What's a good game I can play to take the load off, maybe something comfy, something that evokes a feeling of a life or age with any positivity and optimism whatsoever? Maybe something to emulate? Existence is grueling and I don't know what joy is anymore, I live for nothing but my impending death.

Ah just delete my fucking thread.

I have no idea what youre asking for but the last game that left a genuine impression on me and made me like games again was Outer Wilds

What console generation are you nostalgic for OP?

I've been playing through a bunch of Ocarina of Time randomizers recently and they make me happier.

You came to the right place! You should buy the hit classic Skyrim for all your positive and optimistic needs. Preferably two copies, one for a friend - sharing is caring, after all!

Jokes aside, maybe something you used to play regularly at one point? Preferably something open-ended where you made the story or goals up as you went along. Maybe you'll get to do it again.

Doesn't have to be a game, maybe something else in your backlog, or some idea or another you wrote down but never got back to. Or a really funny video that may be hard to search for.

God bless, Anon.

If this is spoonfeeding than all recommendations are spoonfeading, and I've been "lurking" for over 8 years.

Definitely 5th gen, and a bit of 6th gen. Older and later are fine but when I've gotten joy out of a game, it tended to be 5th gen.

would you mind a bit more detail about what you used to enjoy? Or what kind of vibe or genre you'd like to see?

If you can't summon the effort for that can I humbly suggest the GBA fire emblem games?

There is just enough strategy to feel like you're genuinely using an army strength amount of outnumbered but noble warriors on a quest for good

and just enough rpg that they will persistently grow in strength so if you like your brawny axe guy or loyal but constantly ass chapped strict knight you can make it work by just giving them a bit more priority

the main plot of all the GBA ones is classic heroic mythology, save the kingdom, slay the dragon etc.

Its incredibly easy and quick to emulate, and the game has been out for so long that people have released many quality rom hacks, and the grinding is either in the game or in Sacred Stones case, incredibly unnecessary and pretty much just for making unviable units that you think are cool viable

godspeed depressed anon

emulate Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns

Mario? I don’t know. You sound existential as fuck, when I’m in that state I normally just replay Max Payne

Animal Crossing for the GC does it for me

Well, a couple of games that gave me joy were Assassin's Creed 2, and Mortal Kombat Deception's conquest mode, but that's partly because I played them at a better time in life. I unfortunately can't be very specific about what games do it for me, but definitely relatively bright colors. Also something I can also immerse myself in. Fire Emblem definitely piques my interest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMxQOVaQrKU

I could honestly do for that. I never finished that game and I loved the atmosphere.

Sadly, the game that did that for me really took a blow from it's own devs recently lol. Also, thanks for your replies, and others who've given recommendations so far.

Looks comfy.

Stardew is a fun comfy game to keep the bad thoughts away.
Its also worth letting you know that Jesus Christ loves you and died for your sins, but. I hope things get better for you
>>
>>744240579
Play cozy foid games like stardew valley perhaps rimworld with custom settings

I hope it becomes better for you but remember everything starts and ends in our own minds whatever that is plaguing you in the end you will have to deal with it

Stardew. Or modded pokemon gen 3 rom hacks, or watch "slice of life" content. Sometimes its cringe, sometimes its so life affirming it sparks dreams you've forgotten due to time.

Kirby is probably the right game for that. I would recommend Pikmin, but if death is something that's bothering you, I doubt you will see the joy that it brings.
>>
>>744248258
I can try them. Death doesn't bother me per se, I've just been in a rough spot, I need not go into it here.
>>
>>744249259
Kool if you want the best version of Pikmin 1 get Squared. It's a ROM hack of Pikmin 2 that converts it into Pikmin 1. I would not recommend Pikmin 2 right now. It can get quite mean at times, and I can tell you don't need that right now.
