Damn this game is kino and free.
if a game is free, (You) are the product
is the next one about to come out or something?this is one of the few games i've pirated then went and bought after i finished it
>>743667039it's coming out today
>>743667039Its coming out in like a few hours.
>>743666880I really dig the worldbuilding and characters. Long live the Emperor and may the nobility die. Bureaucratic Illustrated Despotism or death
>>743667049>>743667190oh shit, that's awesome. didn't actually expect that.
I wondered why I saw a thread about this yesterday. Guess I'll play it.
>>743666880A VN?
>>743667610More like the text adventure. There's not super many cgs.I fucking loved this song and the moment it was used in the first timehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg40YVZyXLo
>>743667562The devs made the first game free-to-keep for a few days to celebrate the sequel releasing today. Its why the player count is so high rn
>>743667716My favorite track is the one which plays when you're in a noble party/ball.
Noblechads, were you able to slay the vile bluenigger?
>>743669576Yes. One of the best moments in the game to finally kick that fucker's jaw.
too many words
>>743669859This isn’t a lol thread.
>>743669576I think you can fight him and win as a child on the normie route.Tho maybe that was some other dude...
>>743670104that's your friend not the arknian
>>743670182No no, I mean when you're a child and he is an adult. When you help Sophia to break free you can kinda overpower him for a moment and then flee.
Any other good text based games like this one?
>>743670562Disco Elysium?
>>743670562gameplay is way different, but i really liked roadwarden
>>743670562Suzerain is very good.
>>743666880>>743670695>You are deeply fascinated by the history of the world and the events of the game,>Filler family route begins
>>743670864>>Filler family route beginsIt's not filler.
>>743670864>french revolution with a bit of unnecessary ooga booga animismfascinating
>>743666880The prose itself is solid, but the mechanical part is absolutely dogshit. Exemplified by how >>743669576 is constrained to a very specific path, and the fact that the default setting is SHOW ME THE STAT BREAKPOINTS FOR THE EVENTS IN THE FOLLOWING CHAPTER BECAUSE THE SYSTEM DOESN'T FUCKING WORK IF YOU ARE NOT PLAYING BY ITS RULES.The peasant route had a nice twist, and there are a bunch of crazy girls if you're into that, but if you can tolerate awful mechanics then Alexis Kennedy's games are more engaging. Also any text game that can't implement builtin Ren'Py options warrants a beating of the developers, replays are a fucking slog.
>>743670873>don't pay attention to your family and don't do anything for them.>NOOOO WE HATE YOU WE ARE NOT FAMILY ANYMORE>Nothing else changesIt is filler. I'm creating history, why would I care if my older brother I never liked was put in jail?
>>743670695>accept all bribes>own a soccer team>enact no social policy>win a war>cruise into second term beloved by country
>>743670997the stat breakdowns have razor thin margins. i think some sort of meta stat you could cash in for temp boosts or just 1 point of leeway with a lot of choices would have done a better job of allowing players to sway the narrative.
Was anyone able to please both Arkanians and commoners in the demo? I focused on trying to send out the new world expedition but what I think really fucked me was trying to unite the family, only to find out they aren't worth uniting.I am just guessing at this point, but I think the new world expedition is going to give you shit tons of wealth one way or another.Uniting the family will make schemes against you much less likely.Uniting nobility and commoners will make reform much smoother.>>743670864Family in Suzerain is downright terrible. Literally the only ones who aren't bitches or retards are your daughter in Sordland and your mom in Rizia.
>>743671027Same but>accept all bribes>nationalize the entire industry>imprison all political opponents and other undesirables>lose war horribly >die in a gunfight inside your office
>>743671138also>bring the country to economic depression
>>743671138Couldn't be me.
Winning a solo war against Rumburg was very cool.
>>743670864Real
>>743671027taken as a whole, original suzerain tends to be hilarious>currying favors by NOT letting your wife do any speeches>helping your neighbor with the bludish question and then going i dindu nuffin at the bootleg league of nations>"people describe you as a radical centrist">literally promising the moon in the second term epiloguethe biggest problem is very little reactivity across the years, most things just sorta happen by themselves regardless, and you only have the option of how to respond
i think the Family is just there to be a huge fucking impediment and pain in the ass to keep Unity up>I AM LE STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMAN WEARING MEN'S CLOTHES! LISTEN TO MY POETRY>stfu pleb i'm going to marry you off.>AIEEE ENTER IN TO A SECRET PLOT TO KILL STEFAN FOR ME PLZ>little bro: *does a lot of drugs and has degenerate orgies in the background*jesus christ.
>>743671138badass
>>743671415If a character has a family from the start of the game, they are always there to be a burden. It would be a miracle if, after you decided to be loyal to them, they would contribute at least some help at the end of the game, like in the Beholder where you degenerate son actually helps you flee the country if you helped him first.
>>743671415i felt this way about the childhood friend. like bro, how many fucking times do i have to help you? do you ever plan on returning the favor? the ring is a fuckin trap.
>>743666880It's a good way to market their next game, I'll pirate anyway.
>>743671126I tried getting the event where you're liked by everyone + uniting the family but sadly it didn't work. I think you can only get one or the other.
>>743671415Don't you DARE badmouth SAINThan.
>>743671126Your son becomes based if you send him to the army.
>>743671708He dies in a war tho
>>743671670I'm sure you can get both but only if you metagame the fuck out of the game.
>>743671771Sounds like his problem.
>>743671813eh i already redid it many times to get both but it didn't work out. I don't think its possible honestly, since the game says you need to balance your family plus the kingdom
>>743671964also to add, I also tried getting the additional family events for your mom and dad plus the unity thing. Maybe it is possible to get "beloved by all" if I just chose to skip one of those family events.
>>743672185You can do it it's just hard.
I wanted to side with grandpa more and put poorfags in their place. The game practically railroads you into siding with the poorfags.
>>743672351anon, its practically a dystopian setting where giant, blue-skinned humanoids see you as literally beneath them. the fuck did you expect?blood tides and all the other magic rituals originate from arknian culture
>>743672339Eh fuck it, i'll just buy the game and see how far i can get with my build. I intend to play it multiple times like with the Sir brante one anyways,>mfw getting smothered by lucrezia's (canon fiance) huge tits
>>743672351>Born into an oppressed class>Dreams of becoming an oppressor instead of overthrowing them.Brown.
>>743666880The alien subplot was hella retarded. Also both times I played I ended up with the commies for some reason, despite trying to be a loyalist.
>>743672392What does that have to do with keeping women in their place? I was really displeased being made to work with that witch who I let get run over by a chariot. No matter how much I betrayed them they never gave me an option to kill them outright. I even tried ratting her out to some blueskin noble. She just fled.
>>743672497>ended up with the commies for some reason, despite trying to be a loyalist.
>>743672525You can kill her in last 2 acts
Ah, another Russian game I won't play.
>>743671708>becomes basedYou mean becomes a loyal servant of your masters?
>>743672476They deserve to be opressed. There is a path to being a noble through being a contributor to society. They not only spite the will of the gods by rejecting their lot in life they are also refusing to better themselves.
>>743672603Might be worth trying again for that alone.
>>743672628>theyYOU, nigga. You are the oppressed.
>>743672628>spite the will of the gods>get the ability to sentence anyone to True Death if enough people vote toI don't know man..
>>743672685Nah I'm on that grindset. The nobles like me. Can't say the same for the impudent who refuse to conform to society.

>>743672847>He played once as an oligarch's henchmanYou know you don't need to suck their cocks, right? You can steel their shit and jail them all.
>>743672907Neolib in Sordland.Status quo/authoritarian in Rizia.
>>743672923>steelI mean, steal...
>>743672907I thought neolib was easier to get an ending where I didn't either get couped or killed. I never won a second term tho as lib thoubeit.
>>743672907trying to tread a middle path just seems to get you hated by everyone. felt like the game favored the neolib/western aligned approach tho.
Apparently they AI slopped art in the new one? I really liked the first game, but I don't wanna pay for lazy job.
>>743673073>I don't wanna payDon't pay then.
>>743673123Yeah I'll steal the game if it's true.
Is it still a video game if there is no video?
>>743672847>oligarchyWho?

>>743672628>the will of the gods They don't punish anyone with their wrath if they defy their lots. The lotless frequently take up arms and kill nobles throughout the game. I just played through it, it was a fun 5 hours. A bit too easy though, I wasn't expecting to lead the rebellion and win on a single playthrough, my only 2 deaths were because of fucking Tommas but he came back in the epilogue so I'll forgive him.I assume if you don't let Octavia become a La-Tari she becomes miserable and kills herself or something, which is a shame because I enjoyed the blue pussy.
>>743674698you can see comparison to first game later in replies, It has same problems (fingers, duplicatre objects in picture), I think artist simply doesn't give a fuck and makes mistakes without correcting it later
>>743674698Oh wow what the fuck, the dev responded to that ~an hour ago. Snipping the start of it, though there's more you can go read for yourself>Sometimes AI served as a form of communication within the team. We used it when assigning tasks to artists—primarily so that someone who couldn't draw (like me) could more quickly explain to the art department what they wanted to achieve and show reference.>So, we know from experience that humans make mistakes just as often as AI.>I realize this answer is unlikely to convince anyone. Perhaps this is truly part of the modern internet: if there's a suspicion of AI being used, the dispute almost never ends with a respectful handshake.
>>743676384>hired artists>used AI in communication>but there's no way any of those artists might've been lazy and just inpainted with AI slop! It's funny every time.
>>743676384The fact that he didn't say "No AI was used in the creation of our work" is suspicious. Nobody thinks using Google AI to convey something to an artist means you used AI in your work. This smells fishy.
yikes sisters i cant support ai-using burguesia stealing jobs from our hard working comrades

>>743670562Maybe not exactly the same but Veritas Tales is kino
Since this is an artsy ready game thread, I would like to present to the esteemed anonymous public, the most interestingly dogshit piece of "interactive fiction" I've had the displeasure of reading. A simple look or three at the store page will tell you to dismiss the thing, and that instinct is entirely right, provided you have sufficiently high level of racism. But as a man who spent his hard-earned wagiebuxx, I must warn people easily baited by stylistics (like myself) for posterity. If nothing else, I want you all to know the following list of sins (presented in non-decreasing order of severity) committed by Inhuman Resources:>developers are Canadian, and some art grant is credited>the term "capitalism" is used in video-essayist sense>default placeholder name is Finnegan Joyce>there are constant mentions of how (you) feel in any situation>approximately zero wit employed in the prose, despite the titleThe whole ""adventure"" is one big pathetic glimpse into the mentality of some self-loathing member of NA intelligentsia. Which is what makes the denouement, following a shonen-tier twist involving player character's heritage, truly hilarious. What loathsome creatures those creative types are, too weak to fight, too cowardly to run, and yet so conceited as to expect to inherit the machine. Have suspicions that it was a prototype/demo for a text adventure Unity plugin, that's a nice backdrop to the plot. Go play Anthology of the Killer for some real outsider art instead.
>>743677475>that japanese attention to PC customization, that is to say none>all 3 language packs downloaded at once, despite being clearly separated files>no instant text, no decision shortcuts, no quickload>in a game with ye olden choose thine own adventure bad ends everywherewitch PC is cute, but that's not enoughif it's at least "fabled lands" tier of wholesome murderous adventuring, then i'll power through, but my patience sure is fucking tried

>>743683935>any tips for playing? The game is very different. I don't know how many routes there are but you basically need to tardwrangle your family and the relationship with the empire estates. >>743693146???
>>743666880It's not even a real game, it's a literal cyoa book
>>743671415The childhood friend was even worse. He suddenly gives you a marriage proposal, and then does jack shit but ask you for gibbs the entire game.
>>743672351The grandpa sucks ass. I got (wrong) advice in this thread to be friendly to him if you're going noble, which is a trap. All that does is bypass a 10 point skill check. You can be as mean as you want to him and he'll still love you if you become a noble.
>>743693625>You can be as mean as you want to him and he'll still love you if you become a noble.Yeah. That's like, his bigest dream or something.
>>743671027Replace "win a war" with "lose a war", and you got Peronism.
>>743672497All the romances are terrible. First run I tried romancing the blue lady, until she suddenly kills herself and becomes an alien bird that spouts vagueposts. The other two romances are hardcoded to always turn against you because of the revolution. This shit is dumb.
Is Jerian canon to the first game? I remember he briefly shows up in Brante. Are they happening at the same time?
>>743693795He is in the first game but the timeline of events seem to be different. Its probably an alternate reality.
>>743688969The point of these games is to fail miserably and then follow a guide if you want to get anything done.
>>743693793>The other two romances are hardcoded to always turn against you because of the revolutionMakes sense for Sophia since she's ahother rebel leader and they are known for betraying each other. What about the last girl?
>>743693989Jeanne always becomes the leader of the inquisition. If you're a loyalist she injures herself and you can let somebody else take over. If you're a rebel you have to fight her. All the love interests don't value your romance at all.
>>743693989Jeanne doesn't betray you unless you're a New Faith believer but even then you can convince her to surrender and join your side. I don't really get the problem here.
>>743694159You can only convert her after defeating her. She always picks up a sword against the new faith.
>>743671415I think that helps it feel pretty satisfying when I manage to keep their retarded asses unified and even turn some of the lives around in the ending, at least.
>>743672351It's set during revolutionary times. Siding against the coming tide, instead of riding the wave, is naturally going to be much more difficult.
>"sure, he's handsome, strong, a respected noble, has been in love with me for the past 10 years and marrying him would allow me to live out the lifestyle I always dreamed of...">"but he gives me the ick"
>>743695017he doesnt think of her as a person
Sir Brante is a decent visual novel for the first three chapters, and falls apart in the last two purely due to the utterly insane stat requirement. I minmaxed about as well as a blind player could, but it was nowhere close to good enough. Passing stat checks leads to more stat increases that lead to passing more stat checks etc. This creates a feedback loop meaning if your stats ever fall 1 point below the target, you enter a death spiral and can no longer make choices. Utterly insane design decision that the developers should be mocked for.
>>743695095Neither does any other man of a woman.
>>743695204>debugs youre path
>>743695017Suzerain also has this shit. Your wife is a bitch that values feminist activism above your marriage. What a utter wench.
>>743695204you kidding? the fourth chapter is the most fun. So many twists and turns regardless of which path you pick
>>743671415This was extra funny in my route cause there was literally a civil fucking war brewing outside, terrorists bombing buildings and statues, people afraid to even sleep at night, and I gotta deal with my fucking sister wanting to wear men's clothes and read poetry and my stupid brother wanting to marry her off, can't you fucks put this on hold until later?! I need my willpower for more important shit.>>743695204Yeah I find it kinda dumb that "passing a stat check is the only way to increase that stat". I ended up on Path of the Lotless with only 10 Scheming and it was already game over for me from the start of chapter 4 despite having 20 manipulation and 20 diplomacy, since some essential stat checks to survive require at least 14-16 scheming on that path, and the only way to get more scheming is passing the scheming checks which I needed scheming for...
>>743695624Ignoring the BS stat requirements, all three routes have too much overlap because of the civil war and family drama subplots which are the same every time. The civil war should have been tied to the commoner route, and family drama divided between the other two.
>>743695894We see different sides of the civil war depending on each path. Each family member is also tied to a certain path and extra options are unveiled for their events.
>>743695856>10 scheming>20 manipulation>20 diplomacyhow the fuck? Your initial scheming is dependent on previous choices. You probably focused too much on Determination during Childhood instead of Perception.
>>743696282>you failed because you made the wrong choices as a toddler
>>743696282Yeah it was my first playthrough and I figured "maxing 1 stat at the beginning is better than spreading myself too thin across both". I wasn't aware the stats would change later and then combine. >>743696448>story of my life
>>743696448There are no "right" or "wrong" choices - it depends on which path you take. If you're going to be a noble then focus on stats which are related to nobility.
>>743696615The first half of the game favors spreading your stats around. The second half punishes that. There's no rhyme or reason to it. You're supposed to use meta knowledge.

>>743696786Game never gives you a definitive answer. What the twins do say, is that Arknians are destined to rule and that the Arknian Empire is holy in of itself. So the prophet guy, Isatius, wrote down the holy texts and assumed that the way the empire was run at the time was holy so the lots must be holy too.The new faith thinks Isatius interpretation is wrong. That's all. The biggest losers in this conflict are the lotless because no matter what they do they are going straight to this universes hell.
>>743666937>(You) are the productAlways explains why I'm in high demandHEY-O
>>743697256Thing is, Isatius only wrote down the Lots based on the caste/estates system of his time period. But in the present day the socio-economic climate has changed and the Lots don't reflect the new reality.
I don't know how people like this game. All the plot points are ripped straight from Les Miserables and Pillars of the Earth, the blue people are a direct ripoff of the Gamilians from Space Battleship Yamato, and the whole "you have three extra lives" thing is so dumb even the authors realized it was a bad idea.
>>743697517The extra lives thing is just their version of a wound system. I've seen it in other games.

I need my willpower for more important shit.I mean, life *is* like that sometimes.

Each final illustration was created by a specific artist. All artistic decisions, composition, movement, characterization, lighting, color, and presentation are the work of our artists. >>743704290No, I simply don't care if the game is using ai. You can screech, fart and shart all you wnat but AI will continue to be used and there is literally nothing you can do about it. I suggest less crying or you will die of dehydration
>>743704340>and for an artistic, soulfull indie projectI also understand that indie projects dosn't have billions to blow on twatter trannies who make bad art. the art was never the main draw of the game - it was pretty damn ugly in Brante. >>743704856>Guys, of course I proofread my posts with neural networks>of courseThis is straight up scary. >Get to Flavius' introduction >aww he seems quite innocent, i'll help the lil guy out>Few years later, he becomes an absolute egomaniac (Joffrey from GoT but somehow fucking worse)The devs played me
>>743723903After getting most of the way in, younger was probably right. Elder wanted compassion for all after death.>>743724271Same, it was neat. I hope there's a way to kill him, but at this point the game seems pretty intent on "muh absolute power crumbles your immortal soul absolutely!" instead of "being god on earth is actually fucking cool as shit".The creed seems like hell of a chapter, I need to replay it today and I already barely made it through yesterday and lost almost all of my sanity.
>>743724426>Same, it was neat.well i'm playing as an evil noble so I might side with him lol>The CreedHaven't gotten there yet. Hope its as kino as chapter 4 in Brante.side note: I've heard people say there is AI art but so far I haven't found it noticable. The writing of this game however is of the same style as Brante so I doubt they used Ai to write the game
>>743724426>Elder wanted compassion for all after death.Given the nature of the aftelife in the setting, this doesn't seem too eggregious. Ultimately it comes down to whether it's better to spare everyone or obliterate some percentage of people who don't deserve it to make sure those who are guilty are punished.
>>743724608 NTA but I can kinda understand the Younger's issue with this. The Elder wants ALL souls, regardless if they are in the Peak or the Foot of the pillar, to receive this eternal Love which doesn't feel very lawful.
>>743724271I remember Brante's brother was similar relatively well meaning as a child, if a bit indoctrinated, and then after the Grandfather he's genuinely kind of a dick to everyone.
>>743724939Nathan was more of a lost soul who didn't really belong anywhere. Yes he got his family into trouble but you still felt some pity for him. But Flavius? Lmao fuck no
>>743724574I can definitely see some AI slop, some of the animation is very AI looking. The writing seems fine though, aside from one mention of "making the empire great again" and the 5 times I've encountered "that made me cringe" in the fucking translation, but these might just be issues with whatever freak is translating the game.
>>743670587Disco is more like a VN with gameplay but yeah it's quite kino.>>743670670Roadwarden is great yeah, Alchemist route was very engaging even though I lost fights with animals.
>>743725121yeah if there is use of AI in art then the devs should be held accountable for that. Regardless, I started the game without knowledge of this and still enjoyed it just fine. It could also just be art mistakes (last game had many of those too and that was before AI)
>>743725051I meant the other brother, but yeah Nathan kind of got cucked. He's sort of a bitch but to be fair after he was born he was basically an abuse goblin to his Grandfather, Mother, and Father. And in some respects, the other brother as well. Gloria kind of ignored him too. You can't really blame him for how he ended up.
>>743725232Oh yeah you meant Stefan my bad. Still it was sad to see Nathan end up that way, and that event where he opens up to you felt quite emotional. One of the endings where you help Nathan become a Prophet was quite funny and fitting for the guy.
>>743725358Yeah it is pretty interesting. Good for him to somewhat turn his life around. Stefan at least felt like the sibling that turned to you and confided in you the most.
>>743666880Cool, I have had it on my wishlist for like 4 years.
>>743670670isn't that game woke?
>>743725498It's a bit woke but it's not offensively woke. All the woke stuff is kind of opt in except for I suppose strong "independent" female characters. It's got good atmosphere, the mini rpg systems it has are nice enough and the writing is nice.

wait you play as a arkanian in the new game? why the fuck would I want to do that?
>>743726141Jerian offers you a glimpse into hedonism, degeneracy, and evil the likes of which you wouldn't understand in Brante (nobles are worse than Epstein and Arknians are basically Caligulas on crack)

>>743729151I mean, it is her, just her before she was reborn as a Tempest. Honestly, knowing more of the story makes her more sympathetic, she had to marry an impotent homosexual instead of his cooler brother.
is the sequel story good? Wanna pirate it but want to know if it would be worth my time
>>743729267Without spoiling i'll just say this: things get more batshit the further you progress, far more than the first game ever got.
>clutch through chapter 4 with all my reforms by the skin of my teeth>hit the wedding and my wifey saves me by improving my standing with the council at the last hour before I get hit with total breakdownI love this bitch, even if she doesn't love me.>>743729267It's pretty good. Feels more expansive but I don't think there are set routes this time, you have a set Lot and you can't change it, just pervert it. I like all the world building stuff, you get a much clearer picture of the true state of the world due to your position.
>been waiting for this game for a while>find out there's ai slop in it>no way to tell if any of the writing is ai tooit's like i just ordered my favorite dish and there's a bug in it
>>743729224 eh, Cornelius is cool but hes also very hypocritical. He doesn't really care about the humans, he just thinks the dynasty needs to side with them in order for them to survive
>>743729364I don't think he's right, but he would've been a better emperor than his spineless brother. The true emperor is the guy who killed the witch Milanias or whatever his name was, that guy understood Jerian's will. Might makes right, fuck the true houses, fuck the humans, they're all pawns in the game of house Tempest.
>>743729361I didn't hear about the AI rumors before playing it myself, but I can tell you that the writing style didn't feel different from the first game at all. Maybe they used AI to translate some lines weirdly but otherwise I doubt it. The art also looks normal for the most part and is the same style as the previous game.
>>743729361Imagine you grew up with everyone around you telling you cow dung was bad and disgusting, so you just assumed it was true. Then you had the most delicious yogurt ever, only to find out after that it was made from cow dung. Would you get angry, or would you act rational like all the brahmins at Microsoft? They have to force feed you AI until you stop being such a luddite chud, why can't you see it's good for you like the cow dung?
>>743729340 is there any way to make her genuinely love you?
>>743729507if i eat the cow dung yogurt and it tastes good then it only means people worked very hard to disguise the taste of cow dung which is a shame because it would have been that much better without the cow dung in the first place and now i can't enjoy it because i caught a whiff of the cow dung
>>743729603I just started chapter 5, probably not. I think Agatha is meant to be the "canon" choice if you ignore your blood tide, but that bitch was far too pompous for a whore. Loyalty is more important than love anyway, Arknians are fucking weird and they do weird shit like have a kid with a human to test the waters first, I don't think there's any love there aside from honor.
>>743729668 sad but thanks. I'll assume there has to be a way cuz even in the previous game you could make Jeanne convert to the New Faith. This game should have even more routes so we'll see. Considering that Stephen's suggesting it and he doesn't really like her, I'd err on the side of not supporting the marriage but he DOES have a point that, should the husband be a good one, it would probably improve her life to marry into nobility.
>>743737153You're in one of the turning points of the game. I'll just say this: you cannot satisfy both siblings no matter which ending you pick in the game. >>743737153Marry her
>>743737153>I'm a sisconSo you're retarded. Not gonna give you any advice then. Wallow in your retardation alone
I feel like the new game doesn't have as much content. Feels like the first half of a game that they rushed out after running out of budget, which is a shame because I really liked what was there. Maybe it opens up more with different decisions, I didn't even get to go visit the twins. I didn't play the first game that much, did you find out that the new order are just trying to damn enough peasants at the foot to make the gods reconsider the whole "Lots" bullshit? I guess it was slightly implied by them storming the tree in the first game and getting true death'd for it.
>>743738000There are multiple, completely different paths you can take with events tied to them. Some characters are more relevant and have more appearances in those paths.
>>743738153Are you always railroaded into the council? Feels pretty clear cut, maybe there was an earlier branch point I missed where you can become a waster like your father.
>>743738195I think the childhood friends are more important if you decided to reject the blood tide.
Did anyone find the shadow of the will ending if there is one?
>>743666880>VN that revolves around minmaxing stat points so you don't get arbitrarily locked into a bad ending (not as a consequence of the actions you took but because the completely unrelated conversational option you picked 12 chapters ago gave you -1 in agreeableness or whatever)This "game" is so shit it astounds me that it has any kind of following whatsoever
>>743739347I'm guessing you get it if you kill your father and take his place for the mystery, but I didn't have the stats for it. My second run I'm trying a hardline Arknian, so maybe it'll pop up.

So it looks like siding with the new faith guy while having Agatha as your love interest is the way to get the good ending with the gods. I made it there and just got foot'd for my troubles because I didn't pick her or ignore the gods.
I just finished the first game. Chapter 4 was kinda a nightmare, I ended up stopping giving a shit about the family or tommas because they were a pain in the ass. Also feels like you definitely get railroaded into being a rebel if you choose the nobility path. And there's simply not enough ways to regain willpower. It's retarded that dying doesn't at least reset your willpower to 0
>>743747385No. As nobility, you can choose to side with your uncle to be a rebel or oppose him. It depends how high your "career" stat is
>>743747714I had no way to do anything else because my deception and manipulation was below 10.
>>743740387>not as a consequence of the actions you took but because of the consequence of the actions you took?
>>743747898Didn't you get an event where you met Remy El Verman? If you didn't that probably explains it. I think you need like 8 points on the career ladder for it.
>>743747976The magistrate/mayor guy? Yeah, but I told him to fuck off because he was running interference for the blue dick. Also I decided to end the nobles private court because I am the law. It's just that when the checks started getting requirements like 10 willpower and 10 if some stat I've never prioritized which then closed other doors permanently. Basically my prowess and charisma carried me to an ending, but literally all of the choices were gray or some variation of retarded (like not killing Sophie, for example)
>>743745734>>whisky>>wineglassAAAAIIIEEEEEEE IT'S AI HUMANS WOULD NEVER MAKE MISTAKES LIKE THIS!
>>743748190Ah, I think I understand now anon. Without spoiling too much, I'll say that there are 4 different ways the Noble path can go>Extremist poorfag lover = Support Mayor Egmont>Moderate poorfag lover = support your uncle El BorneThe other two are basically variants of which noble you support, either the new Archduke Gaius or Milanidas (represented through Verman). Each of them are different people tho, but if you rejected Verman's deal and your carrier is high enough then Gaius comes to you
>>743748409forgot to mention, but you deciding on ending the nobles private court is pretty much you saying "yep fuck you bitches, i won't accept your opression against the poorfags" soo that probably explains it...
>>743748526The nobles have no right to run a parallel criminal justice system at odds with the Emperors judges, simple as
>>743745734>whisky>wineglassI've seen americans siping vodka from whiskey glasses.
>>743748596Eliminating the Court of Honor is one of the main decisions of the storyline and doing so pretty much ubiquitously puts you on the Rebel path
>>743748368why are you mad? it's a literal who indie slop game, just join in and shit on it or find another thread
>>743666880>can't fuck gloriaCringe. She's not even blood related
>>743748791She is. Half-blooded tho
>>743670997>but the mechanical part is absolutely dogshitI got pissed off when I maxed out my strength or whatever the sword fighting skill was during the childhood part, then I still lost TWO separate fights as a noble both causing deaths. Game is nigh unplayable without reading a guide so you can minmax every stat
>>743748791>Can't just have Stefan marry gloria and fix herI'm mad about this
>>743749332Determination isn't your strength, more like how ambitious and confident you are.
>>743671246I really like this game but I hate how it's missing VN features like skipping text, etc.
>I will play as noble so I should max Valor and Diplomacy to win duels and negotiate>I will play as lotless so I should max Scheming and Manipulation to boil plotsCringe>I will play as noble so I should max Scheming and Manipulation to boil plots >I will play as lotless so I should max Valor and Diplomacy to lead the revolutionBased
>>743677682>human resourcesAfter reading A Deepness in the Sky, human resources has a very dystopian and disturbing context for me now, and current situation in the world and job market is exacerbating it even further.
>>743748627I drink all my beverages from whatever's at hand. I don't give a shit about this fancypants "the right glass for the right beverage" garbage
>>743748736>slopBut it doesn't have poorly hidden trannification or muh depression metaphors, or pixel graphics so it can't be slop by definition
>>743736727I wouldn't consider that offensively woke until it beats you over the head with it personally. I didn't it wasn't woke but rather that it was the more inoffensive type. Also, I had forgotten about that
The biggest woman moment in the game so far. I shouldn't have given them the title should I? Only hope now is that Emil is a proper man, else I will be throwing them both in the shit pit.
>Some art tranny is screaching about AI in this threadI should buy this game with money.
>>743752520good morning saar
>>743695017I grew to hate every single member of my "family" as I progressed with the game. This bitch especially.
>>743752062I succumbed to my passion and had sex with her anyway, worth it. If you lead them both down the path of being fucking retards then they get captured by Cato later on for tempting Arknians, who didn't even seem to give a shit that I let him marry a fucking human, and you can choose to kill them, pardon them, or just let Emil die.
>>743745734>>whisky>>wineglassYeah, it should be a nosing glass.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVG1U-faqHY
>ignore my fiancee and pursue the forbidden uncle's fiancee fruit instead>she starts smashing all my death masks so I either have to turn her into a blood slave or let her be retardedIt was alluded to in another ending, but I had hoped she would be tamable. The only girl who remains is Martha now, I guess I'll take that retarded whore to the gods. None of the chicks are very good in this, as emperor I should at least be able to make a harem given the max number of kids you can have with a blue wife is 4.
>>743752579Indans are poor anon, you should know better.
>>743753128>buying ai slopsaar do not redeem
>>743710365>being dogshit is the point and nuancedholy shit I hate drakengardfags so fucking much
This was the best piece of dialogue in the game so far, it actually made me sad. All I can hope for is that this poor sod doesn't get swept away by the tide. T
>>743754056 Oh boy, this will become so funny once you go further in lol
>>743754056Well fuck
>>743754056I hope he likes that lute I got him!
>>743672907Dunno I went full Sollchud and I still beat Rumburg, was re-elected, bitch wife came back, etc.I think the game allows you to win as anything really.

Is it more optimal to die as a child for the +2 stats increase or should I watch my toys melt in the fire for the +5 willpower gain?(This is my second playthrough so don't moralize me.)
uh oh
>>743758712Don't. That death is worthless in the long run.
>>743758907I'm going down the Path of the Priest this time, will I need any deaths for that? I did Lotless before and I never died as an adult, if I knew that I would have thrown myself to get killed by the carriage too as a teenager.
>>743759049The most worthwhile death is the one where you rescue Sophia from horses. Make sure you have the willpower for that.
>>743753430I'm not saying it's good tho perhaps a good compromise would be an easy mode with more forgiving options and a "suffering mode" that removes them.
Fuck you to whoever recommended Roadwarden. I thought Suzerain was wordy, but this is ridiculous. Paragraphs upon paragraphs of filler text with 2 lines of importance that you have to fish out manually. This is torture.
>>743759049Noble is the only path with multiple adult deaths. For common/priest you may as well die as a kid because it won't matter.
>Would you like to read a book, anon? >Would you like to read a book on your PC under the guise of a video game? >Now would you like to read a book on your PC under the guise of a video game, but with pictures? >Oh no...it's not a visual novel. It's a book with pictures. >It's kino and free, anon. Come on.
>>743761205yeah i tried playing the demo but I just couldn't take it. Maybe I'll try again if its as kino as some say
>>743748694Is there any reason to be a rebel noble? It sounds self-defeating.
>>743761614>Play as a prideful nobleman>At the end join rebels to destroy Otton in battle
>>743761730You can already own Otton via the court of honor. On the other hand, during the civil war I saw there's an option to join his side. Why the FUCK is that an option?
>>743761614You get to rule over the new city state as one of the Governors.
>>743761801>Why the FUCK is that an option? If you chose to side with Milanidas' faction, then Otton can be your ally.
>>743761819So is that something you do if you don't become a noble of the sword? Is that the point?
>>743761205damn, dawg, sorry you didn't like it. to me it's pretty close to something like the classic game books of the 80'si really liked how slow and laborious it starts out as you explore a hostile wilderness, but as you take time to do something like painstakingly dump rocks into a river each day you slowly build a bridge that cuts your travel time down. by the end of the game the entire area feels like it's changed and you've conquered the wilderness.
>>743761801>Why the FUCK is that an option?Well, his side is empire side so...
>>743761884>So is that something you do if you don't become a noble of the sword? Not exactly. This is separate from becoming a Noble of the Sword. You can be a Noble of the Sword and still have access to this ending. The point of this ending is that you chose the people to not be oppressed by the evil nobles. And they pretty much chose Brante and El Borne as the new leaders of the independent city state.
>>743761885I feel like I really would have liked it if it focused more on the mechanics instead of filler text. Conceptually it's great, the execution is just terrible.
>>743762004I'm asking about what it makes sense for Brante to do. If the empire wins they reform to become more progressive anyway. Going through all the effort to become a noble of the sword and throwing it away by joining the rebellion is dumb.
>>743761614>>743761801>ree there can't be alternative timelines and gameplay choices one can make for a difference in how my character develops ree stop giving players more freedom! keep them gay, token and cucked!
>the objectively best ending is the one where you become a glowie and murder the revolutionaries in cold bloodWhat did the developers mean by this?
>>743762354>Russian dev>Secret Police ending is the best oneHmmm...
>>743762007>filler texti think there's a disconnect here as i enjoy reading a description of a bugs crawling out of a rotten log or trying to read weathered lettering on deteriorating signposts, trying to discern which direction was the one you're supposed to go in
>>743762482>trying to discern which direction was the one you're supposed to go inThat shit actually made me drop the game. I got directions from somebody that weren't accurate to how the map was laid out. It was infuriating.
>>743762086Depends on how the empire wins. Gaius may decide to not become more progressive at all as well.As for Brante, becoming Noble of the Sword is more of a family objective rather than an individual one. The question is if Brante is willing to sacrifice so much for his grandfather's wishes. Becoming Noble of the Sword doesn't mean you get fewer privileges on the Rebel Path (there are two ways for the rebel path anyways, a peaceful or violent victory). It depends on how you play the character.
>>743761875>Otton can be your ally.I'd rather die
>>743751964let's just go back to calling the devs fags and leave it at that, the word woke means something different to everyone after the bastardization campaign by that fat fuck who tried to coin "woke right", which is a contradiction akin to saying the left right. bin it, the word is dead
>>743762981That's fair. The game doesn't force you to, but the option is there. I prefer kicking his ass in the duel with 20 Valor. SUPER satisfying kek.
>>743762354>the objectively best endingWhat makes it so good? Sell it to me.
>>743763637Hes lying. Its the most Game Of Thrones-like ending.>t. over a 100 hours
>>743763637You avoid the civil entirely, the empire takes liberal reforms, and you become a noble of the sword to satisfy grandpa. The only downside is having to kill your love interest and moralfag sister hating you, but they suck anyway.
>>743763736I bet you love the "I become le heckin god" reddit ending.
>>743764386nah, that one is funny but certainly not one of the best ones
>when you die you either get absorbed back by the Eldest and melt into the collective unconscious and live forever in bliss>or you get cut down by the Youngest and your soul disintegrates out of the universe >either way, you as you are stop existing entirely>oh but your descendants can use blood tide to call you any time :^) What? Is this explained or is it a plothole?
>>743764802I think a semblance of your soul remains via the Blood Tide. Only for Nobility tho.
holy shit, Flavius is an asshole
>>743704163an explanation could be since both players are moving pieces its plausible they are resetting the board for a 2nd game or something
>>743764802The blood tide and death masks aren't actually the person, they're the memory left behind by them. The soul returns to the twins. The blood tide honestly seems barely any better than the elder's "love".
>>743762354The best ending is the one where I get to be fantasy Martin Luther and inform the church that the selling of indulgences will cease.
>>743765697I was really expecting him to be a usurper but all he did to me was be melancholy about being a worthless Nathan tier fuckup with no real Lot. And hunt random women for sport, but come on, we've all done that before.
>>743767045dont forget becoming patriarch and marrying jeanne
>>743767220And creating Saint Nathan, that's also important.
>>743761314It can't be a VN because all the girls are shit.
So without any meta knowledge Old Believers are objectively the good guys?
>>743758712>optimalwhy play a VN to optimize?if you want to become a noble, you want to make friends with grandps, i'll give you that hint
>>743768614>he doesn't know
Love? Law? Or... Will...?
>>743768614The virgin new believer I will condemn a million souls at the foot of the spire with lies in hopes of maybe making the Younger reconsider the Law for a second maybe... vs the chad Brante yeah old man I just met maybe just get rid of the Lots? lol
>>743768817In Sir Brante I died because I lost vital forces defending my home from looters. In prince Jerian the bald guy clearly states he will condemn hundreds of thousands in the hope that maybe, just maybe the Younger one will reconsider his choice. Both he and the Elder say you are pretty much doomed since I went with the new faith.
>>743769850I really hope you're hanging out with Agatha, or you're going to get judged and die before you get to show off your cool new creed.
The later chapters of Jerian really remind me of the Small Council meetings during early Game of Thrones. I kinda like it, weirdly enough.
>>743770020Not that anon but>retarded human hippie whoreI really have no idea why the devs thought anybody would pick her.
>>743770064They're a bit too easy when you realise all you really need is to be above 0 with everyone, and then force through with blue points if you don't have +2 in the important ones for that piece.Honestly, I was disappointed in the creed stuff. Feels all very meaningless, which I guess it is given the Will is coming back any day now.>>743770131She's the fucking messiah, lol.
>>743770260>intentionally sees spoilersDamn. I didn't plan on picking her next run but now I might, thanks anon.>above 0 with everyoneDepends on what type of reform you want i guess
>>743770454If you take her you need to go new faith and sacrifice yourself like the rest of the retards for her eventual ending after you cause both the twins to despair when they try and judge you for it.
>>743770020You don't mean to tell me everything I have worked for so far, the creed, keeping as many people alive as possible, forming 80+ strong alliance with the estates will end in a blue ball ending?
It's sad that this setting will never get a full blown rpg since it's games have a budged of a pack of vodka
>>743770674Shouldn't have chosen to go against your Lot, buddy!
>>743770640dw I intend to go New Faith/Social Reformist for my next run anyways. I was kinda curious about Agatha, but I disliked how she was mocking you during her introduction event
>>743770685The closest thing to a "cool" setting in a regular RPG is Elder Scrolls which is just magic mushroom induced CHIM slop.I don't know how you could even do a setting like this without it falling apart thematically when you take your Lotless on a Arknian murder spree with no consequences.
>Come and SeeThis is not a reference to the movie right? It's pretty much the only thing I can try to get and not have to replay the whole game.
>>743771425Why wouldn't it be?
>>743771425It's a reference to the name of the movie. Not necessarily to the theme of the movie
>>743771425It's from the Bible, bro. That's where the movie got its name
Does Jerian balanced any better or do you still need absurd amounts of minmaxing to achieve anything?
>>743772693They improved on that aspect. Basically every year you get a chance to either buff all your stats at once by a point, or buff another aspect such as Law/Love, etc. It makes things much more manageable IMO.
