Sonic was always sort of a role model character in Japan, but this also means that he generally needs someone to be a role model for. This is why most games give him someone to bounce off of, someone who, after being exposed to Sonic, undergoes a change to their character. Sonic Battle, Sonic Rush, Sonic '06, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic Unleashed and even Sonic Frontiers operate off this principle. (Boom and X had their own thing) At least one of the stories told on any given month had a game character at the center, so if you didn't care about anything else, you had something to go off of. IDW only has one story per issue, and no second comic outside of specials. If any story there doesn't hard center around a game character, it is much more noticeable.Its something I just noticed while actually putting time in reading IDW.
