Similarly to the situation with Takemura being split into two characters, there was supposed to be a "Militech path" as an opposite to the Arasaka path. In this path it would Stout, rather than Takemura, who helps you in a lot of main missions (getting into the Arasaka facility with the parade floats, etc). They decided against it as they simply had too much on their plate, but there's a timeline where you and Stout team up together and are romance partners.

Instead, you either boink her in the No Tell Motel or you find her in the water.

I can't remember if it's Takemura or River that gets split in two, but the idea is that they were both going to be the same character.

The idea was that the overall questline (which would have included the creepy kiddie fiddler mission) was meant to be a sort of enemies turned buddy cops situation that the developers intended to feel like season 1 of True Detective. Obviously you're not meant to like the big Arasaka strongman as Coolguy McMercenary but through shared experiences on harrowing missions you'd grow to be friends.

Even Panam isn't off limits in that ending, because it's only her buddies cock blocking you, you never get to directly talk to her to explain things, so it'd be trivial to track her down and mend things.
Only downside is Viktor losing his clinic to Corpos but that was coming in any ending anyway, and not being able to install mods, but that's only useful if you're a lowlife gangbanger shooting up crowds.
Objectively the best outcome for V.

Second best is the one where Johnny takes over your body.

This game has no good endings. Each ending leaves you with either a bittersweet or resentful feeling. You literally can't do anything for the characters that are suffering, you can't save anyone not even yourself. It is misery the game. Barghest and Netwatch are factions that are trying to atleast accomplish something or better the world (but the game tells you they are evil). I don't like the game interferring with my choices and then bragging that it is giving the player freedom. You are not giving the player freedom by allowing him to choose whether he is going to have a circumsized penis or not. You need to give him "actual" freedom. Make him feel that his choices actually matter.

But anyone who "has" played the game and knows all endings will also know that choices really don't matter in this game.

I think people who get overly pissy about Songbird forget that the time between her meeting V and either dying or escaping is at maximum like a week or two, arguably shorter. Her character is someone who has been under the close watch of the FIA since she was 19 under threat of her loved ones being hunted by Netwatch to get at her. Myers forced her to breach the Blackwall regularly which fucked her brain and body beyond repair to the point where she was now terminally fucked.

So in 2077 when she comes up with her escape plan and recruits a mercenary who kills people for money, I dunno why people are shocked at the idea that she didn't reveal information that would jeopardise her one chance at escaping. Yes, Reed is "more honest" but Reed isn't facing anywhere nearly the same level of dire that Songbird is. I have done both endings and ultimately prefer sending her to the moon but anyone who gets uppity about her "betraying" V is daft.

When Evelyn returned to Clouds post-heist, the VBD launched a virus on her that rendered her conscious but physically unresponsive. Her dollchip was functional but she wasn't able to really respond or fight back, despite being (mostly) aware. Woodman raped her himself for a few days before handing her off to Fingers to see if her expensive cyberware could be salvaged. When its revealed that Fingers "can't" fix her, Woodman leaves Evelyn with him and he starts messing with her before eventually passing her on to be sold to scavengers.

The Scavs then use her (still aware of what's happening to her by the way) to make extreme braindances; they're a gang that specialise in snuff, so they abuse the shit out of her then hook her up to whatever medical gear is needed to keep her alive. She was with them for around 1-2 weeks depending on V's actions. Due to her Cyberware, the feelings she experiences (physical and mental) are dialled up massively, which is why the Scavs wanted to use her to record extremely vivid braindances. When you rescue her there's still no real way to confirm she can be fixed from what the Voodoo Boys did, on top of spending a few weeks being a semi-comatose but often aware cocksock for violent gangsters and snuff film artists. Judy's "plan" to somehow try take over clouds without retaliation was retarded, but her anger and justification for doing it made perfect sense.

The money for the relic comes with a witness protection gig with Netwatch; you can find this out via Bryce's computer which notes that she'll be protected with a new identity.

Arasaka and Militech edge out due to scale+political clout. It started out as a small but popular gun manufacturer that got fucked by the Datakrash and basically went dead entirely-while competitively Arasaka and Militech were already global powers fighting the 4th Corp War. KT started recovering in the 2050s mostly due to their expertise in smart weapons, and thus they became known as the "smart weapon guys."

So while they make stuff just as strong as Arasaka/Militech, they aren't as powerful as them. Most of East Asia remains skullfucked from the past several decades of war+instability so KT are one of the few big dogs out there. In 2077 they're working to try gain influence in NC via Pacifica.

Personally I like the Tower. In my headcanon, V gets Johnny out of his head and becomes a NUSA desk glownigger for the rest of his life. Basically a mentor for the next gen of agents. The only way to get out of Night City in one piece.

The one thing that did piss me off was Panam. I don't know if they purposefully made her retarded in that ending, but I can't get past that she wouldn't at least contact V herself when she found out he was in a COMA.

No. The USA no longer exists, it collapsed in the 2000s and became a dictatorship under President Kress during the 4th Corporate War. What was once the USA was now basically whatever the President+Militech controlled, and then the "Free States" which were basically states that ditched the Union (like Texas) entirely. Remember that at this point much of California (and more broadly, the west) was devastated due to the nuke set off "by Silverhand."

Night City eventually became part of an alliance known as the Pacifica Confederation (basically an alliance of former western states of the USA) and managed to rebuilt a lot; Night City's power and influence allowed it to become basically a microstate as a "free city."

In the 2060s, Rosaline Myers (the President we meet in Phantom Liberty) lead efforts to reunify the territories of the former USA; she convinced some to rejoin "willingly" but then lead the Unification War to annex the rest. This was a big success except she ran into a wall against Night City because the Corporations there liked their independence. One group of NUSA troops occupied what is now Dogtown under Kurt Hansen, but things were so fucked that international aid started to flow into the city (including from the USSR, which still existed). The Mayor of NC (Lucius Rhyne) called in favours with Arasaka and they stepped in to block the NUSA from taking the city. There was a stalemate and then a treaty which ended the war; the Free States were loosely re-integrated but remained autonomous but Night City remained wholly independent as a free city. This Treaty was signed in 2070. Kurt Hansen refused to leave the city and his troops became Barghest and seized Dogtown. The situation now is that everyone is basically waiting for war to break out again.

I haven't played the save in a few days, partially out of being busy but also lack of motivation. When does netrunner actually get fun? As an anecdote, snipers or katanas are fun pretty much right off the bat because snipers start oneshotting mooks and katanas I actually could kill guys with proper blocking and dodging. But net running I have a long cooldown on the ability to deal 20% of the HP of one guy at a time. I don't want to use guns or anything and was hoping to go pure netrunner
