what makes remake/rebirth/revelation a worse FF7 experience than the original?
(other than the fact it's seperated into 3 fully priced games)
t. never played FF7 og/remakes
>>
it's not actually a remake, it's an alternate universe sequel thing
the subtitle of the first one is "remake", it's more like the eva rebuilds though
>>

I guess the storyflow. There is too many distractions with sidequest. Other than that it's much better than og, besides muh nostalgia

>what makes remake/rebirth/revelation a worse FF7 experience than the original?

-Made with Unreal Engine.

-Outsourced mostly to Indians, which results a very mixed bag of generic assets being thrown into a world, totally destroying the retro-futuristic, anime-punk dystopian vibes the classic FF7 had.

-OST butchers the classic tunes, lacking "oomph" and good mixing.

-It's not a single, finished game, but "episodic" slop that costs 80 bucks / ep + DLC tip.
Yes, paid DLC for the episodes!

-Autoplay combat stolen from XV. In large, empty MMO battle arenas that stick out from the environment.

-It is NOT the same story, but a fucking timey-wimey alternative timeline SEQUEL to the 1997 game and its many spinoffs / sequels from the past 25 years, like the "Advent Children" movie.
The whole "big twist" is that the characters try to PREVENT the 1997 game's story from happening, but the UNIVERSE won't let them!

...ergo, all the nu-fags won't get any of the "twists" and references, and the old-fags who waited quarter of a century to get a REmake 1 (2002) style faithful recreation won't get their fix.

-Literal Westoid DEI firm worked as a consultant and forced shittons of censorship on the characters AND the story. Women are not allowed to be sexy, a literal red light disctrict in scifi slums is no longer seedy, nobody fucking DIES in the story no more, red blood is almost all gone, there's tons of gay and nigger NPCs littering the game world, and they implemented a literal LGBT+ themed MUSICAL into the first episode, just because they could.

-Every single character is unlikable, "Disney-fied" knockoff of their former self.
Cloud's no more a stoic emo, Barret's no longer a literal Mr. T knockoff, Cid is no longer a wife-beating, swearing drunkyard who chain smokes, and XIII is now Emperor Kuzco v2.
The big bad guy, of whom you mostly heard about thru the game, is now shoehorned into the story every 30 or so minutes, ruining the build-up and shock factor.

Yeah it's more a commentary on the original in the form of an in-universe sequel thing. I think it just triggers nostalgiafags by reminding them the original was never very good. Soundtrack fucks though.

The original FF7 is a timeless masterpiece that appeals to newbies and oldfags a like, just like the FF6 before it.

The pacing, presentation, gameplay and especially writing of the DEmake sucks donkey dick. There's no sugarcoating this fact.
Only underage iPhone homos who've never played the classic FF7 could even try to challenge this.

>>744491267
Add one more thing to the list:

Part 2 turns into a literal Ubishit open-world slop, with literal AssCreed towers and map markers spoiling everything.
>>
>>744490107
Imagine a game that has strong pacing.

Now imagine you take that game, bloat the first two to four hour section of it into a full 40 hour game where over half that content is just pointless fluff and filler to waste time. Bloat the second by adding tons of mandatory side activities. And bloat the third by doing both.

Your well paced 30-40 hour game is now over 120 hours with a plot that only needed a third of that runtime to organically play out.

It also does multiverse shit that nobody likes, was implemented horribly ruining some of the most iconic scenes ever in video games, and is only there to bait changes to the main plot we all know won't actually happen. it's all a perfect embodiment of 'the more things change the more they stay the same'
>>
>>744490107
It's not actually a remake. It's a sequel and the plot assumes you already played it.
>>
>>744490107
It's better, turd based sissies should be killed.

>what makes remake/rebirth/revelation a worse FF7 experience than the original?
It's a sequel to the PS1 game. No, for real.
Also, it takes 80 hours to beat one episode of the "remake", where as the original can be beaten 100% in 50 hours. The bloat, padding, retcons and raped designs are outstanding.

And then there's the American woke-fags, poisoning the Japanese gaming industry as a whole. SEGA already fell victim for this cancer, resulting heavy censorship of Persona and Yakuza games with their recent remakes and re-releases.

>(other than the fact it's seperated into 3 fully priced games)
You say that as if it wouldn't be a massive thing.
Fun fact: PS4 got the ep1, but NONE of the others.
>>
>>744491512
There's no reason to play the remakes for over 20 hours a piece, and they need the extra time because the original script was way too condensed and full of big missable plot points.
>but the side quests
If you play the original without spoilers and get all the final limit breaks and Knights of the Round you're easily putting in 100 hours. If anything og respects your time less because you can miss Yuffie, Vincent, Gongaga, ... without solving every puzzle and checking every corner. That kind of shit doesn't play any more. People have hundreds of decent games they could be trying.
>>
>>744490107
Remake/rebirth are not FF7. Both are completely different games from the original and only share vague similarities with the characters and story. Even the setting is completely different. It's better to say they're "inspired by" FF7. Remake is a corridor action game and rebirth is a ubislop-like. Neither of them are RPGs or proper Final Fantasy titles. If they didn't have FF7 characters, no one would care about them and they would likely flop like flopspoken did.

>what makes remake/rebirth/revelation a worse FF7 experience than the original?
the story mostly, it was the strongest aspect of the original so for old players it has been butchered and turned into kingdom hearts and to new players nothing really makes sense
that's not to say i didn't enjoy part 1 and 2, gameplay wise i think they're great but they let it get Nomura'd unfortunately

Yes, games are retard-proof. What an improvment. Hide nothing from the player or he will go play niggerball.

A video game must have adequate pacing. It has to respect the player's time. And most people want to platinum everything.

>>
>>744495540
If it's in the game, I'm going to judge it. The minigames are a slog to go through.
>>
Pacing is worse across the board precisely because it got split into 3 parts. It's also not actually a remake despite hitting most of the story beats of the original, and pretty much expects you to have played the original at some point. The biggest twists in the game are either just spoiled early on or completely botched because that scene doesn't matter here and they want to tell their own story

There's so many parts of Remake where I have to stop and ask "why the fuck did they do that?" Case in point: after Sector 7 falls, we see Cait Sith watching from a distance and lamenting the destruction. So my question is why the FUCK is Cait Sith there? Cait Sith is controlled by Reeve. And Reeve was only using Cait Sith to ingratiate himself into the party to relay information back to Shinra. An act he wouldn't do until an entirely different continent. So why is he piloting his stupid robot toy to watch something he could see from the window? President Shinra is literally doing that from a couple floors above him. Does Reeve regularly just walk around pretending to be a cat before he decided to spy on Avalanche?
