If you meant while playing the enemy pal level 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc matters as you reach the next threshold. Very noticeable if you try to catch a level say lv50 pal and a lv51 pal at the same time. The sphere are set in likewise tiers made for their own level range. Beside that a sleeping pal (only for the first sphere no matter how long the waking animation may be), head shot bonus, back shot bonus, freeze/burn/stun and the amount of health they have are the only other thing that factor the capture rate.

I'm betting there isn't a single person who claims to like the game that is playing blind. I followed the quests, I followed the survival guide, I followed the base upgrades, and I still feel completely lost when it comes to progression and finding the right materials at the right time almost all the time. Materials seem extremely scarce, what pals to condense and upgrade seems like a chore especially in the early/midgame where most just seem like absolute shitters not worth the resources you put into them. I feel like I've been progression locked by one thing or another for the last 5 fucking hours and I have to go around and read thousands of fucking items and table descriptions and other shit just to find the next step to make my life less of a pain in the ass. I could simply watch a single youtube guide that says "Hey dumbass, do this exact step" but I'm not some faggot that does that when it comes to games. Anyone who says this game is good at explaining itself is just plain wrong. They give you the bare minimum to work with and most of the actual good tips are basically hidden knowledge, janky code that works differently from how it's worded in game, or literal exploits.

Like expeditions, it tells you what you may find on them, but not how much, not how likely the items are to find, not how important expeditions is as a mechanic (arguably one of if not the most important build in the entire game), etc. Everything is like this. Like I said the game gives you the bare minimum amount of information and it's all trial and error to figure out what works and what's a complete waste of time. Also the tech tree makes it seem like you can spend points at any time to buy decorative base pieces, but then you get to higher levels where it takes forever to level up and you've already found most of the eagle statues in your area and now you're locked behind needing more tech points just to buy the things you actually need. There is no way to know this when just starting out. A lot of players waste tech points on weapons/armor only to find a purple/legendary schematic 20 minutes later. Like why even bother fishing when you can just use Jolthog to do it for you? But I only know that because I saw a player do it in a webm, nowhere does it say in game you can throw a jolthog into water and make every fish in the area come out of hiding. The game is just full of little things like that where you feel lost, trialing every single thing until you find what works and it feels like everything up to that point was just a waste of time and resources. 90% of the things you can do in this game take a long ass amount of time/resources, but provide no substantial benefit or reward. Only 10% of the things are actually beneficial to you or needed to progress. If the game emphasized these certain elements or had subquests tied to them then maybe it wouldn't feel so retarded.
