Everyone always says twin peaks inspired so many video games, but nobody can ever name them. They say Link's Awakening and Silent hill 2, that's it. Deadly premonition doesn't even count since it's basically a fanfiction version
Life is Strange. You're welcome.
Alan Wake and Mizzurna Fallsthe Japs in particular are obsessed with Twin Peaks. There's probably a good 100+ games made there

It's easier to think about 'Lynchian' games, as a whole, than specifically games that try to be Twin Peaks.

It’s an awesome franchise. S1 is lean plotkino. S2 is comfy and batshit. FWWM is dark and kino. S3 is even darker and even more kino. There’s one or two weak subplots in S2 but overall it’s such a fun ride, very tonally unique.
Will there be a S4The s3 ending makes no sense, not to start to discuss spoilers we dont need to do that here
>>744221260David Lynch is dead. The franchise doesn’t need more.
>>744221396Well shit
>>744221564nigga it's been a year and a half lol where have you been
>>744221649Not paying attention
>>744221260Without spoilers, Lynch’s biggest regret was what he was forced to do in Season 2, and the ending of S3 undoes that. Had Lynch announced a S4 I would have been really excited, but what we got is simultaneously his grand finale of TP and his body of work, I’m perfectly satisfied.
>>744218718There was this point and click games starring a woman that was twin peaks like. It even had the twins. Forgot the name
>>744221260Even if Lynch was alive, S4 wouldn't happen. S3 wasn't even supposed to happen. I think he got so fucking annoyed he put it out. Half of the return has some fucking spite towards portions of the fanbase.
>>744221887>Lynch’s biggest regret was what he was forced to do in Season 2you mean reveal the killer so early? how does the S3 ending undo that? it's been a long while since I watched this, I kinda remember at the end of S3 cooper comes back but then he travels to some other universe or back in time or some shit and he finds laura palmer but then she goes mental?
>>744219238Holy TRVKE
>>744221260The Return was literally the culmination of television as an artform, it's what you get when an auteur gets as close to a blank check as a TV studio can possibly provide. Even if Lynch came back from the dead, he couldn't have topped it, simply because whatever offer he would've gotten for S4 would've been less money because "season 3 didn't sell as well as S1 and 2!".

>>744222560TP*
>>744222163Lynch believes that a mystery is more than just its answer, the wondering is what makes it special. Twin Peaks has a lot of good reveals, even in S3, but the ending of S3 re-establishes a state of speculation, of mystery.

bros, i watched mulholland drive in 2013 and hated it, but watching it now it was surprisingly enjoyable if you don't think too much and see it as a dream, is twin peaks the same? i remember hating it too, everyone was overacting
>>744221260judy kills dumbledore
How would you actually make a Twin Peaks game? What genre would it be? The sims set in a cozy little mountain town? Story driven detective game? Straight up walking simulator movie game? Lovecraftian trippy action RPG where you fight black lodge monsters and shiet?
>>744220450not sure but i think you may be talking about Double Penetration
>>744223084The acting is very dreamlike and theatrical, partially because Lynch loves that shit and partially because it is a commentary and continuation of tv at the time.Personally I think TP is his most accessible work. If you changed your mind about MD, you should give it another shot. The back half of the franchise (Fire Walk With Me/The Return) is closer to MD.

>>744224850It’s pretty unique. Very comfy mystery show with a dreamlike tone. Fixation on Americana, the light and the dark. I agree that the pilot is a good tone setter, though the franchise does end up evolving. The weak point is a few eps in S2, but the finale of the OS is great and everything afterwards is too.
>>744225148what makes it so good
>>744218718Is twin peaks even that good? The way the fandom is obsessed with it and basically centers their life around it and grossly mischaracterizes the main cast reminds me so much of Breaking Bad fans. And breaking bad is mid at the end of the day

I watched about half of TP season 1 when I had to interrupt it to go on vacation (rest of friend group continued so I missed it all). During the vacation I saw Mulholland Drive and while interesting, soured me on Lynch actually delivering satisfying stories. Didn't go back and finish TP because of that, I am forced to assume it will just break down logically at some point and require post-analysis to retroactively enjoy.

>>744250158There never will be again. Watching it every Sunday as it premiered was pure bliss.
>>744218874Does Japan really like Twin Peaks? The original run was over in a flash and it only gained popularity years later I'm surprised it was syndicated over there.
...What year is this?
>>744250709They fucking adore Twin Peaks and Agent Cooper, just look up the coffee commercials or the ads where he makes bento boxes
>>744250437>Playing Directors CutLMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>7442507761997
>>744226524they're both cute but holy fuck that FWWM scene where she has her tiny tits out was incredibly hot
>>744250776Depends.
>>744234108What if something very strange happened? What if the creator was able to live there, for a moment in time, possibly three days. Then was dragged back?
>>744232997Coal burner whore. Lynch might as well habe kissed a black dick.
YOU STOLE THE CORN
>>744234827>David lynch would sometimes point at the replay and go, "Aha! So that's what a I meant there!"
>>744228534that one scene mmm
>>744228534Nothing like it will ever happen again. Why even bother
>>744233576This shit mindbroke me because I walked into it completely blind and my neighbors probably were like "what the fuck is up with this asshole?"
>>744221260No, it's over and move on.
>>744238618this bitch was hot as fuck in Sopranos
>>744236565The coffee and pie are meant to represent the good in life; they are simple earthly pleasures. It's only natural that people reference them a lot, they are a huge part in what makes the show so comfortable to watch.
>>744219238>>744218994get off my board pleb
>>744222392Dougie Jones being a catatonic version of Cooper seems to specifically be to spite the "omg le epic pie and coffee wholesome chungus cooper" redditors. Plus they basically shat on the whole thing: no background music, no real conclusion, terrible pacing, etc. It's still a good watch, but "it's not a good Twin Peaks show" is what the BOTW apologists would say if they spoke about TP.
>>744233962God I love Lynch so much. Truly rip.
I love Twin Peaks but imo Lynch peaked with The Straight Story.
>>744222163We Live Inside a Dream basically chucks the whole thing out of the window.
>>744250809whats wrong with that version?
>>744236565>t. "Diane"Fuck you.
>>744250709Jojo part 4 was directly inspired by twin peaks.
>>744223114Phoenix-wright style.
>>744236565I bet you like TV dinners and cream corn.
>>744224532Inland Empire is retarded but good retarded.
>>744219037Good soundtrack
>>744224850Pacing is pretty terrible in E1 but it gets a lot better. You have to allow it to breathe, but yes, you'll love it.
>>744219037I think about Killer7 primarily. Aspects of Disco Elysium too but that's obvious
>>744226774Coincidentally, MacLachlan also requested less of an involvement in FWWM, that's why he has so few scenes and has redonkulous Bad Hair day.
>>744249941Yeah, I loved Dougie
>>744226658In my headcannon, Naido was her in some way.
>>744228534For the last time...
>>744251446A lot of people were speculating that for awhile (as it premiered), I think your headcannon is very justified.
>>744230251don't listen to people like this, anon. Do not fast forward. I understand why people dislike the James scenes, but it's worth your time.
>>744233759We Live Inside a DreamBut then... who's the dreamer?I interpret it as metacommentary on TV as a medium. Laura realizes she's inside of a TV show, a flat circle of time; every time somebody watches the show again, she continues to die, over, and over, and over. She's stuck in a never-ending cycle of suffering.
>>744233975That's a very reductionistic way of looking at it. My take away from it is that his stuff is the kind of stuff you should experience for yourself for the sake of experiencing it, not for the sake of making yourself seem more interesting than you really are, or to be a tryhard.

>>744250028It's good but it's not the GOAT. The Sopranos is that.

>>744238938Lmao she starting to look like Leland
>>744220007Watching tumblrina Cooperfags get assblasted in real time while this was being aired was amazing. Like you keep thinking Dougie is going to become unretarded but it just keeps going and going.

>>744218718>twin peaks thread on /v/ has more replies than my TP thread on /tv/
>>744253214funy
>>744253236With TP being adjacent to one of the most fucking fast-moving game discussions Deltarune, it's unsurprising. That, and it inspired so very many video games besides.
>>744253279there is like 2, maybe 3 people talking about vidya in this thread
Shiggy megami has a lot of twin peaks in. There's the obvious stuff in Persona but its in the mainline series too. Kaneko even confirmed he was a fan the other day.
>>744253321I'd talk about Deltarune if I wanted to delete the thread but I don't so I won't.Deadly premonition however seems like a fucking pain in the dick to emulate
>>744253329I dont care enough to hide my phone posting lmao
>>744238938season 3 was a humiliation ritual for her
>>744238938>>744253416I was wondering about that. What the fuck was with the midgetOr am I misremembering
Silent Hill 1's writer said he was a fan of lynch and he went on to do Siren 1 and 2 and Gravity Rush 1 and 2. I havent played slitterhead yet but everything I played had very clear Lynch influences. Even Gravity Rush Kat is a blonde psuedo lesbian with a psuedo clone like Mulholland Drive.Sufa51 recently redecorated his office to make it look like the red room. He's a hige and influence is probabaly in all his games too.Shigeru Miyamoto phoned up Mark Frost to get advice on how to make Links Awakening which we know is why it had shit like a mysterious town. But also ots clearly why owls were in that game. And its funny because the owl ended up in OoT too. I think Earthbound's creator mentioned it too.
>>744253434The midget had a spinal bone disease that made him a midget and it crushed his brain slowly and made him go schizo. And I mean this in real life not the show. He went schizo and threw david lynch under the bus with schizo ramblings so he didnt return.Audrey's actress was a fucking crazy cunt that was extremely hard for anyone to work with so Lynch had to put her in totally isolated storylines about how she hit the wall. The midget in her story was Lynch's self insert venting his frustration in her. (rip he died recently.) Audreys actor mentions in behind the scenes footage she would just yell at Lynch and laughed about it.
>>744253236Bless'd anon I will now visit your accursed board to drink deep and descend.
>>744253434Lynch is a hack, thats all, she's supposed to be dead after the bank explosion and yet we see her being just fine. She also had some kind of "agreement" with the dwarf but it was never even explained. Season 3 sucks ass
>>744251780I loved the mafia guys and candy in season 3 so much
>>744253563my thread died yesterday
>>744250776>tfw season 3 was 10 years ago next year

>>744253576>Lynch is a hack, thats all, she's supposed to be dead after the bank explosion and yet we see her being just fine. She was in a coma so long she got raped and had a baby. And it fucked her mind up so bad she has agoraphibia and was hallucinating shit.
>>744253695We can see the whole building explode, coma doesnt cut it
>>744253613I'm sorry man. Least you got us
>>744253734She was so hot it cancelled out the heat of the explosion.
>>744253774now that makes sense i guesscooper refused to bang her in her prime btw
>>744218718Pathologic kinda fits.>small town at fall>mc arrives from a big city>there's a murder that shook the town to its core>you investigate it>in the process you find out that everyone has secrets and ulterior motives>supernatural shit
>>744253534>And I mean this in real life not the show. He went schizo and threw david lynch under the bus with schizo ramblingsElaborate
>>744248413PS2 fan translation just got released yesterday btw
>>744243219Thats where a ton of stuff in Silent Hill 2 comes from.
Can anyone remind me of the origin or meaning of the dimensions that appears in s3e11? Around the power lines
>>744254158>Of course he did not rape his own underage daughter and then wrote a TV series about it. Of course she did not live all his life threatened by his father if he had. He never murdered his 'best friend'. [The guy who played Pete died in a bar fight] And he definitely never suggested I should kill myself ">Trump has redefined what it means to be president in the same way that Lynch redefined meaning that something makes sense” He would just seeth about Lynch on Facebook a lot
>>744254546ntadesu it's fitting, would be weird if it was HIMYM actor who went crazy but something Lynch related? feels almost mandatory
>>744254312Do you have a picture or something? I havent seen it since it aired. My vague memories are something like all the electricity motife are linked to the concept of fire. Spirits, which are more like our internal selves, travel through E LEK TRI CITY/fire. They all got here when the atom bomb was split in a huge event of FIRE. Also remember all the eay back when the colonel from Star Gate was alove he got abducted by aliens and got a radioactive symbol tattooed on his neck. And Eraserhead may have been post apocalyptic and shares visual similarities with Episode 8. Also the entire 'inner' world of the black lodges exists in the trees. You see transitions from the red room to nature a lot in season 3. And light poles holding electricity are dead trees. The log lady. Midget becoming an electric stick. Josie becoming a doorknob. Its like out animal selves are still out there in the woods /inside us is waiting to burst out. Cavemen started not being unga bunga cavemen when we made fire with wood and cooked meat.Source: it came to me in a dream
>>744237784Hi Fi Rush genuinely inspired me to rewatch Twin Peaks just from this scene
>>744254815Good buddy, the word I think we're looking for is 'Promethean'. I don't have a pic but I share the dream
>>744250709I was in Japan a couple years ago and they straight up had a whole designer clothing store decked out in a Twin Peaks collaboration. It was in Shibuya and then another one in Osaka. The clothes weren't that good though and they were stupidly expensive, but it was nice to see Twin Peaks in such an unexpected place.
>>744218718Earthworms was nice to click through, not much replayability but for the price it is asking it's worth it.
>>744218718Crow Country, but it's more themed around an amusement park than an actual town.
>>744255209I'd unironically buy that jacket and pants combo.
>>744254815I've heard this idea echoed by other people so you're definitely not far off the mark on that synopsis.
>>744255209In the twin peaks mania video someone posted above it mentions fake mock laura palmer funerals japanese twinpeakaboos would do and some guys are carrying a casket down the street. I would kill to have more footage of that shit
>>744254546>The guy who played Pete died in a bar fight>On December 29, 1996, Nance had lunch with friends Leo Bulgarini and Catherine Case, who asked him why he had a "crescent-shaped bruise" under his eye; he admitted that he had been involved in a fight outside a Winchell's Donuts store that morning.[17][18] He then went home, complaining of a headache.[17] He died the following morning, nine days after turning 53, at his apartment in South Pasadena, California.[17][18] Bulgarini found his body on the bathroom floor.[17][18] It was revealed that he had developed a subdural hematoma from the fight,[17][18] with blunt force trauma listed as his cause of deathShit man I didn't knowMental how we can die from seemingly nothing that's actually something very serious
>>744255971Pete was going to be the one in the green glove who fought Bob too

crazy that this thread was allowed to stay up
>>744257019It's a breath of fresh air compared to all the thinly veiled goonbait threads we have on a daily basis.
>>744238938She aged like milk unfortunately.
>>744257270thats by designif women stayed hot they would never take care of kids
>>744257270not as bad as laura and donna didthough in fairness they're all pushing 60
Man I wish I was there when S2 endedThat ending was pretty ballsy, were people mad? Or impressed at the idea?
>>744257384Sheryl Lee was looking alright for her age. Lynch just chose horrible clothes and makeup for her in the red room scenes.
>>744218994I think there is a burger place called Twin Peaks and it's a titty restaurant like Hooters, you might be thinking of that.
>>744257431it was pretty shocking and exciting, definitely left a mark on me. It was a cliffhanger with no conclusion yet I was never particularly pissed off about it.

>>744254007yeah
>>744257924You're thinking of Link's Awakening, anon. Also on the topic of video games, Twin Peaks nearly got an NES game, but it was canceled for somewhat unknown reasons.
>>744218718Megaten used to be heavily Lynchian.
>>744250947>stops casual sexJudy is based actually
so like, what was the deal with the ending? did lynch just say fuck it, its over?

>>744218994Same kek
>>744218718With Silent Hills, besides general atmosphere and horror elements, the cutscenes of character interacting in 2&3 are 100% lynchian and hilarious.
>>744228534what I love about Part 1 is how much it feels like the complete opposite of any kind of triumphant return, like it isn't self-mastubatory in the slightest, the returning characters don't get big close up moments on camera where they enter the frame and music swells up and you get it beaten into your skull that your favorite show and characters are back. It does the complete opposite, that first scene in Twin Peaks with Jacoby getting his shovel delivery is like such a mundane slice of life scene and that is the FIRST scene we get set in Twin Peaks after 25 years, the first scene in the show if you don't count the intro with the giant. It's really cool how season 3 earns every single instance where it does tug at your nostalgia, like Bobby seeing the portrait, Cooper saying "I AM THE FBI" and it's also really cool how we get a ton of fan service through Dougie but it doesn't feel hamfisted because it's not just trying to redo the same scenes from the past. Like Dougie loving the cherry pie, that is full on fan service but it's Dougie experiencing it so it doesn't really feel like the creators going "eh, isn't this great? member this from the old show?"
I JUST HAD TWO COOKIES AND A COKE
