It's just not very fun. I played almost 300 hours but at a certain point there's nothing to do besides be a dickass thief and strictly PvP. There's no proper loop, it all ends at PvP being the only way to have fun. The new PvE mode also is just Cryo with nothing changed and no enemy players, something just about everyone has already done numerous times. I don't think I'll be reinstalling it regardless of what gets updated, but no way this survives into 2027.

hero shooter and required 3 player mic squad for EVERY run to actual enjoy yourself. solos and quick play are FUCKED and not a complete game. maybe it would've survived if it was a larger map with more spaced encounters and with customizable characters and the current loadout system sans abilities but then you remember it's a FUCKING EXTRACTION SHOOTER. the game looks and plays great but from a game design perspective it's schizophrenic. there are genuinely interesting and immersive aspects that are constantly overshadowed by some of the most retarded mismanaged decision making I've ever seen in a live service game. Bungie is like a couple dozen uber talented devs and artists just surrounded by nothing but absolute retards

>>743848302I honestly loved the game in theory, put over 200 hours into it but I've just had to accept that I'm just not built for pvp games like this. Despite all my experience I still completely fail at combat with other players 90-100% of the time. If I had real world friends to play with I can tell things would be different and I'd have lot more motivation to persevere because the team based gameplay is actually really spectacular when the conditions are right. The problem for me is as a solo or just crew filling with randos the difficulty level just becomes demoralizing to the point of becoming maddening and without the moral support of actual friends keeping your mood up it just doesn't work. The loses aren't funny after a while and just become depressing. Something about its combat mechanics just did not come together for me even though I'm not stranger to difficult fps games and I absolutely did not play "casually". I would say my problems were overwhelmingly of the "skill issue" variety but if the game felt impossible for me it probably felt even more impossible for most of the people who played with less commitment, hence the player loss. I don't really know what went wrong here specifically and part of me remains convinced that there's just som things about it that need to be tweaked to make it less grindy but ultimately I just think it was a really great theory of a game that just didn't pan out in practice.
