If this essay videos are on a niche subject where the author goes into autistic length, I dislike but can accept it. For me its the trend from the past ~3 years or so to pretend you are doing an impossible difficult or tedious task in the "survival" mode of a game but really just using cheats, savescumming, creative mode, etc. To do it and then heavily editing the video and offering no proof (no in game stats etc.) That can prove they really did what they say. For awhile I knew it was happening in Minecraft (see Carvs videos as an example of a modern version) but I habe started to see this spill over into other games too. I knew it had become an epidemic when I saw a Reshef of Destruction (yugioh) playthrough where the tuber claims he beat it without ever losing a single battle but in order to restore your HP in the game (which can be and needs to be done after every battle) you return to your PC where you can also save and re-load the game lmao. But 10 year olds eat it up and treat these people like massive heroes for their "achievements". I hate Twitch with a passion but I will give them one thing, it is a lot harder to fake when playing live.
