>everyone laughed at me when I said that blue science is my first wall
>they say if you are any good at this game you should get past the point of blue science 30 minutes after starting the game
>tfw I've been playing for 10 hours and still at blue science
And I've been playing efficiently. There is no way people can do this in 30 minutes.
>>
Anyone saying that is retarded. If you can automate blue science in less than 10 hours you're an experienced player. Not even speedrunners abusing glitches can get past that in less than 30 minutes.

You know you don't have to play retard just to talk about Factorio right?
>>

The point of the game is to build and play at your own pace in the style you enjoy, don't worry about what other people are doing, the game is more fun that way
>>
it ain't much, but its honest and gets the job done
>>
>>744239320
Blue science is usually the second wall
The first is usually green science or dealing with biters

That said, blue science in 30 minutes is for speedfags and even then it's a lie and more like an hour at least
That said, that's just 'getting' chemical science and is probably the most unoptimized shit you'll do like ignoring most shit

wall 3 is going to be how fucking bad space age is
>>
>>744239320
Ngl king a lot of people overclock the games tick cycle to get animations to match their high hz monitor, like i play it at 2.4x speed because I've got a 144 hz monitor. Combat is FUN.

Play at your own pace, there's no hurry. Enjoy the experience, engineer!
>>
I hate the aliens in this game.
>>
i don't get the obsession with walls
is it so hard to play how you want? i play this with friends and its pretty fun sitting down and brainstorming how to progress

OP here. I can't really "play at my own pace" because of biters. The game spawned me in a desert and I thought that was normal but apparently it's not. Now it's an arms race. I killed nests with the car until they evolved, now they have medium worms that can just ignore my guns. Then I rushed for a flamethrower because everyone said it was OP but it's fucking not, the range is so small that it is unusable.

I've been wasting a lot of time with these damn biters and idk what technology to rush next.
>>
I got to Vulcanus and got bored. Ive started over like 4 times the past month.
>>
>>744241473
Why? Just kill everything on your pollution radius so they don't nag you
>>
>>744242363
they're evolving too fast because you're either spreading pollution too quick or you're dealing with nests that don't have to be dealt with.
>>
So I'm new to this and I started with Space Age mode apparently. Just unlocked blue science. Is there any way I can opt out of that and stick to the base game?

>he thinks people on /v/ are serious
Most /v/aggots aren't serious, they're aliens that have visited Earth and are future humans suffering from the effects of a bad dilation hyperjump due to a badly assembled warp drive bought in Space Mexico, and that they vanish to their own temporal line in either a few minutes to days, depending on how far away they came from. Longer dilations aren't possible because timespace's a troon at long enough distances, opening a never ending gape of hyperspace that sends its travelers into an eternal cycle of time dilation.
>>
>>744242567
yeah, by not buying that crappy DLC
>>
>>744242363
Personal flamethrower used to be OP in the beta. Flame turrets are still pretty sick vs groups but they need support from other turrets since they have a minimum range.
Also get piercing ammo if you don't already have it.

>>744242567
Just untick it in the mod list.

>dealing with nests that don't have to be dealt with.
I think you misunderstand how far pollution spreads in the desert. A vanilla desert start is arguably harder than a forest deathworld start because of how far your cloud spreads. If there's no trees then his cloud is going to be fuckhuge even if he only has a couple stacks of furnaces and is up to blue science or whatever.
He has to drive way the fuck out into bumfuck nowhere to kill biters that are attacking him or expansion parties that have snuck back in and can't be picked up by radar. Until you get oil the pure desert start is constant attrition from start to finish and only ends when you have automated repairs and flamers that eliminate the dozens of waves.
>>
>>744246392
just put down some turrets
>>
>>744242363
If you are having troubles with worms before/after getting a tank i recommend poison capsules they are a bit more expensive that regular grenades but you dont need that many just drive by trowing them and they will be fucking dead fast up to behemoth worms. What everyone says about flamethrowers applies to the turrets they are a really strong defence
>>
Chemical science is a sticking point for lots of people. Just work through it one product at a time. There's no rush. Don't sweat it when I say I can knock out chemical science pretty quick, I have 1.2k hours in the game so it all goes up pretty quick and easy for me. I've also done it many times so I just know what to expect.
Build your factory. Have fun. Just don't get hung up on products too much. You just build your factory blocks one structure at a time and you'll get there. Fifty hours to launch the rocket in vanilla is usually the time it takes to launch the first rocket but I've seen people saying it took them 70ish hours. Just chip away at it. It's not a race.

The moment I heard about the quality garbage I knew I would be skipping that dlc

Another item people skip is Defender capsules despite them being really damn good at saving your ass or taking out nests with you. They give you that extra firepower before you get a tank.

>Newbie spawning in the desert
Hah, it's a trial by fire for you, then. You got military science up and running? Red, green, and black science gets you flamethrower turrets. Get an assembler building walls and pipes, and jank together a couple flamethrower turret assemblers. Once you got those then biters become a solved problem. Flamethrower turrets can run on crude and don't require power. Just throw down a wall, daisy chain a few flamethrowers behind it, and you don't need to worry about biters until you need to expand and get more outposts. By then you should have the tank and that makes clearing nests for expansions a breeze.
>>
I think Gleba is the wall for me, I just don't get it. No I won't use external guides/blueprints, if I can't figured it out in-game is not worth it
>>
>>744246930
If you did the planets in the usual order, Vulcanus, Fulgora, and Gleba then you should have learned one very important lesson that Vulcanus and Fulgora were gearing you up for.
Throw shit away. Make goofy little sushi belts to whip stuff around, put an inserter or splitter in there to yank off spoiling goods, and and send them to the furnace. Gleba gives you resources out of nothing but you have to keep a few plates spinning. Just shove everything that is about to spoil onto a belt destined for the furnaces. You'll be wasting a lot of stuff. Thst is perfectly fine. It's how you keep the plates spinning.
>>
>>744247103
I did it in the order in which they appeared in the research windows, so first Fulgora, then Gleba and Vulcano last.
>>
>>744247227
Its pretty easy if you just keep in mind everything rots.
Turn your shit into bioflux
Use bioflux to make 12 zillion nutrients wherever you need them
If you want to make it braindead just build in big rows and have everything end with a splitter that filters spoilage out to be burned.
If all of that is too complicated you can just use bots and ignore the routing challenges entirely.
>>
>>744247227
Weird, but you can make it work. That's the long and short of it. If it spoils it goes on a sushi belt and you want to filter out stuff that's about to spoil.
Although Tesla towers from Fulgora will be helpful.
>>
>>744246930
Gleba is just about keeping lines moving. Just use splitter input/output weighting options along with loops to ensure new stuff goes into the production line while old stuff gets torched if the line is saturated. The only actually hard part is iron/copper setup as you will need to set up a way to limit production without ever actually stopping it if you overproduce.
>>
Sale when?
>>
>>744239458

Lol wut. Blue science should take a halfway decent player only like two hours, less if you don't count actually setting up the oil and getting it to your base.
>>
>>744246930

Gleba is just poorly designed. It's not necessarily the spoilage aspect. It's that, combined with dealing with the overpowered and super annoying enemies, shitty power generation, lack of stone, base constantly getting fucked and having to boot it up again, all while trying to even figure out wtf the dozens of new items are and how it all works. Oh and on top of it all, your science packs spoil. Terrible garbage planet. They truly fucked up.

>>744239320
>If you can automate blue science in less than 10 hours you're an experienced player
Bruv.....
If you're experienced, you're starting to peck at blue science at maybe hour 3-4, dependent on settings and luck with initial resource distribution.
>>
>>744239320
>everyone told me that players who have played this game before and have become good at it can do things fast
>so why can't I, a new player, also do things fast
Because you're not good at the game yet.
>>
>>744241473
Dog YOU are the alien. The biters fucking live there
