Is 4k a meme? Basically only a 5090 housefire can run modern games at playable frame rates without AI goyscaling
>>7441373711440 is all you need
>>744137371No. In a better world it would be the standard.
turn down graphics settings then if your pc cannot run somethinig you fucking idiot
how insane is it that all this ai slop today is literally because nvidia tried to make 4k not run like dogshit
>halo 1>modern gameLmao
>>744137371Modern "games" are, 4k is not
4k is amazingit is your slop games that are the problem
Soon my 3060TI won't even appear on those charts
>>744137674dw frennotice how all the games they benchmark are dogshit anyway
>>744137371The older you get the more you realize that all graphics are a meme because your eyesight goes to shit
>>744137771>it's the games at fault. Not my PC which was built in the late 90's
It's a meme because nobody can do 4k with current hardware for current games.Consoles use fake 4k. For pc you have to use the fake dlss. 4k has only ever been viable with old games
>>744137371>Is 4k a meme?yes
>>744137371not at all and it's the reason everything is 100+ gigs
>>744137856fake 4k looks better than real 1440p
>>744137371I dunno bro, I'm still on 1080.I keep window shopping for a decent 1440 monitor for under 400 maplebucks but there isn't much. Not that my 3060ti will make good use of it anyway
>>744137371UE5 was a mistake.
>>744137996with dlss a 3060TI should move ANYTHING at 1440p/60fps
Windows has poor automatic GPU scheduling. You can increase your FPS by 30% at 4k by manually scheduling it. Microsoft actually gives you the tools for this.
>>744138106>60fpsYeah but I want 120fps
>>744137852>it's the games at fault. Not my PC which was built in the late 90's
>>7441373714k is mostly a meme. I would never ever leave it as my only gaming screen because as you said. Only the best card on the market lets you play every game at 4k and an acceptable framerate without upscaling (and even then, sometimes not). But on the flip side having a 4k display handy is nice because it's actually a lot easier to achieve 4k in a lot of older games that I expected. I started experimenting with how far my setup can go in emulators and PS2/GameCube I can run these games full speed at 5k internal resolution. I have a 3070ti, 32gb ddr5 ram, and a 7700x, good, but there's anons that have a ton better setups than me. My PC is also capable of handling an odd smattering of modern games like Demon Tides at 4k.But yeah, I have 2k ultrawide and I'd prefer that every day of the year if I had to choose between one.
>Don't play AAA garbage>Suddenly 4K makes more senseNaruhodo.
>>744137371Modern gaming, slop engine 5 and ray tracing, TAA and upscaling are a fucking meme. Halo 2 Anniversary still looks better than this shit and can run at 4K on mid range hardware.
>>744137852>It's totally acceptable for a game to look like ass, and run like ass.I am not going back to N64 grahpics on a 5090 just because they wanna hire Rajiesh Panjush to code the game.
>>744139935>you're not going back to N64 graphics on a 5090 because you don't have a 5090>780x438
>>744139995I actually have a 9070 xt, but my 10 fps on the Oblivion Remaster would have only shot up to a blazing 18 fps on a 5090 so there really isn't much point of spending four times as much. The badly optimized games just run like shit on all available hardware. You're getting frame drops to 16 fps on VTM:B2 on a 5090, so why would anyone bother getting the latest, and greatest? I was running on a 980TI until a year ago.
>>744140293That pic being a triple A game is insane.
1440p at 90-120fps or more is ideal
>>744137504they literally came up with fps decimating raytracing
I'm tempted to upgrade to 1440pt. 4080+7800X3D @ 1080p
>>744137917t. The stinkyest man kalkata Fov on consoles is sub 60. Pc is rendering over double the area at the same resolution.
Do you really need base 60 fps before you can use frame gen?
Worse. Intentional sabotage of graphics to sell screens.
>>744137371Um yeah you're gonna need a 5090 for next gen gaming so...better get on that
>>744137371you basically don't touch 4k without upscaling, neither do consolesthough upscaling at 4k is phenomenally better than 1440p and 1080p since it has a higher base resolution to scale fromeven DLSS performance looks great at 4k
>>744137371>tech experts : you need a 65 inches TV screen or higher to notice the difference between 1080p and 4k is the same case as 720 and 1080 in which you can only notice the difference after the 35 inches but any TV ranging from 20 to 35 inches you won't notice the difference at all.It was always a meme.
6900xt + 5900x, perfectly cromulent @ 1440p. I'll never upgrade and risk losing my computer's feng shui. All benchmarks and new generations are like a passing river to me.
>>744141551It's Starfield. Bethesda.Expecting their NPCs to look good is a mistake in the first pace.I still don't understand what people expected Starfield to look like. Every Bethesda game ever made looks at least half a generation behind. All to make room for "lol 2000 cheese wheels"
>>744142137dlss performance at 4k looks far better than 1440p dlaa. runs at about the same framerate too just higher vram consumption.
>>744137996How strict is your budget? I got a hyperx omen 27q on sale for about $450 a few weeks ago. Apparently hp monitors are now being sold as HyperX.
>>744137371No, it should be the standard by now, but because anyone that can code has long since left the industry, we're left with games that require absurd amounts of processing power to render even basic shit.
nice /g/ thread
>>744137371stinking brown jeet hands wrote this. DLSS and framegen lliterally looks better on 4k while also runing at 400W instead of 600W and 200 FPS.Only AMD goycattle care about rasterization per dollar like the good little redditor trash they aret. 5090 owner

many people have been playing in 4k for years without issuesthere are relatively few games that won't run in 4k on a 5090 such as certain UE5slop, Dragon's Dogma 2, Monster Hunter Wilds and shit like thatbasically unoptimized games do exist but also you are coping with poverty
>>744137371>Is 4k a meme? Always has been. Trying to chase that resolution just sets you up for paying significantly more not only up front, but forces you to upgrade more frequently at higher costs every time in a race to secure units produced in small quantities. Unless you're sitting right up against a 32" monitor you're not going to be able to tell the difference anyways. 1440p is even questionable in value to benefit, though I think that resolution bump is valuable outside of video games so I put up with it.
I’ve been gaming in 4K since getting my 2080 Ti, and I wish someone had warned me that it would look bad and my games wouldn’t run well.

>>744137371just stop being poor
>>744146840I would still say that. Pixel density and viewing distance are what matter, which is why I qualified that statement with a screen size where you might actually notice it.
>>744148264it's still very noticeable on 27"
>>744137371Yes. 4k is a meme when it comes to gaming. For all intents and purposes, you really don't need nor will notice the extra pixel density that 4k gives you, and the performance hit from it could be better spent elsewhere. The only real usecase for 4k monitors is on workstations where you need a large amount of screen space. Same with ultrawides.
literally "the human eye can't see past 30fps" style cope
>>744149054but you will, you just need to sit closer to itfor a 27 inch screen that's 50cm away, for a 32 inch screen that's 60cm away, for a 40 inch screen that's 75cm awaythe issue is that it feels too big for many people so they sit far enough that they don't see the benefit anymore
>>744137494in a better world motion clarity and latencies would have taken higher priority than frivolously scaling pixel counts.
>>744148682I can only assume that you either have you monitor really close to your face or you have exceptional eyesight. I'm running a 27" 1440p monitor 30 inches back from the front of the desk. I 'member when 1080p (well, 1920x1200) was a meme resolution nobody should ever need or want as it runs like shit and you can't tell the difference next to 1680x1050 anyway.
>>744150029So it isn't now?
>>744149330For some reasons anons get triggered when it is pointed out they are sitting too far away from their screen.

>>744137371Because most modern games are poo coded. You could probably go back as far as the 4060 and get 4k/60fps with engine tweeks on most games, but that is sadly beyond normie gamers and definitely beyond modern developers.
>>744150142We had mainstream 1600x1200 CRTs in early 2000s.Going from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 is just 17% more pixels. I wish 16:10 displays won, not 16:9.1080p to 2160p is 4 times as many pixels.Sure diminishing returns come into play at some point but 1080p is the real meme at this point.
>>7441508214 times more than anyone who isn't an eagle can see.

I will never get the hate against frame Gen and dlss. I run the game on perf rendering from 1080p then frame Gen it to 220 fps and it all looks amazing and smooth with no artifacts. Im convinced the only people complaining about this shit are running 2xxx, 3xxx, or amd gpus.
>>744154437how about the fact that you're giving up real performance for fancy fucking motion blur?the point of high framerates is that it makes your mouse movement feel goodthis doesn't
>>744154250Which is why 1080p is enough unless you have a 80" screen.
I inject frame gen into a game from 1998 and it is visually smoother.

Hot take, but I think that DLSS upscaling has made 4K the easy default option if it doesn’t add too much extra cost. You can run any older games (relative to your GPU) in native 4K, and for newer games, while DLSS isn’t as good as native, even DLSS Performance in 4K skullfucks 1080p and is basically as good as native 1440p if not even a bit better.Yeah, it sucks that games are developed around the assumption that you are expected to use some sort of upscaling solution, but when 4K screen with DLSS looks better than lower res natively, I prefer to go with what looks best.
>>744150142Fucking SLI
>>744155930needs to come backhopefully amd figures out how to glue multiple shader dies together, by all means it should be easier and more stable than having to cross an entire PCB like with sli and crossfire
>>744150142The thing with resolutions is that it’s pointlessly expensive to be at the bleeding edge of things (especially 4K was insanely expensive for years before it became even remotely sensible through upscaling tech), but yeah, it’s also fun to see how poorfags try to pretend that there’s no difference in going up. The same song and dance has happened with every resolution jump ever.
>>744156089SLI is never coming back unless you REALLY hate framepacing.

That really impressed me because a 32-inch 4K screen has a higher resolution than any printed material, so it’s genuinely a level of image quality you just don't usually see in graphic materials, except on a small smartphone screen.

I kind of wish 8k was still being developed as it is fantastic for vidya due to so many other resolutions scaling into it and for older titles where lmao 32 million pixels is nothing for a modern gpu you get an absolutely razor sharp image.
