Since i couldn't bring myself to kill him for it i did it once, it was sad :( i had to struggle through the entire rest of the jungle blindly digging away from the doom moodle to the last one of my batteries with a laser drill while inventory juggling my machete to fight creatures attacking me along the way. Also did i mention that i ran totally dry of bandages halfway down and had to start LRDing myself for literally stubbing my toe...Anyway, was a very cool adventure overall. Unchipped is absolutely THE way to play this game.

You can play with this to add more to the effect, like saying that the pebbles are seemingly flowing in from the cave walls, implying their origin. It's not exactly the show-don't-tell rule, that applies to larger story beats better, but you can use this as an excuse to splurge about the environment while describing actions, rather than doing one after the other. I recommend varying what sense you want to affect - sight, smell, hearing, tactile sensations, etc, to liven up the prose.There's no real metric of when you're doing this correctly or not, but for example my example would have been better if I hadn't used the word "suddenly", and conveyed it some other way.

Holy shit desolate mode is far tougher than i expected. The lowered temperatures really REALLY fuck you up, i hadn't died of freezing to death ever since i was a beginner learning the mechanics and now it's the 3rd time in a row that i get done in by fatal hypothermia barely at the beginning of layer 2.I suppose i'll have to change strategies for this. Gonna make a whole stockpile of firestarters and campfire materials for my next run. The freezing cold doesn't fuck around.
If you roll cold caverns in default you will die from the cold very quickly. It's not a modifier you see often tho, it's always fucking hot or fog. Just do some push ups as it raises your temp for low stamina cost.

If you get wounded, bandage to stop the bleeding and then clean the wound so it doesn't get infected (glowfruits can be used in the medical menu as a makeshift disinfectant). Staying fed, hydrated, warm/cool, and clean are pretty intuitive too. Once you learn what's going to kill you and build good habits, keeping everything in check is almost automatic.The demo is only like 500MB. Do the tutorial, try a run (it's customary to share the story of your first death ITT), and then do the first aid tutorial. If it hasn't clicked at that point, you're probably not autistic enough.

You only need to absolutely know about maybe 30% of all medical mechanics (bandaging, disinfecting, fixing dislocations, pulling shards/shrapnel, opiates) to be able to deal with 90% of all injuries, once those things are second nature you will be able to deal with other situations as they come up. The better and more safely you play the less you need to care about shit like fibrillation or blood viscosity.Other than brain health which is your actual HP bar (0 = death) and recovers slowly every minute, the most important stat is mood.
Layer 2 (desolate) completed. Aside from the fact that using a torch for light requires me to do a lot of precise parkour so it doesn't get put out (totally catastrophic in level 2, this layer is pitch black darkness without a light, you WILL fall and die), i would say easy peasy.On to the desert we go. At least we got rose lights there so i can retire my torch. Although from here i'm really starting to get concerned about the lack of loot in the environment. I pretty much have only the basic first aid items that i could craft myself, so any serious medical emergency could very well result in my death. Wish me luck, bros.

To lose brain health you have to take head damage and/or take chest damage. These can all be totally avoided by wearing armour. The meds to fix brain damage are better for trading than using.
