Palworld card game hits 3.5 million packs sold before it even officially launches

The game drops July 30 and pre-sales alone are already historic

The same studio that survived a Nintendo lawsuit is now going after Pokémon on its own turf

The physical card market

40 million players, 850,000 concurrent on Steam, number one on SteamDB

And now 3.5 million packs sold before launch day

Is the Palworld TCG the Pokémon card competitor the market has been waiting for?

Are you buying on launch day?
>>
Maybe logan Paul will start a palworld market trading
>>
Bushiroad approached pocketpair for this by the way, not the other way around.
Who the fuck is buying all of these though? People who assume it'll be like pokemon levels of popularity? I know people like palworld a lot, myself included, but I can't imagine the Venn diagram for palworld fans, card game fans, and people who are willing to preorder boxes of sets in a card game is very big
I'm positive it's mostly scalpers taking a gamble
I'll wait for it to be on cardmarket and buy singles of the pals I like

Card game market is filled with scalpers and retarded "investors" who buy said scalped items. Every new card game that launches is guaranteed to sell out because of this. If you own a remotely known IP you'd be retarded to not create a physical tcg right now.

So, if "players" barely go over 1 million, that's 180k Americans and 50k Germans for some reason. Also... no Japanese fanfare at all for such a "Japanese" company.
Yeah, this is just speculative Chinese and scalpers. Sorry palcucks, Ziony keeps their losing streak.

You're compare Pokemon with 30 years of infrastructure with Palworld which has only been out for like 2. Shit like the card game and anime only happened after the game was successful in Japan and companies wanted to work with Pokemon. Another anon compared the revenue in the thread with Pokemon's early revenue and it is about the same. The fact that the card game has quite a bit of interest shows there is a real market for Palworld outside of just the games Whats really going to make the series blow up is Palfarms and the mobile game

It isn't built to be, and it shouldn't try to be.

So I was at anime expo a couple weeks ago, and Palworld was THE headliner at Bushiroad's booth. They even limited the product so you could only buy one of each starter deck. Honestly the booth was very busy and it seemed like people were really interested in the game

TCGs are going through a boom right now, I think you're probably under estimating the appeal of nerdy guys that are into palworld who might also want to buy cards of their favorite guys. It's ultimately the same idea behind the Pokemon TCG just with a smaller IP.

I think the big buyouts are mostly scalpers, but I do think there is some real demand going on as well. We'll have to wait to see if that demand actually materializes into a sustainable game though. Bushiroad doesn't have the best track record I feel.

Palworld has better combat and movement than ARK, and that means that exploration is more fun.

I'd agree that ARK has more interesting environments (Palworld should completely rework caves and add a giant underwater area) and I kinda prefer the way that base building is handled there, but they fail at the most important part. The difficulty comes from it being a clunky game.

NTA but its fair to say Pokemon is stagnating. Even the games sales, which seem impressive, are propped up by people buying both versions to the point where this is becoming a viable strategy for the company. The TCG is only kept alive by scalpers. Outside of Japan, it's a declining brand. This is the reason Palworld took off in the first place. The risk from Palworld isn't that its going to completely replace Pokemon but will steal its marketshare. There is a real risk Palworld becomes for the game for teen to 30 year olds where Pokemon is for 40 year olds who grew up on the game and little kids who will just move onto Palworld once they get older (this has always been a problem for Nintendo. Appeal to kids but offer nothing once they get old enough where Bing Bing Wahoo seems a little cringe).

Look Tendie you have to accept this game is successful at this point. Palworld has been in the top 10 most played games on Steam twice. The TCG already has a lot of presales. Once the lawsuit is over, you will see more deals being made. And yes, a game with guns and slavery is going to be more popular than a game where everything is solved by friendship. There is a reason Nintendo not only tried to get patents to stop Palworld but also the unreleased mobile game.
And yes you are a Tendie. The way I know is you quoted two post thinking they are the same person and they aren't. This is the universal Tendie tell

>it sold 7 millions copies
Because they think “millions” has to agree with “copies”

the backgrounds in these cards are 100% going to be AI shit with plenty of mistakes, kek.

the pals might even be AI, just take a screenshot of one in-game and ask gemini to give it a hand drawn look

I wish my local card shop was better because the closest one to me barely has anything not MtG. How do you even preorder anyways I feel like I can't see any option on their site or on global Bushiroad.

There's this but they as usual don't ship internationally.

TCG collectors are their own thing, they're whales and I wouldn't be surprised to see a large number of them jumping on something they see as having potential.

I don't think Palworld has anything to worry about. It won't be as big. Hell they keep advertising it but I don't see it in my local comic book shop where they'd have it. Huh, is it really as big as it seems?
>>

>but I can't imagine the Venn diagram for palworld fans, card game fans, and people who are willing to preorder boxes of sets in a card game is very big
your issue is thinking that they have to be in a venn diagram to be interested
a lot of card game players try new upcoming TCGs just for the fun of it, because they like cardgames, even if it's from an IP that they have 0 knowledge or experience about (i know a lot of people whose introduction to digimon was basically the TCG and they only played it because it seemed like a good game)
people who collect, be it card collectors or palworld fans, will also want to get the cards even if they are not as interested in trying out the game
there's no universe where this TCG becomes as big as pokemon TCG, and i'd even doubt it'll become as big as something like digimon or lorcana, but that wouldn't really make it a flop anyways and i think it'll do well enough
>>
it's all scalpers. I hate everything, not that I give a single fuck about any trading card games, but this shit is pathetic.

none of these scalpers are even making that much money, it's chump change. The only ones making money are the ones spending like hundreds of thousands of dollars, and even then the margins aren't worth it over just dumping that kind of money into the S&P

Weiss Schwarz is only the "most popular" in the west because of it being Waifu fortnite, an the screen caps are a part of that

For their other properties, like the HololiveOCG and Palworld too, they use actual artists

If I had a dollar for everytime I had to answer with "No, we only have Perfect Order and Chaos Rising."
Motherfuckers out there thinking that we'll just randomly get some 151 booster boxes. Cunts pushing and shoving over fucking shiny cardboard.

it's not AI lol, fags just keep spouting that
>>
>>743714174
It's all scalper, they all "invest" in any card game from any IP with a modicum of popularity in hopes to make the big bucks.
Pocket Pair should just keep printing more cards until they get tired of it.
>>
soooooooo what do the high rarity cards look like? You need to have everything in a base print and some high rarity chase cards in some autistic foiling.

>This shit should just be regulated as gambling, especially since it's aimed at children. If people could just readily buy the exact cards they wanted to construct their decks and supply could be made to meet that demand it would solve all the problems.

Whats sad, is that you wrote this post unironically, and you don't realize how fucking stupid it sounds.

You act like the secondary market doesn't exists.
You want TCG space to be regulated for gambling, even though the entire TCG model is gambling. Like, TCG aren't like monopoly or Uno for a reason, because the chase, scarcity and rarity is part of it.

We're well past the era of an anime airing on children TV having a massive cultural impact
Most kids these days are on the internet and I highly doubt they can rally behind a single IP like previous generations did for Pokemon, Dragon Ball, TMNT, etc.

Funny, but also dogshit
I wonder if the artists at bushiroad themselves don't want to be credited just in case they get into trouble with nintendo later on or something, it feels so weird
The monster arts look nice though, despite the suspect backgrounds (and I hate that I'm saying that part)
>>
>>743764198
Nintendo is so petty I wouldn't be surprised if they were running AI algorithms to track who drew art for the Palworld tcg

Nothing specific but we have an idea. From the Teraleaks, some of the titles have 40-50% of their early adopters buying both games. It varies from title to title, but its a bigger portion of sales than anyone realized. The slide in question was debating how to make more money and one of the arguments against raising the price is it might eat into these multi-purchases.
For how big this is, if S/V has 20% of its users buy both games, then the 28 million sales looks more like 22 million players which is far smaller than Pokemon. It may also explain why the spin offs seem to do far less than the main games (they don't have an extra copy to buy). It may be why Nintendo is freaking out so much and even trying to get patents against a mobile game was haven't even seen yet. Pokemon is more reliant on whales then previously thought.
>>
>>743767736
That is an insane amount of people who buy both games
>>
>>743767736
I wonder how many of those people are just resellers. In thirdie countries it's common for import shops to just fly over to the US and buy a bunch of copies on GameStop to be able to get stock on release day
>>
>>743715001

I'm kinda tempted to get a pack myself. I don't the card came will ever get going, but cards are some fun gimmick march to buy as a one off.
