Why did people stop buying physical games if they're so much better than digital?
Remember how Gabe Newell said piracy was a convenience problem? Well, the same thing applies to physical. It's a convenience problem.
>>744245714>phase out and stop offering physical copies for games, with a lot of games only having digital copies.>See? People don't buy physical anymore, most sales are digital.Fuck off, you disingenuous faggot.
>Steam kills all physical for PC>PC is half of the gamers world wide
>in years first halfLmao
>>744245714lots of retail locations closed down, made it hard to get them. Lots of games also stopped releasing physical versions. Hardware prices increased as well, the memory required for a physical version of a game is no longer a trivial cost due to the AI boom
>>744246526Yeah all those plastic discs they print with memory. Could cost like ten cents each.
>>744246521How else could Mat control the narrative? If he includes the holiday season where the bulk of the sales happen and people are more inclined to get something tangible then the numbers look too good!
>>744245714It’s not our fault for wanting instant gratification and not having the wherewithal to campaign against or even boycott digital platforms like Steam, it’s societies fault, nothing I could do, rigged capitalism mechanics, the patriarchy, institutional racism, etc.
>>744245714Because the digital distribution lets the publishers make much more dynamic sales. Suddenly this old game is $2.5 on Steam or PSN. Try buying it physically and it's either unavailable at retailer or it's usually full price. And 2nd hand market doesn't count as sale.
>>744245714>January - June
>>744246905are you retarded or something? nintendo hasn't used a plastic disc for memory since the wiiu in 2012
>>744247012Most releases happen in fall especially for that.
I am a great statistician! Your profits are red!
>>744246194no, he said it was a service problem
>>744246194LARPer touristsgotta be asmongold watcher or something shallow
>>744245714Because the people in charge want this. Even if people still would like to buy physical, so they push digital everywhere. As it gives less ownership to people and so more money to them. It's not a big conspiracy, it's all about the money. This isn't just about games. Many song albums, or movies, don't even release physically anymore, or only in low quantity.
>>744245714>Fewer and fewer places stocking physical games over the last two decades>Wow why are physical sales downIT'S A FUCKIN' MYSTERY I TELL YA.
>>744249240>>744249116Either way, people pirated cause it's convenient. Steam was more convenient. Now people are buying digital cause it's more convenient.
>>744249361>places sell less and less physical so they stock less>"WTF they are stocking less physical and it's reducing sales!"If places were stocking less physical, they would sell out more and they would incentivized to buy more.
>>744245714The current "physical" copies are practically worthless. Most games still require mandatory content downloads, day-one patches, DLCs, countless hotfixes, and ongoing updates just to be complete or even playable. Back then, physical copies actually meant something. You could install the game straight from the disc and have the complete experience. Those days are long gone.
You can only sell as many copies as they produce. Half of Switch 2 cartridge games are out of stock on Amazon. Several pre-orders for PS5 standard editions are out of stock. I have several collector's editions on pre-order that sold out in a day.
>>744245714Maybe the number would be higher if Playstation had released more than 7 games this year.
