Was the 2008 financial crisis really like this?
>"NOO YOU DON'T GET IT I NEED DA MONEYZ">robs a bank and gets infinite money>does nothing with it
*Destroys western Civilization*
It's not as if Rockstar popped out a game to coincide exactly with the crash. The game was in development long before the Big Burger Cheese Meltdown.
>>743432294maybe it's the other way around, and people going back to live with their parents in 2008 made the crisis happen.ever think it that way bozo?

>>743432595Fucking Obama, man. So glad Trump came in and drained that swamped.
>>743432294what the fuck kind of Y axis goes from 27 to 33 percent. that just makes this look way worse than it actually is
>>743432092Considering it was in development before the financial crisis, no.
>>743432298Yes but the expansions were made during/directly after the crash so it's a strange running commentary on it from a past "present" and post perspective on it through the TV, internet and radio (on top of the various stories)IV wasn't predicting the crash, it was capturing the exact cultural atmosphere that produced it. The dying American Dream, GWOT paranoia, financial scams, collapsing industries, fake luxury, desperate people chasing a better life and still believing in the American dream pretending everything is fine while the machine itself is dyingTLAD fits into this as it was the "middle" child of the GTA IV "trilogy" produced/released DURING the crash it's about the lowest levels of criminal society clinging to the last scraps of a fantasy born from the ashes of WW2, peak boomer era beliefs about freedom and brotherhood while the world moves on without them. A bunch of dudes running an outdated belief system trying to pretend shits like how it "used to be" eventually breaking into a civil war with each other.TBOGT feels like a snapshot of that era because it's literally about the last gasp of the 2000s excess culture, (nightclubs, celebrity worship, money laundering, finance bros, etc.) right as the party ended. It's similar to how Vice City captured the 80s (but more kino) even though Rockstar didn't make it in the 80s, they made it looking back with the benefit of hindsight, turning a 80's culture into a time capsule. IV is accidentally doing the same thing except instead of neon Miami coke fantasy it's the dying embers of the GWOT/Wall Street America, The Twilight of Western Civilization.A game set in "modern day" somehow became a historical document of a very specific 2007-2010 moment that basically doesn't exist anymore. That's what makes it so Kino it's a snapshot of the exact moment the old world.Fuck anyone that says IV is shit because "the radio is bad" (it isn't) or "the driving is bad"YOU GOT FILTERED
