The idea is that Young Xehanort already knew what was going to happen to Sora, he knew Sora would eventually beat him, but Young Xehanort can't stop fate, so he has to play the role of a cryptic Dark Seeker in DDD / KH3. Then decades later, the Anemesic Terra-Xehanort theorizes about the other side, because those memories are etched on his heart. Also let's go over Terra-Xehanort in KH3. Terra-Xehanort says "Seeing you ALSO have taken the forbidden path, you TOO must be ready to make the ultimate sacrifice." Also and too imply lived experience, Sora is not the only one that took the "forbidden path".
