Like if you work at a fast food place you have to man the counter or the fryer and mop the floors and tables, but shit like lawyers and professors are just rabbitholes like the sims where you hop in a cab and dissappear for half the day. They just recently added school tasks instead of it being a time skip. I feel like they're making progress but they still have a long way to go.
