RIP Emile, he was a real one
>>
Reach sucked. I don't care if it was your first Halo and holds a special place in your heart, reachbaby, it was still shit and the beginning of Halo's downfall.
>>
Halo Reach was shit, it's a proto 343i game.
The Fall of Reach tells a better story with higher stakes, bigger scope, better characters, cool world building and insane space battles
>>
>>743912196
This. They might as well have not set it on Reach with how much they wasted that setting.
>>
The last good halo game was ODST
>>
Two niggas just read my mind before I even found this thread, but it has become retroactively decent because of how bad 343i games were. It was still however indeed a shit halo game that also shattered the forge/custom game community and fileshare culture h3 had nobody ever mentions thiswhen the population was already getting rekt by cod releases. Reach should've been another ODST style spinoff instead of a main line series game intended to 'replace' 3 as the active game. Splitting up the mp playerbase when H3 was still a perfectly serviceable game was not a good decision but whatever it's already done lol. If anything, they should've figured out how to upgrade the forge tools to be more like what reach would get.

Reach has always had its fanboys. They were the kids with a 0.84 K/D posting on forums all day.

I never understood it. Overall it just felt worse to play and the forge assets were completely lifeless compared to foundry and sandbox. It didn't add any new modes iirc besides invasion which was fun for maybe 10 matches, the campaign was alright but it's just spinoff material. I vividly remember almost my entire friend list at the time either went back to 3 within a couple of months or became cod players forever afterwards. Every time I look at a forge world map it makes me sick. I didn't care for the tacticool spartan look either. Like halo 3 was so much better in comparison you still had people buying and selling boosted accounts and making new forge maps a year or teo after reach. Reach's custom/forge/fileshare never took off in the same way and it's because the game basically sucked for anything other than the campaign and firefight. Idk I remember playing it with some people at gamestop at the pre-release, and I could just tell by the look on people's faces that they didn't like how weird the gameplay felt with sprint, bloom and the gay armor abilities.

Reach was new and shitters aren't as critical about games because they don't recognize its flaws. Bloom didn't matter to bnet kids because they were playing against people who took the system in good faith.

pic unrelated

>>743913307
I disagree. Reach's Forge was so much better than 3s. I had hundreds of hours just fucking around in customs just playing/ editing forge maps.
>>
>>743914691
I don't think I said anything negative about its functionality, it's just a shame about the game it had to be stuck in.
>>
Reach sucked. I’ve grown to appreciate it more over the years, but it’s still not great.
>>
Halo?
More like.
*Gay*lo.

Remember when people wouldn't shut the fuck up about armor lock.

And it was also the peak.

I think all of bungie's halo games are pretty good :)
>>
>>743915127
It deserved to be complained about.

>>743912196
the books are retarded

Reach added sprint
>>
I was really sour on Reach when it released. If only I knew how much worse things would get.

Remember when they grew up in a white country and we didnt get to inherit it?

>Remember when people complained about a shitty feature
Yeah
>>
>>743915220
>>743915371
And what did all the millions of hours of complaining get them? They shortened the armor lock duration in multiplayer. That's it. So it went on. Over and over again people would not shut up. If you lived through the era then it had to annoy you.

This is the moment when I realized Halo is a dead franchise.

Are you ready… for HALO REACH
>>
>>743915610
Lo and behold even after the TU, halo 3 still ended up having more people matchmaking and playing custom games and queues were still longer in reach. It never had a custom game culture because it was a bad game full of bad maps and hideous forge assets. If they didn't want people to complain about awful features then they shouldn't have added them to the game.

Crutch feature for shitters like you. Same with bloom

>>743915951
Sounds more like you just didn't have friends to play with then. I went from the General ranks to Hero almost entirely from the number of custom games played with buddies and the swaths of strangers we'd invite or get invited by from multiplayer matches

They all went back to 3 before I did.
