This is unironically a great game.
>>
>>744244028
No it isn't.
>>
>>744244102
Why isn't it??
>>
Don't expect to be forgiven for allowing yourself to be baptised.
>>
The gameplay is 250% worse than the first Bioshock.
>>
>>744244028
it really is, when it released people were mad at it because it wasn't what the first trailer promised, but it is a solid game. Nowadays npcs just hate it for no actual reason
>>
>>744244137
>gameplay took out any semblance of imsim elements, making it a forgettable corridor shooter
>narrative is genuinely the most pretentious garbage ever put in a video game
>with early trailers and the first hour of gameplay it cynically baited people in to thinking it would actually have a theme it was exploring like the previous Shocks, but pivoted in to the Elizabeth hoedown two hours in
>>
Playing it right after playing through Bioshock 1 and 2 paints it in such an absurdly unfavorable light. you've got a fun game that's basically slightly consolized system shock and then a super fun more action-oriented immersive sim and then you have this linear setpiece shooter that's only propped up by spectacle, more or less

minerva's den, made by the future developers of gone home of all things blows it out of the water as a game and does a better job of tackling race simply by virtue of having a black main character that doesn't exist to be a violent radical to make the "revolutions can be bad too" point
>>
At first I liked it because the setting is neat (better than just doing Rapture again) and Elizabeth (of course) - but I got extremely bored playing it, and could not even finish the game. I looked up the ending and it was something retarded.
>>
The gameplay is dreadful. The story is preachy fedora tipping nonsense. The setting is retarded. It's horrible. The first game is carried by a fantastic setting, so hard that the goodwill lasted into this shitheap.
>>
a kosher game made for the goyim
>>
>>744244938
"Tackling Race" wasn't really the point of Daisy Fitzroy, specially not in the context "there are multiple realities were she and others can completely different personalities within each of them. She's just there to represent the ignored problem that ends up being the downfall of the place. Like how in Rapture, Andrew Ryan wanted to make his own city because he was like "fuck the US Government and the communists demanding that I share MY shit, I gonna make a true, free market capitalist society, where only the best who truly appreciate the free market will be allowed in so there's no chance of parasites leeching off of me" only for the Frank Fontaine another like minded free market capitalist to start up a communist revolution to usurp him and take his shit.

It's like the 90s Island of Dr Moreau movie, a jumbled mess that is still more interesting than almost anything else from that time.
>>
Why are you making those bioshock infinite threads day by day, do you want to lure our weird Elizabeth larper out or what is the purpose you freak
>>
>>744245698
in the end they use the enslaved underclass of columbia simultaneously for the player's righteous indignation when they're oppressed and their righteous indignation when they Go Too Far and start killing innocents without any of those characters being much more than plot devices to illustrate the failings and fall of the city. I think even they realized that feels weird which is why they went back and made Daisy threatening a child All Part of the Plan.

I don't think Bioshock 2 or Infinite really did as good of a job as Bioshock 1 of showing the perspectives of "regular" people on the ground who were ultimately victimized by Atlas and Ryan. It doesn't feel as weird for 2 because the city has already fallen and everyone left is a crazy mutant, but in Infinite it feels a little stark that your main protags are mostly self-occupied and end up gunning down vicious revolutionaries for most of the game.
>>
>>744244028
>meet Elizabeth
>she opens a tear to like new York immediately
>WE GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE
>the entire rest of the game is wondering how to get off Columbia after witnessing a portal off of Columbia being opened and shut effortlessly
Retarded game with a retarded story
Remember that entire hour of gameplay that was dedicated to booker and Elizabeth walking to the police station thinking they would pick up a CNC machine by hand and carry it back to the armorer? Or ghost mom?
>>
>>744244028
It unironically isnt.
>>
>>744245425
Dreadful?? Lmao
>>
>>744244028
>forces you to watch the entire length of every cutescene
>oh there was a cutscene at the start of the area and you just died?
>forced to watch it AGAIN
>>
I like how the primary complaint of BioShock 1 and 2 was that the gunplay wasn't very good, and their response to that was making a shooting gallery game where the gunplay still wasn't very good
>>
>>744246054
>I don't think Bioshock 2 or Infinite really did as good of a job as Bioshock 1 of showing the perspectives of "regular" people on the ground who were ultimately victimized by Atlas and Ryan
They should have made Jeremiah Fink more of an involved character. Because the entire revolution was about the shit that specifically he was doing. This doesn't need to have racial elements applied either. Honestly what would have been better is if not Comstock was the founder of Columbia, but instead it was Fink who was the main founder, and Comstock was just the trusted preacher that has a massive amount of sway. Still am antagonist to Booker, just not the actual main leader of the place.

Gameplay is bland
Setting is great
Characters are insanely good
History is something is suppose
Porn is absolutely peak
>>
>>744246382
Nearly every element of the game is undercooked, even Comstock lacked any real presence or apparent power. Even in the first hour the game feels like complete chaos where you're shooting everyone because.....it's a shooting game I guess....but it never feels coherent like BioShock 1 and 2
>>
>>744246349
bioshock 2 is fun as fuck as a shooter today if your definition of good shooting isn't solely defined by sound design/ and animations. powers are great, plasmid combos are great, and almost every weapon is pretty punchy and gets better with special ammo. stuff like ap machine gun ammo blowing up on contact with the enemy, slugs ragdolling enemies, rocket spears in general, drill dash
>>
>>744246349
They wanted the vigors and the plasmids to stand out more than the guns. That kinda makes since but at that point, you just go "why make it an Fps then?"
>>
The rail system only shines in like one sequence.
>>
>>744246530
You also only fight 4 handymen(this universes big daddy(sort of)) through the whole game
>>

>vigors suck
>can only carry 2 guns at a time
>have to rotate through guns, even the shitty ones, because you can only get ammo that's lying around on the ground
>upgrade system on guns despite the above
>couldn't figure out how to make an escort not annoying so they just removed her from the gameplay entirely
>shooting game but you can't shoot NPCs even when you have full control like stopping the jihadist nun before she blows up the blimp you're on
>cutscenes are of the walkie talkie variety so you can't skip them
>double whammy because the story is really fucking bad
I think not, OP.
>>
>>744246591
they mentioned before the game came out that they wanted a variety of enemies like the big daddy, the motorized patriots are one of them. a few of the others either only get one fight or don't get a fight at all in the final game. like songbird is clearly the protector to elizabeth's little sister but they either realized it didn't work or didn't even try to give it a fight
>>
>>744246512
>Comstock lacked any real presence or apparent power.
Part of that stems from the plot of going the numerous versions of Columbia, each implied to have subtle but noticeable dimensions differences, yet that aspect is just a means to get through the levels. It's not like your going through like a handful versions that you thoroughly explore.
>>
Im not gonna lie and say 1 and 2 are high art, but both 1 and 2 are obviously games for adults while infinite plays like a game for highschoolers.
>>

Unironically killed looking forward to new games while feeling hyped for me forever. It was my coming of age moment.
>>
>>744246784
All video games are toys for children. Every single M rated game was primarily played by 12-16 year olds. Including Bioshock. It's just that more modern games are made for manchildren since kids don't want to play this shit
>>
Real Indian hours, huh
>>
>hallway - arena - hallway arena
>same waves of enemies over and over again
>it's most efficient riding the rails making half the game a literal rail shooter
>writers so up their own ass that they spoil the twist of game in the first 10 minutes
>remember that card levels of "smart" all throughout
Feels like the bargain bin got narcissism
>>
>lame ass two guns shooter

the only fun thing is in a meta way that your AI escort quest partner is the most popular pornstar of all time

and if bioshock infinite is such a 10/10 classic why has there never been a sequel in the 13 fucking years since it released
>>
It's bad because... it's JUST IS OKAY?!? Don't make me post the picture of the bad looking fruitstand!

the health system was so retarded in higher difficulties. Not only was the shield system ripped completely out of Halo and feel out of place, but since your shields got destroyed instantly on hard mode and your health dwindled you had to run around the battlefield like a retard picking up every food item from thrash cans and tables to top yourself off. I don't know why they didn't keep the medkits. Or at least make the enemies drop health or something.
>>
All I remember about this shit game is that it represents the height of reddit faggots crying about the United States and Christianity

Don't bad mouth System Shock you stupid nigger.
Shock is based and its worst game is better than your favourite game.
>>
>>744246349
Bioshock 2 is one of the best shooters of its time, and still holds up today. It's impressive since the game has so many elements but the core combat is still great, and you really work yourself up to feeling like an unstoppable God by the end, combining all your powers and weapons, some of the most fun I've had was just decimating everything with level 3 plasmids and maxed out weapons.
>>
>>744248319
>Unironically killed looking forward to new games while feeling hyped for me forever.
kek, for me it was Fallout 4, but Bioshock Infinite started process for me. I remember watching that gameplay demo that didn't turn out to be anything like the final game nonstop before release, and nothing felt as disappointing as Songbird dying in a cutscene rather than having a boss fight with it. It was like a punch to the gut.
>>
By far the funniest thing about Infinite is that they forgot to give plasmids- I mean vigors a place in the setting, so they're just tacked on with basically zero context.
>>
>>744248319
Same, it was the last game I preordered. Got the collector's edition that came with that tiny piece for a board game I never bought lmao
>>
>>
>>744244028
It is a good game but normies don't know anything about quantum physics so the story confuses them.
>>
>>744244137
Because it has weak story-to-gameplay synergy, (I refuse to call it "ludonarrative dissonance") where the intro is super ambitious and Half Life esque, but then you randomly have an overly visceral kill, and the rest of the game is mindless combat, and a story that feels like it isn't achieving what it's pushing on you, and then a semi weak ending segment.

The game feels like it's 3 really clumsily implemented parts to me. The rollercoaster intro which feels a bit like an adventure game. Then AAA combat slop for 5 hours with terrible writing. And then an exit montage that feels like "where was the rest of THAT game" and even then it isn't very good.

Like, it's trying to be this "masterpiece" and it's not even coming close.
