But that's kinda the issue too. 3 is far too safe of a game, especially for this series. 1 had the benefit of being the first game in the series, thus starting a new world, which was novel, and it helps that everyone just also loved the story and characters. X did something completely different and didn't serve as a continuation of the first game's world at all, which was a risk given people were probably expecting more along the lines of the first game. And then we got 2 which had the benefit of being the Xenoblade that released on the Switch in its first year and had so many contentious talking points that people still discuss it to this day.3 had none of that. No novelty from being the first, no novelty from doing something entirely different, no novelty from being the first of the series to release on the console, no novelty of controversy. It's a fine game, but against the rest of the series? it's not really worth talking about.

I remember getting to the Satorl Marsh/Uraya equivalent of 3 being so underwhelmed that it was crazy. When it comes to the towns, I get that it's like because of the setting but it still sucks.
