>beat bloodborne without too much issue>beat nioh 2 without too much issue>get my fuckin ass beat hereany tips how to get good? i get nervous during boss fights because they hit for a ton of health and their attacks are often very fast, making it hard for me to tell if im meant to try and deflect or dodge or attack. how do you approach learning a tough boss? i guess not necessarily in just sekiro but any game with tough bosses/encounters
>>743831906>making it hard for me to tell if im meant to try and deflect or dodge or attack. how do you approach learning a tough boss? You mostly want to deflect or counter-attack. Deflect is very generous, dodge is pretty bad. You'll learn the enemy patterns eventually with minimum risk. Even if you fumble, there's a reason why there are free resurrections. You also want to punish thrusts and sweeping attacks with mikiri/jumping. You might want to practice with the unkillable guy in the temple for those.
>>743831906Either learn how to deflect your enemies with repetition/ through instinct, or play "cowardly" by running often and chipping away damage. Almost everything can be deflected.
>>743832198when youre learning a boss do you focus on staying alive or on getting damage in?
Hesitation is defeat
>>743832437Are you having troubles with a particular boss? There are a couple notorious bosses that give new players a hard time.Generally speaking, I first watch the patterns while playing it safely, then go for openings. Sekiro is pretty generous with openings, though, since you can often just spam R1 when they deflect you.
>>743831906very few normal attacks can be punished with a dodge and only specific perilous attacks need to be dodged, otherwise you want to parry everythingalways stay aggressive even on low health, backpedaling is a time waste hesitation is the feet
>>743831906I just beat Sekiro and I'm now on NG+.There's couple of pain points like the Owl fights and lady cuntfly, but I don't think it's that hard overall. For the first few tries just focus on deflecting and learning the moves and once you've got those down then go in and be aggressive. The most confusing and unfun bosses I still don't understand what to do with are the ogres and bulls. I just flail around and eventually win but there's no strategy for those as far as I know.
>>743832715Agreed. At least you can just cheese ogres with fire prosthetic and bulls can be dealt with by running away.
>>743831906I don't know man, I quit pretty early. There is no fun to be hd in this game (and I platinumed Bloodborne offline so I guess I'm not THAT shitty).
my main tips would be>attack until you hear the telltale CLANG that's different than a block which means you were parried or whatever and then get ready to parry their next hit>be aggressive when possible>stand your ground, don't be afraid to die>you can spam the L1 parry button if you're not 100% on the timing for an attack, keep in mind it will slow down the more you do it but it lets you spam it a few times in the window of their attack no problem>if your posture meter is getting high, you can back off to hold L1 to restore your posture>getting hits in causes their health to go down, different points of their health bar will massively decrease the speed at which their posture restoresUltimately you will have to get parries down. if you have problems with a specific boss I'm happy to give tips. getting used to watching for sweeps you jump over (and then double jump on their head for posture) Vs. thrusting attacks you mikiri is a big part of it. but most of everything in the game is parryable. be patient you'll get it
>>743832274except for demon of hatred
>>743831906Early game is rough on your first playthrough so just try not to get discouraged. Deflecting is your primary defensive option, save for a handful of choreographed unblockable moves. Do get hits in when you can because depleting health does help, but you build towards killing most tough enemies by stance break and execution.
>>743831906>don't try to "game" the game, or "learn" a boss>treat every fight like you're a badass shinobi nigga in a swordfight and you'll have fun>stop dodgingthe game is
>>743831906you have to unlearn everything from previous games and treat it like a rhytm game instead of rolling and sidestepping you MUST parry and use your sidearms like the fan and firecrackers.i quit at the doubble monkeys because i couldn“t take the methodic slow yet fast gameplay anymore where over half of your kit is useless and you have to play by the boss rules , not your own.sekiro is good though but very tedious.
>>743832715Like the other guy said you are meant to cheese the ogres with fire to let you get in the free hitsYou can actually make the bulls stun themselves by making them ram into walls but its such a fucking godawful fight you are better off just sitting and stabbing its asshole
All you need is to remember who you're fighting for
>>743831906I have platinum in Sekiro (and so in every FS game). My advice is learn to parry, don't use any prosthetic arms until you beat every boss with just kusabimaru, learn jumping, learn Mikiri, git gud. This is the best FS game and if you get filtered by it then you suck ass and probably created overpowered builds in dark souls and elden ring
>>743831906any tips how to get good? What the fuck do you mean "how to get good"? You play the game and learn the deflect timings, sometimes the enemy does either a thrust attack that you mikiri counter, a sweep attack that you jump over or a grab/heavy attack that you dodge, but that's all there is to it. Sekiro is such a mechanically simple game that I struggle to understand why people ask for tips on how to play it. There are no complex pro gamer tactics or maneuvers that I can teach you that will make you some pro FGC level player at Sekiro because there's almost nothing to work with. Just go in, learn the defect timings and you'll end up being as much of a pro at Sekiro as Ongbal. It's that simple.
>>743831906>making it hard for me to tell if im meant to try and deflect or dodge or attackJust deflect, you're having a hard time because you blindly hope that Sekiro is an actual video game that lets you do things instead of just a parry simulator
>>743831906just spam L1
I hate how in NG+ you can't skip gunfort and genichiro because the snake doesn't spawn in the area after the gunfort until you've opened the door. They let me keep puppeteer ninjutsu so I thought I could do some sequence breaking here but all I got was disappointment.
