Honestly as I got older I just got sick of competitive multiplayer games in general. Don't get me wrong I'm really shit at them but it's less because I'm old and more because I just can't be fucked to keep up with all the daily-task-doing and rank grinding bullshit that plagues them now. It's definitely a bit of rose tinted glasses speaking (dealing with shittalking teenagers is not nearly as appealing now that I, myself, have not been a shittalking teenager for longer than most of the little fuckers have been alive) but everything migrating to small team based competitive matchmaking also definitely killed a lot of the community and "fun" the games used to have for me, but now I just get those from things like MMOs, co-op games, or autistic milsim-adjacent shit.
