I mean, yeah, he's never made a strong attempt to snuff out his life, but Sonic's general attitude has always been "Whatever happens, happens" when it comes to Eggman's survival. I dunno if fans of the comics would even be that satisfied with their integration into the games. Most of them wouldn't be playable, and Sonic wouldn't be as close to them as he is in the comics due to differences in general lifestyles. Like in the comics, Tangle is a major member of his circle of friends, but in the games, she'd probably just be one of many acquaintances that he never visits.
