>>743428258i only played part way through office complex, but it does do a really good job of making black mesa feel less gamey, and more like an actual place that you could really believe would exist. every area is gigantic, with tons of great detail. areas are still recognizable (with the obvious expection of the brand new areas) but reimagined as if they were real rooms in an actual science facility that served a purpose. it really is well done.this all sounds well and good, but turns out, when you make a game's setting less gamey, the gameplay suffers for it. navigation is a lot less fun evn though the environments look great. all the rooms are huge, and full of excellent detail, but before long, you'll be wishing they weren't. it's kind of hard to describe why, but navigating such complex and detailed areas in a video game just really isn't as much fun as you'd think. it's clear that there was a ton of effort put in, and i would say that the creators succeeded at making a black mesa that feels like it could exist in real life.i just don't want to play it.
