I'm playing Rondo Duo through Lutris with the latest CachyOS proton and the game works but I'm getting these square artifacts on some of the spritesWhat is causing this? I never saw these artifacts playing on my Steam Deck using GE proton through Steam and I just copied that local install over to my new PC so it shouldn't be some Linux quirk

Pretty sure its an alpha channel problem caused by dvxk/vulkan. Turn those off in the games settings, check again. If not then its probably a mesa problem since anything arch based just updates willy nilly constantly with 0 quality control shit inevitably gets silly. Easily fixed by some force mesa command but I aint typing allat for some arch tard

There were very very few games that needed fixing "from scratch" and needed a lot more trials and failures before getting a successful fix -- examples being Darksiders Warmastered Edition and Nukitashi 2.
