It'll take a while, but eventually those discs will become unreadable.

I always like when physical niggas encounter an expensive game and "just emulate it" (play it digitally). A deeply unserious people.

these game collections never have games I liked growing up, top of my head:
smugglers run, path of neo, sleeping dogs, hamtaro, monster max, transformers wfc, trials, second sight, timesplitters etc.

>path of neo
The mecha-Smith fight is hilarious.

In re-sealable plastic bags. Keeps the oxidation out and prevents shelf wear. I get this question every time and really should just make this text a part of the image. Why DON'T you keep your stuff in autism baggies?
>>
having your childhood collection is cool

but i don't understand why people find pride in pilfering other people's childhood presents and putting them on a wall as if they owned it just because they have possession of the plastic
you weren't there, you didn't play it, and you won't play it

so what's the point?
>>
>>744246381
rhetorical question by the way, needs not be answered

people collect vinyl figures too, and clearly the same kind of brain wiring applies to this
it's just not to be understood

>re-sealable
All of those PS2, Wii, Xbox, 360, PS3, PS4 and PS5, PSP and Switch games are quite blatantly still in their factory seals.
Which leads me back to my original question. What is the point of this?
>>
>>744243836
We're supposed to hate it because it makes PC gamers self conscious

Start learning how to repair 1990s circuit boards, grandpa.

One diode dies, one chip contact stops working, one connector pin gets scuffed and you're done with no way to replace it

I have never seen this in my 33 years of life. I have never seen a disc in shit condition like that

So the group of ex-cons who come in with a big sack and clear out the living spaces of the deceased will have lots of worthless junk to toss in the dumpster in 2060.

An estate sale maybe, if you actually own your home and die in it.

I've seen massive collections of the dead. A whole fucking room filled with Coca Cola signs and bottles from 1940 to 2000. Records, thousands of vinyl records, sold on craigslist for $300. A garage full of 1950s cars that don't run. A tow truck came to haul them to the junkyard.

Enjoy your collections but once you're dead, they're just someone else's nuisance.

No, they are not factory-sealed. Trust me. Notice the pointy top of each bagged game. (as opposed to it being flat because of a tri-fold) Furthermore, since I couldn't find baggies for the specific sizes of PSP and Switch game cases (as well as Genesis, N64, Sega CD, and the Saturn longboxes), I had to get some flexible cases from RetroProtection.
Believe me. I only own one factory-sealed game and it's not in this picture.

I guess in the sense the Cold War is over and the exact original meaning doesn't apply, but it's still very much used

Im middle aged now and after accepting my mortality as best I can I really dont care at all about "game preservation".

I didnt dig around the Intellivision library or whatever from before my time and Id expect the diddy ahh bluds or whatever they call themselves of today to have equally as much interest in old Playstations.

Everybody is so super concerned about what happens when in 20 years at the earliest the PS5 servers go down but will you care? Will you be playing games? Will you be alive?

Something to be said for just enjoying video games in the moment.
