Is there any game that has ever done a time loop mechanic in a way that's actually fun to play?

I recently played In Stars and Time, which I hated for multiple reasons, but primarily because of its incredibly shitty time loop gimmick where you do the same dumbed-down JPRG shit over and over just to make some melodramatic point. This reminded me of other time loop games, like Rue Valley (dogshit), Deathloop (bland as fuck), Returnal (interesting but tedious), Bravely Default (not as bad, but the time loop part is easily the worst part), etc.

It seems like a time loop would be something interesting to explore, but devs either lack the imagination or the resources to do anything clever with it. It always just boils down to "do the same shit over and over with minor differences until you reach the predetermined narrative endpoint" and feels like little more than an excuse to spread 2 hours of content over 30 hours of gameplay.
