Would a multiplayer romcom anime ggame actually work?

>4 girl archetypes duke it out over a love letter.
>playable tsundere, yandere, kuudere and deredere, each with their own abilities.
>have to find the love letter to give it to senpai to get a potentional love confession and win the game..
>funny narrator that breaks the 4th wall over what the players do ingame
>set in japan with cliche tropes from anime and manga, even in the ui design and the way they speak

What does /v/ think? would you play a gamel like this??

>>
>>744117929
I think one of the players should be senpai.
>>
A game where you write a love letter and then compete over who has to read it to senpai. (nobody wants to read the love letter)

>What does /v/ think? would you play a gamel like this??
No because the senpai is going to be a really boring, shitty self insert with a bland personality isnt he.

The filename indicates its from

which is neither yuri nor traps. You are retarded and could have easily just googled it.

a playable senpai would be fun but i dont know how it could be done.

In cases like these you just keep throwing out ideas until one sticks. Senpai has a girl he likes. If she gives him the love letter then he wins.
What's with the love letter? What kind of gameplay does looking for a love letter and giving it to senpai turn into?
>>
>>744118126
reisen has rabbit ears tho
>>
>>744123998
the love letter increases in value as time goes by. players will be looking for traits throughout the game to appease the interest of senpai. the senpai will be looking for the girl with the best traits. the love letter increases the chance of a pivotal love confession to senpai, and pairing this up with max traits allows one to outscore another player who has equal traits but doesnt have a love letter.

Hmm. So it's not just the letter that determines who wins. Who wrote the love letter? You're both "looking for" the love letter and "looking for" traits but what does that actually entail? The love letter sounds to me like it was lost somewhere and has to be physically found, but traits sounds more like players somehow need to learn what senpai's preferences are from him directly or from word of mouth. Who is confessing love to who? Guys would be embarassed to play the game because it's gay as fuck to pretend to be a girl competing over a guy. I imagine the game would have a disproportionately high female audience, like Yandere Simulator. If the game were an absurdist comedy like cards against humanity then it could recover a male audience by being an elaborate no homo joke instead of just being a homo simulator.
>>
>>744125945
clientside customization could go a long way with that, or perhaps just new characters for people to pick from. male dere types and female senpais would be available. maybe the game premise could be changed to girls fighting eachother to see who can become the most popular girl, but then that would lose out on the romcom side of things.
>>
>>744117929
why senpai? what happens to good old classmate who sits next to you in class

There's a reason 90% of anime MC's are 2nd grade in high school, cus they can date both senpais and kouhais and satisfy everyone

senpai is the love of your life, comrade.

I don't actually think anything needs to be done because if it's fun then people won't care. Moreso it's just a joke that could be leant in to.
Character options would be good simply for replayability.
A popularity contest doesn't have the same kind of memetic potential as game about a romcom about a senpai.
Even if the game markets itself around the protagonist being the senpai, if anything because of that, it would be good to have heroine(s) that are the senpai.

>learn senpai's favorite food and feed it to him before anyone else does
>compete over who gives senpai the best valentine's day chocolate
>progress through obligatory romcom events like feeding eachother with chopsticks, indirect kiss, the generic shopping date, etc. the fastest
The fact that the players are actively going out of their way to win makes the whole thing very yandere-ish regardless of whether a player is supposed to be some other kind of dere depending on the kind of thing that the player does to try to win. Like that story of a girl finding the guy she like's mom on facebook or something and then attending the same sewing class as the mom, and then offhandedly mentioning being single to get the mom to introduce the girl to the boy. You could learn hard into the yandere aspect if you wanted. And there's a market for that because teenage girls love self-inserting as yandere for some reason. Gasai Yuno, Jynx from LoL (primary from Arcane), 02 from Darling in the Franxx, the slut from Me!Me!Me!, MiSide, Monika (DDLC)

Senpai just moved back, the love letter is from before he left (he wrote it, each of the girls thinks it was to them). He fell in love with the girl he knew back then, but doesnt remember who it is. He has to match what the letter says to the girls traits.
He can unlock memory moments to identify additional traits by completing events with the girls, which are semi randomized amogus style tasks or mario party minigames. The girls have their own tasks, including the ability to sabotage specific moments to screw up the memory recovery or giving it a false twist.
The girl who gets the confession wins, senpai wins if he gets the right girl.
>>
>>744129757
yeah, the girl archetypes could offer different gameplay choices for the player, and to mix it up abit, the characters could be cycled through maybe once or twice as the match progresses to keep things fair, as one archetype might be more powerful or weaker than the other.

>>744132718
i'm writing this down because that sounds pretty great. it allows senpai to be controllable while still keeping the romcom aspect and girl archetypes intact.
>>
>>744132718
Ohhh like Nisekoi.
>senpai has to do something to learn a trait of a girl instead of knowing the traits up front
>after senpai learns a trait about a girl it's locked in
>a girl can change her trait before senpai learns about it, eg lying about favorite food
>lying meaningfully requires knowing what senpai thinks is the correct trait by eavesdropping or other means
>senpai can try to keep his knowledge secret
>senpai can leave fake hints
But this is missing the romantic aspect. A story like Nisekoi isn't just about Raku figuring out which girl he liked before. It's about which girl he falls in love with now. The girl of fate is just a bonus. If the gameplay is only about convincing senpai that you're the one he liked, eh.
>>
>>744117929
No one wants to play as the girl.
>>
>>744134807
I suppose you could have senpai choose both a winner and who he thought the girl was, but im afraid that would dilute the game aspect a bit too much.
>give letter to the girl who you think it was written for
>confess to girl you choose
unless the confession is chosen by points, instead of the senpai player having control, which would regamify the outcome. Points for successful moments and dates?
>>
>>744135201
I kinda think romance should cloud senpai's judgement somehow. Potentially the "including the ability to sabotage specific moments to screw up the memory recovery or giving it a false twist."
It would be nice to have "endings" based on things like which girl senpai gets with, who confessed, and whether the girl was the one from the past.
The deduction game creates a good tension at the end of the game where senpai chooses a girl, on incomplete information, which I like. If senpai doesn't get to choose then the tension moment is gone.
>>
>>744135201
I'm too tired haha. There's definitely an option between gameified system like >>744124420 and a deduction game. The deduction game seems natural to me for the "senpai tries to figure out which girl he liked in the past" part of the game. But then the 'traits' from the linked post were about senpai's preferences which are separate from the traits of the girl from the past when I think about it.
>>
>>744136503
I agree that I prefer the deduction game, I was trying to unify the concepts but it doesnt work as well as a more robust deduction game.

"It's been years since I've been here. Alot has changed. The trail in the woods is now a parking lot. My favorite place is long gone. Even the girls have changed."
>Senpai is holding a love letter that he wrote for the girl he liked. The Senpai player can read it but to -dere players, it's a jumbled, blurry mess.
NARRATOR: Times... have changed! *thunder cracks, hits a clock and it falls off the wall dramatically*
"I can't believe it!" "He's back? Who?" "Senpai is back!" "Ooooohhh Senpai.... remember me?"
>A four panel scene introducing different girls that the players have chosen. Each is doing their own unique thing like a deredere running down a hallway with a bright smile, a yandere sliding her finger against a knife.
NARRATOR: Who will win the battle of the times!!!
>Players spawn as either one of the girls, or the senpai. Camera pans out from behind their head to above them. UI comes into focus.
NARRATOR: Ladies... and gentleman. Let the game begin!

an intro mockup with the narrator included. does it sound good?
