That's why you save for certain banners and the spark system benefits you - when you need both characters, getting any 1 of them from the rolls guarantees that you can get the other one at 200 rolls. Now whenever you get the first character the pity resets and in the worst case you need another 200 rolls to get the other one. Also, previously, even if you didn't get the character in 200, you could keep rolling and as soon as you get her, you just spark the other one. Now getting one at exactly 200 is a disaster and a very real possibility of having to spend 400 rolls total.

This is a bit confusing. It's not strictly Mihoyo's system. If I understand this correctly, the 50/50 is offered only at the 100th pull. It is not offered as soon as you pull a 3-star. You could pull 99 3-stars and only the 100th has a 50% chance of pulling the featured character. If you lose it then you pull another 100 times to guarantee the featured character, and even if you pull another 99 3-stars along the way, they don't matter because only the 200th pull is guaranteed.In Genshin for example, either the 50/50 or the guarantee will always apply when you pull any highest rarity character (5-star), with the guarantee being applied the next time you pull a 5-star after you lost the 50/50. I don't know if this is just the translation, or they have come up with something both Genshin and BA players don't really grasp.
