Todd's masterpiece. I'm looking forward to ESVI because of Starfield.

No you see ~somehow~ in the past research in the past made earth somehow lose its magnetic field and atmosphere
so thus the only thing left was the empire state building

YOU BLEW IT ALL UP

Why didn't they just do a ruined statue of liberty?
Simple, classy, Planet of the Apes reference

Todd already had me sold with Fallout 76, and thanks to Elder Scrolls Online and re-releases like Oblivion, I'm more than happy to wait for TES VI coming 3/3/33.
>>
can you even explore it

>>743738940

No
>>
>>743738759
The game actually explains how, it was a bug with the early antigravity drives (or whatever they're called). So every ship in game is one software patch away from being a planet killer.

>Somehow the taller recognizable landmarks survive over 300 years of corrosion, flooding and harsh weather

No as modeling the interiors would have been too much work for the devs

one building? not even a city block, just one building in a desert? what the fuck was Todd smoking, seems like a game made by idiots
>>
>>743738759
I hate this explanation so much
even if the oceans boiled off and they accelerated the rotation of the earth to 20 times it's normal speed it would not smooth out the elevation like that. not to mention questions of how significant micro-meteor showers and radiation must be if you're getting fine grained sand in only 300 years without an atmosphere/water to weather the rock.
also all that shit would happened to the building too but also erased every other building around it? Picking up the building and dropping it somewhere else would somehow be a less retarded explanation for this.

I'm glad the xbox jeet lady is taking todd's fallout toys away
>>
>>743738661
So in the story the earth lost it's magnetosphere and got sterilized by cosmic rays or some shit, right? Where the fuck did all the martian rocks and sand come from? There is no part of the globe where it makes sense for the earth to look like that.

It's a fucking Easter egg, get over yourselves.

I wonder how much propaganda the next games will have

>the grav drive technology is revealed to be what ultimately destroys the earth and forces people to travel into space
>inciting incident for the entire story and the reason for the game's universe
>somehow, the earth got ravaged to the degree of being entirely covered in sand and losing all water
>everything is completely destroyed, besides a handful of landmarks which somehow look barely touched
>this is either extremely bad storytelling or lazy asset placement which undermines a central element of the plot
> "It's a fucking Easter egg, get over yourselves."

why not make it the Great Pyramid or Mount Rushmore or something? stuff made of stone will last an incredibly long time and starfield is only set about 200 years into the future, making the pyramids just shy of 4000 years old

What did bugthesda mean by this?
>>
>>743738661
that is so halfassed its insulting

like they could have just said earth is covered in smog or something and you cant visit it
>>
>>743739387

>>
>>743738661
It would have been moderately acceptable as an rare easter egg, but they just had to lead players there with a misc quest.
The other dumb part is that the model is pretty complex and bloats the disk size for very little reason.

>>743738661
Why are the rocks arranges so symmetrically? Are saars too retarded for even the simplest procedural generation algorithms?
>>
>>743741504
A laser as in a pointer or a weaponized laser?
Why is an obscure 20th century Russian spec ops rifle being used 400 years later anyways
Then again, I don't think I want to see bethesda artists take an imaginative leap into what 24th century firearms would look like.
>>
>>743741716
because everything outside that clear circle is LITERALLY useless, so it gets a once over random generated cell of "mining location", which is a rock repeated infinitely.

yes, rajesh is retarded, but it was todd howard who gave the OK for THE MOST LORE IMPORTANT MAP OF THE GAME to have 3-4 landmarks, and literally nothing else.
not even custom random trashed building scraps poking out of the sand.
not even random boat hulls

someone said "it'd be cool to have this" and suddenly vipul and the boys were working hard on modeling the tajmah hall, but when that didn't make the cut they just shipped the bare minimum on other countries monuments.
>>
>>743738661
all thanks to Mamdani's Sharia Law...
