Name an awful DOS game, I'm starting an Angry DOS gamer channel.
>>
>>743800497
I had a channel like that but stopped after 4chan found out about it.
>>
>>743800497
Flintstones platformer
I remember playing that as a kid and couldn't get past the 3rd level, but could complete Mario games no problem at the time. Didn't help that it defaulted to CGA graphics and I didn't know how to change them so it kind of painful to play too
>>
>>743800497
pick literally any of them
>>
>>743800641
I spent years thinking pc games were trash because I only knew about marios on console and on pc I only tried adventure games that I thought were shitty marios.
>>
>>743800721
platformers were basically all shit unless it was Commander Keen or Duke Nukem. DOS did not play nicely with platformers. Outside of those two, the only other one I remember liking was Halloween Harry(Which got renamed as Alien Carnage???)
>>
>>743800690
The vast majority of DOS games are good
>>
>>>/vr/
>>
>>743800786
I remember playing jazz jackrabbit and jill of the jungle on some shareware discs but didn't know what shareware was so thought they were unfinished fan games or made by kids like me because they were all really bad compared to mario.
>>
All I can remember from the DOS days is kino
>>
>>743800867
I wanna be in the timeline that had Nintendo giving id a license for a PC port of Super Mario Bros
>>
>>743800497
>awful DOS game
They all good, and better then every other game.
>>
>>743800906
Fighting Bowser with quad damage would be kino.
>>
>>743800497
Just download exodos and pick at random.
>>
>>743800497
Bargain bin CDs are your best bet. Plenty of shit you've never heard of.

Just download ISOs of some early/mid 90s demo disks and play the DOS shovelware on those
>>
>>743800497
literally all of them
>convoluted input schemes
>requires reading of the manual instead of tutorials
>no onscreen button prompts
>no shared buttons so you have like 50 keys that do different things
>pressing esc immediately quits the game
>way too complicated and complex games
thank god the Xbox 1 fixed all of this dogshit
>>
>>743801949
This. Devs just didn't know how to make games feel intuitive back then.
>>
>>743800906
That would've been literally the worst possible timeline since Doom, Quake and a lot of the games inspired by them would not exist.
>>
>>743801545
Looks comfy
>>
>>743802081
oh no, not my shooter slop
>>
>>743802034
Shitposting aside, I actually find the development interesting. At least with DOS games it was kinda justified, so you'd have I for Inventory, but old 3D FPS console games had the whackiest controls, where you used the analog stick to move the camera left and right, but you had to use the bumpers to move it up and down. Someone somewhere thought that was intuitive instead of just putting the entire camera movement on the analog stick
>>
>>743802181
its also funny looking back at reviews for old games, there's Alien Resurrection FPS on PlayStation that uses what is basically the modern control scheme for FPS and critics fucking hated it. Then Halo comes out and everyone loses their minds because it has a grenade button
>>
>>743800806
i agree but they're undeniably rage inducing as well and could make for good avgn copycat videos even if the games are technically good

My pick would be something by Ã…kesoft. They made Invataxi, Bepa Quest and Separila.

There are plenty of legitimate complaints for old computer games but these you listed are pretty much all skill issues

I only remember the good ones

Here's another one. It's not too bad mechanically, but the level design is abysmal.
>>
Ancients 1 Death Watch. What a piece of shit.
>>
>>743800497
Wizardry 6. The only good things about this game are the story, room descriptions, great looking boobs on some enemies and that you can transfer diamond ring to Wizardry 7 and get all the cool weapons from the city of the blonde babes.

I can not even remember the names of them at this point. All the big mainstream games like Commander Keen, Civilization 1, Warcraft 2, Command & Conquer, Might & Magic 2, Monkey Island are easy to remember because they were good. But, 30 years on, you simply can't remember the bad ones. The only thing you're going to get are people calling popular games bad. The ones that are truly bad are lost to time.
>>
>>743816354
There's bad ports of good games, like Street Fighter 2 and Mega Man

>>743800641
>Flintstones platformer
The Flintstones: Dino: Lost in Bedrock

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, Conan the Cimmerian, Moonwalker, Beethoven 2, Gremlins, The Jetsons: George in Trouble Again, Tongue of the Fatman, Obliterator, Baal, Viz, Morphman, Storm
>>
So... are we just ignoring Ultima or what's going on here?
>>
>>743800497
There was a ton of FMV experiments with games back then, trying to play on the strengths of PC that consoles didn't have. Like Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. They were a dime a dozen so it's impossible to recount them.
>>
Pick literally any DOS game from the 80s
>>
>>743816742
I got you, bro.
>Prince of Persia
>SimCity
Those were 1989. That's edging it a bit, I guess.
>Ultima IV
>Zork
Ultima IV was mid-80s. Zork was in the very early 80s, I'm pretty sure. Possibly 1979.
>>
>>743816742
King's Quest, Sid Meier's Pirates, Elite, The Bard's Tale, Maniac Mansion.
>>
>>743816742

next thing you know they'll be saying you NEED more than 10fps. fucking elitests
>>
>>743817494
Zork was literally 1 FPS. 1 frame per command.
Let me guess, you need more?
>>
>>743802670
Wasn't Separila just an Invataxi clone made by another devs? I remember it being made by the same people as Final Sieni.

When I was a kid I downloaded some shitty DOS FPS called Gigaman 3D off of AOL games and it was probably the worst game I ever played from that era. I remember the enemy sprites looked like Reboot characters.

Warsim is a procgen medieval fantasy Risk-like that runs in a command prompt, which basically counts right. Anyway it's bad because there are only dudes. Idk how the dev can treat his own little computer guys so poorly. If the game I was in had zero women until year 20 of development, I'd be pissed. Like where did I even come from, how are we going to secure this marriage alliance, for whom am I dying on the killing fields, why am I even alive. But I think it will be pretty good as soon as the dev invents hot ASCII babes, so you should hurry and play it before then.
