree.I'm old now. I get more frustrated by things since I have less time to dedicate to them. So spending that annoyed, without the group of friends I once had, and playing games that aren't even really my cup of tea? It's just not my genre these days.
>>743422297>>743422297I used to back when I was a shitty little teen, but I had a lot of problems with controlling my emotions and it lead me to throwing controllers, screaming expletives, calling people slurs etc. After a while I just stop playing them because I genuinely did not like who I was when I played competitive games, that and they were just not fun to play in general.31 now and I'm perfectly happy playing single player games and co-op shooters. Its a good life
>>743422297I try to but then I remember the gargantuan amounts of cheaters in shooters today and I stop bothering. Then there's all the gullible retards who think I'm exaggerating because they played their babby's first FPS 3 years ago on console and haven't seen the bullshit and steady decline I've seen over the ~30 years I've been playing.
>>743422664no it's true. I used to play competitive fps and it was a nightmare every time we lost, nobody ever said "sorry guys i fucked up", always deflecting, always defensive, always afraid of hurting others instead of doing useful criticism and i was disliked cause i was the most blunt. Fighting games are heaven, if i lose i know why and what to fix>>743422669can't deny that
>>743422483sorry, no African samurai allowed
videogame skills are worthless. i wish i spent more time practicing real life skills. anyone, who is proud of being good at videogames, is fucking retarded
>>743423307it's subjective. For me learning an instrument is worthless cause i don't give a fuck about music, nor being an accomplished car racer or mountain climber. All useless crap to me
>>743423307>i wish i spent more time practicing real life skills. anyone, who is proud of being good at videogames, is fucking retardedPretty much on top of that, the only reason to play video games past +30 is if you have autism, are disabled or something else is wrong in your head.>videogame skills are worthless.not all mmo can teach you some good social skills but besides that yea they are absolute worthless.
>>743423307Everything is useless in the end
>>743422297no, cheating has ruined it. You can tell shame is gone in the younger hyper feminized bitch culture. Digital ID required for multiplayer games will bring back accountability and the ability to perma ban cheaters. That's the only solution that will ever exist. Cope shameless cheating faggots and discord/reddit grooming troons
>>743422669nah he's just not a bitch like you and so many others - go take your pills and talk to your therapist about it some more
>>743423307I am accomplished in many real life skills - ex-military, mountaineer, hunting and fishing - healthy career in network security. People like you are bitches - thinking time spent meandering on /v/ is somehow more useful than playing a game - keep your self loathing to yourself
I used to play fighting games but all the new ones are kind of boring except UNIST 2 and that game is so full of commands that I can't play it for long. Haven't tried Tekken 8 but strive and sf6 are not very fun. Garou was okay- but not very exciting to play. I prefer the old melty over the new one as well. If blazblue makes a comeback I might pick it up for a little bit. I kind of have to stick to street fighter tier games cause anything more complicated than skullgirls will hurt my hands.
>>743425405How do you tell if someone has been in the military? Easy, just start talking to them for 15 seconds and they'll tell you. Semper fi brother
>>743425669civilians are faggots and we live in peak faggot times and they deserve to know it - i will never give a shit about your "everyone's the same" pussy culture
>>743423307I agree with this. Not sure why the military guy got so upset. If you had a co-worker and found out they were really into gears you'd file it away as a hobby of theirs. Whether they're good or bad at it doesn't really matter to you personally. Now it would obviously be a different matter entirely if someone was able to make competitive gaming their career, but it's like hearing someone participates in marathon running or has a garden they tend to. It's kinda gay to say you wished you developed "real skills" instead or something. The economy in the most powerful country in the world is run by cannibal pedophiles and AI can code better than you, a complete newbie could ever hope to. If you know English you can go anywhere. Useful skills? Learn to make pizzas at home for a fraction of the cost. Now that's something to brag about.
>>743422297I would if i still had the time. They were a complete waste but i miss those 14 hour league of legends sessions
>>743426221>civilians are faggots>t. homoerotic mall ninja
>>743426367or just have a more balanced life and stop spreading your self dread across the internet like a forum is your therapy session
>>743426512you misspelled "hates gay people"
>>743423267He is a Liberian Ninja, you fascist.
>>743422297>Do you still play competitively?Very rarely, competitive games have been utterly and completely infested with the worst kind of people gaming has to offer. Namely cheaters, sweaty teenagers looking for a clip to post on their 10 sub youtube channel, foids looking for simps and trannies who are mostly there seeking ways to report "the chuds" when they step out of line aka swear.Cheating is by far the biggest problem competitive games has though. Every lobby has at least one.
>>743422297Giving up PvP is accepting that you are old and that it's over for you. You have to hold onto the fire, or the decline starts. You've seen that fire go out in every person before you and what it does. It's also a sign of becoming a pathetic normie. Soon you'll be talking about games like a boomer, complaining about "no life kids online all day" while you have a "family", as if that justifies your 0:20 KD ratio.
>>743426738i think the prevalence of cheating relates heavily to everyone being nihilists - digital iD is the onyl way to fix it
>>743427251this guy gets it. Also losers always try to impose the "you can only have cake or pie, not both" mentality
>>743426738yeah man. even non-comp casual games, say private servers or whatever have hackers. their fun is just fucking over other people’s fun blatantly or using it discreetly to gain some kind of perceived status in a community (i’m thinking of like roleplay servers)
>>743422297This must be zoomer thing because i've never seen that division in videogame tastes before. You play videogames and thats it. Sometimes multiplayer, sometime it's a puzzle game, sometimes there's more storytelling, sometimes its a party game, etc. This whole "switching to story games" seems insane to me. I mean why do you have to dedicate your whole attention to a narrow frame of the whole videogame spectrum? I mean the division itself is quite retarded. I wouldnt call Mario 64 a ""story"" game but it definitely isnt competitive besides speedrunning autismo.
I play NHL HUT. I love hockey and it's the only hockey game out there sadly. Nothing, and I do mean absolutely nothing can get me as angry as that horseshit. But my monkeybrain is just too addicted to stop. I wish I could. I love the sport and the game can be fun sometimes, if EA decides it's your turn to win. It has all the EA sports game bullshit you could possible expect. I would play offline but that's too easy and boring.
>>743422297I only play casual competitive
>>743427583There are a shocking number of people who only play either one genre or one specific video game and literally nothing else
>>743422297>32>still playing competitive games>still play shooters>still playing (a) tcg in person>still play mobas>still play fighting games (and go to locals)yeah, I like competitive games, I am a competitive person.isn't like you can't (i do at least) still play single player games as well? it isn't one or the other
>>743423307name 5 "real life skills" that are not worthless.
>>743427583i kinda get it and i get what you’re saying too. i’ve been on both ends, for example when i was a teen CSGO had just come out and obviously it was here to stay, so i spent LOADS of time on just counter strike comp gitting gud and not really any other games. i can imagine someone taking the dedication even further, like many pros obviously do, to get even better and then compete for money or whatever. aside from counter strike, i also spent MANY hours on just one gmod RP server because i met friends there, and really got into this little community, and i also kinda sorta nolifed the gamemode, but anyway… i also realise it can feel like a fucking job at that point, or a skill like fitness if you’re an athlete or a carpenter or whatever that needs to do it even when its not fun because otherwise you can’t compete, or in the case of a server’s community/friendgroup you could end up isolated or even kinda forgotten (dropped out of clans/guilds) because you didnt log in for a few months for whatever reason.but i do loves me some linear or even open world purely singleplayer games where it’s just the games world and the game mechanics, not scoring some rank just to achieve the rank in PvP. nothing like it.
>>743426221>being proud of being in the government funded nigger welfare program How many of my tax dollars did you waste doing pride marchesDon't forget, my money paid your $4/hr. You're my employee, lower your voice when you speak to me.
>>743422297No. I made the switch to real life martial arts and just don't have the time for fightan any more. Fightan games were fun though, don't regret it.
>>743429512You do have the time you just choose to spend it elsewhere
>>743429727I dont have enough wasteable time I'd be willing to spend, yea.
>>743430000Cool just don't lie and say you don't have time
>>743422297Occasionally, I still boot up CS every now and then to see if my reflexes and aim are still on point.
>>743422297No. Competitive games are a cheap substitute (and illusion) for the actual competition men crave irl. Men find competition fun and we are driven to search for it everywhere. Games are just toys. Despite this, men wanted to see who could play with them "the best". Game companies then saw all the money in making toys that delude men they're "competing" and the rest was history. Competitive games have a lot of elements out of your control like your teammates and RNG, they are riddled with smurfs and cheaters, and they often have no structure for "being the best" with no meaningful reward except, of course, your time and money spent. This is because they are just toys (products) and have no capability to be truly competitive.>but they're funThe "fun" is winning and being better than other players. Nobody has fun going 0 and 15. That's why people got addicted to league. They get kills, rank, they get ego, they get to be the winner for a bit. Problem is, when you lose or leave the game, that's all gone. You're more of a loser than before because you wasted more time on a toy gratifying your ego for a bit. But that digs the hole deeper, and you come back needing more strokes to your ego. Devs know this and keep you on that hamster wheel. Frustration and anger ensues as you struggle to run on a rigged wheel, thinking you'll eventually get somewhere. you just need to run harder and more, then you'll surely be the best hamster. You are not having fun, you're chasing a temporary and fake ego high. Competitive games are shit that try to hook you on a dangerous hamster wheel pipeline. There are much healthier games out there that give you simple fun that don't try to hijack your most important desires as a man.
>>743422352multiplayer games are sufferingbecause it's 99% people so shit you wonder how they managed to even get into the game at all.then the 1% you enter the dick jousting zone
>>743422297No, not really. Last game I played competitively was AoE4, 1-2 years ago or something like that. I played some BF6 but I don't consider that competitive. I don't play competitively anymore because I only really play MP with friends nowadays and none of my friends play anything competitive, at least not anything that I like. Nowadays my MP gaming is mostly co-op games on the higher or highest difficulty settings, like Space Marine 2 or Darktide.
>>743422297Not anymore, as I got older I've had to dedicate more time to normie things and have lost the autism to keep up. So lack of time, lack of autism to keep up with the meta.
>>743426738>Cheating is by far the biggest problem competitive games has though. Every lobby has at least one.blows my mind that people can't accept that
>>743427251Grinding PvP shit is just such a huge opportunity cost that it isn't in any way worth it to me, not unless it's combined with playing with friends, because playing with friends is fun in and of itself.I'm not going to solo grind some ladder in 1 game when I could be spending all those hundreds of hours playing all kinds of different games instead, games that are all new to me and I've never experienced before. I used to play a lot of MP shit until I realized I was missing out on so much by ignoring the huge wealth of games available and only repeatedly playing whatever MP game I had picked at the time.
>>743427385>digital iD is the onyl way to fix itNOOOOOOOO BUT MY PRIVACY The EU can literally look at every post you made now. I wish this shit tier hobby wasn't infested by the worst subhuman trannies possible that would have been all sent to camps if the Nazis won.
>>743423307>Cracked at office fps deathmatch >I'm actually too good where I need to heavily nerf myself or make people rage quit>I have this while they have families and better careersLiterally negative value skill
>>743425405well look at that, a proud military robot. How pitiful
>>743422472Kek. I'm convinced people like this must have gotten blown the fuck out playing a game one time as a kid and that moment lives on forever in their head. Like he fantasies ever victory is over that one dude who destroyed him when he was 8.
They were only fun when friends were playing with you.The only enjoyable solo competetive games I've played are chess, poker and starcraft.Of those I only still play poker casually once or twice a month.
>>743430238I'll do whatever i want, faggot.
>>743422297I enjoy shooting planes out of the sky, only Warthunder provides that.
>>743422297I stopped 10-11 years ago. It was fun when I was young. Now I just wanna chill. Even Souls games that are supposedly hard are more calming and enjoyable than pvp shit.
>>743433720Doubt itYou don't have the time
I quit competitive games multiple times. Deadlock seems great, but it's just too much to learn. Also played CS2 but it just stopped making sense. I have a giant log of great single player games to try, so I think I'm off of competitive for good.
>>743425405Look at this dood, probably a subsistence clerk earning 8k a month disability because he got PTSD from being yelled at once for stealing food.
>>743422297I crave the violence that open world PK and griefing that only old school MMOs can provide.
>>743422297I play competitively against myself, the only respectable opponent I can find.
>>743422297>Do you still play competitively? No. Even though i am playing Marathon as my only multiplayer game, i play it in such a way that i minimise PvP and just enjoy everything else game has to offer (not much, but it works for me).
>>743433870This guy at work said he plays marvel rivals but wasn't having any fun and can't get past silver and I said I stopped playing competitive games a few years agoHe said ah man I don't wanna get old yet though I thought I still had a few years in me So apparently that's the philosophy behind being mazed with competitive games is it's a sign of getting old when you switch to /comfy/ games
>>743422352Yes. Their intentionally designed to keep you addicted. You'll feel bad if you win or lose. The point is to keep you clicking "find match".
>>743437057Based
>>743422732>I used to be cracked at mw2that has a different meaning these days, anon.
>>743422297>Do you still play competitively? No. Use to win money in MLG, I was one of the top ten in the world in a certain game around 2010. I lost interest for a couple reasons.>MLG started moving online despite netcode getting progressively worse with more exploits every new generation of games>Instead of making it more efficient for lower latency, they hide the lag by making the game literally lie to you visually, making it impossible to compensate for, giving an even more extreme advantage to hosts and low ping havers>Proximity voice phased out, no more LARPing as silly characters to fuck with the other guys>Algorithmic matchmaking denies you access to the best players; You will never, ever master a game's basic skills playing against losers just slighter better or worse at it than you are, let alone get to the same level as the top 1% in any reasonable amount of time>Game communities degraded, becoming less autocratic and more corporate as 'brand ambassadors' and community managers came in like the vidya gayme gestapo>Forced preddit metas based on statistics without taking per capita into consideration, because if you believe in correct math you're a racist bigot so even if your build is demonstrably superior to the current meta it will get you snubbed no matter how good your stats are>Influencers and streamers create an entire sub economy of subscription based near undetectable cheats worth millions of dollars, its now all pervasive at high levels of play>Battle royales are just kinda Day Z but for normies, no thanks>Everyone online is a sperg that doesn't understand the difference between opinions, facts and objective reality, MK Ultra'd to go berserk if you say their trigger wordsI could probably go on but I have things to do besides screech autistically today.
WHAT IS THE HIGHEST RANK YOU'VE ACHIEVED IN YOUR COMPETITIVE SLOP GAME ANONS?for it was r1 in arenas in WoW Cata and r14 autism in 2019 WoW Classic
>>743429461BODIED THAT FREAK
>>743422472Same. Actually, people who know of me in the games I play refer to me as "The Wolf" because I'm both solitary and dangerous.
>>743422297I stopped playing competitive games. But I didn't turn to story games, and instead pivoted to autistic singleplayer autist games. And it's been very satisfying.
