The people who collect physical games never actually play anything, they're just posers who like the "I'm an epic gamer!" aesthetic. Good riddance, hope normies invade some other hobby now.
>>
>give my physical connection to my kids
>they sell it at best or throw it to the trash at worse

>>
>>743423347
My SNES is missing the gasket in the back where the AC adapter plugs in and doesn't work anymore. None of my TVs can take the video input from the N64. My GameCube is missing the power adapter entirely. The DS left bumper and touch screen don't work consistently. The Xbox is red-ringing. The PlayStation 1 and 2 laser can't read discs anymore. The PlayStation 4 controllers all drift or have phantom inputs. I have a large physical game collection (and children) but the ability to play any of them is already gated by time and money to fix or replace the hardware, which will only become more impossible in the future. I was never happier than when consoles stopped being a thing in my life and everything existed at my fingertips on PC - and if it breaks it'll all be waiting on the next one.
>>
>>743424898
That's the sad reality with everything when it comes to inheritance
>here is this gold necklace your mother owned - it was very important to her cause it was the first thing your dad gave her
"Cool - gonna pawn that shit and buy myself a PS6"
Some things like houses hold some more value and people generally don't just throw them away - but even there you have cases where kids just sell the family riches in order to party and booze for some time.
Some will say this is just bad parenting and that the parents who see their stuff get thrown away deserve it. But the reality is that this even happens with seemingly normal families. Cause your kids have no attachment to those old consoles. They have their own things they are nostalgic about. Unless you raised your son to be a mega retro lover he won't give a shit.
>>
Your kids are gonna sell that shit for a smartphone.
The only toy that you pass on to the next generation of young children is lego.

I could have kids at minimum wage or even without moving out. I know people who do. But I’m not making the sacrifices. I’m too selfish to want them. all money will be for my video games not their video games
>>
>>743423347
I never played any of my grandparents favorite games on their original hardware. I just googled "NES games free" and played them in the browser. Nowadays these sites have advanced so much you can even play PS1 games. By the time my grandkids come out there will probably be a site that runs Elden Ring.

They actually lose a ton of money on the Funkos. Most sit there and quite literally rot on the shelves because no one's interested in the basic ones. What most collectors are looking for at this stage are the exclusives which stores only get if they order ridiculous quantities. It's basically the IRL version of gacha games. They have to take 10,000 pieces of garbage to get one exclusive deal.

The standard ones are perpetually 'on sale' and BOGO but only if you have a Pro membership which actually used to be a decentish deal until a few years ago. That's when they nerfed the points and coupons and introduced their store credit card which the cashiers are trained to sign you up for without asking. All of the fake debt they illegally rack up in people's names is the true source of Gamestop's value as a company these days.

Plenty of my consoles have already died. I've even had three gamecubes and not only have they all been fucked, but even their memory cards got fucked before they did. People have dead consoles and games sitting on their shelves and they don't even realize it because they don't ever actually bother booting them up again since they've been left behind to die, they just like to look at them and think shit still works.

>>
>>743425273
Entirely depends on the hardware.
There is no reason why your SEGA Genesis should not work 100 years later. There aren't really any obvious big failure points.
Meanwhile a NES hardly ever lasted 15 years without the need for repair. Mostly because of cheaper compenents - especially the cartridge reader is dogshit.
Same with early CD-based systems like the SEGA MegaCD or PS1 - if you find one used these days they probably got their laser replaced atleast twice.

>my library is large enough to give you about 36 years of playtime
>library will still get a bit larger
>30 to 40 years later I will die
>my oldest would be pushing 45
>if he has kids, they're pushing 10 to 15
>"Hey kid, heres 289 original xbox games and a console grandpa left, they are 70 years old"
>Oh boy! Thanks dad! Cant wait to throw that into the trash.

Our kids are not us, no matter how much we want them too. My grandpa left a 1k+ vhs collection of shit he recorded.
Do you think anybody watched that shit or go through the hastle of finding out that 1 in 1000 vhs tape that "worth" something? In the best case 80 bucks? Nah man, into the trash

>>743424151

Nothing lasts forever. But many things can outlive you and your kids easily.
Like most discs for example. Blurays and modenr DVDs easily last over 100 years as long as you don't live in a swamp or expose them directly to potential hazards.
This goes for consoles as well. Even oldass shitty Atari silicon from 1980 generally doesn't cause any problems. If consoles fail its usually the disc readers , cartridge readers or capacitors.

Good thing modern hardware also doesn't have any sort of actual value behind it
Your PS5 broke? Who cares - it doesn't have any games anyway - just grab a budget PC if you wanna play your games. And there are a dozen different bluray players out there for you to choose from for your movies.

Valve will check after reasonably you are dead, the moment your son can't give them valid documents they will purge the account. They already stated that. You cannot pass your steam library to other people after you die.
>>
>>743429764
Men still want kids. Because men are genetically programmed to do that.
Women meanwhile are programmed to not breed until they have the best suited male in the bag. Which never happens in our modern society because our society is trying its best to get them away from kids.
>you need to focus on your career

>How's your Steam collection coming along?

Let me explain again why you can buy digital games on a PC but not on consoles, using an analogy with books.

>buy an ebook on a PC
>open it in your favorite software
>bind the pages around a hardcover
>you have a "real" book in your hands!

>Buy an ebook on a console
(you can only get as far as the step above)

The problem is that retards (browns) will have children without thinking about their future. But midwits (most whites) can be psyoped into thinking about the children's future too much. Thinking that your child needs swanky gadgets and a 50000000000k college degree and 200 dollers a bottle babygoy feed and to pay for the circumcision if you have a son, etc.
Personally for me, I won't have kids because I can't find a woman I don't want to strangle to death. I'd love to have a child to impart wisdom upon and care for the wellbeing of, but unless I can afford to kidnap a broad, chain her in my basement, and keep her there until she births my baby boy/girl, I don't see it happening.
