Most people don't know this, but a bathroom is a room that contains a bathtub or shower. A restroom is a room that only contains toilets and sinks. A large majority of people use these incorrectly. When you're in a public area you would say "Where is the restroom? I need to use the restroom." You wouldn't say "Where is the bathroom? I need to use the bathroom." The only time you would say bathroom is if you were in a house, a hotel room, or really any facility/area that has showers/baths. It upsets my autism when I'm in public or with someone and they say "I have to use the bathroom" but I don't correct them because then I look like a pretentious snob.
