From UE3 all the way through UE5, the lighting and textures in the UE engine have always looked greasy.
It feels like a layer of clear cooking oil has been smeared on metal objects, and the way light reflects off them always looks incredibly greasy.
Why is that?

Deferred rendering lighting+TemporalAntiAliasing+upscaling+frame generation = sloptacular graphics.
That’ll be $1799.99 plus tax and tip for the privilege of rendering :)

I'm more concerned about the FUCKING HEXAGONS that 343 has decided needs to be smothered over absolutely everything since Halo 4.

UE3 was infamous for the plastic look. As for why, it's the default engine settings and now with upscaling bullshit and most of the games effect running at quarter resolution then you get this hazy dithered mess.
>>
The material was probably imported retarded or they amped up the roughness/specular to give the wet paint look.
