My wife has a switch so i did it to share dlc and load up animal crossing on both systems, but you could also load up digital games on multiple systems. What was happening was nintendo needed to check to make sure only one instance of the game was being played at a time. I used to just connect to my phone for a minute to verify, but it was a pain and obviously shunned for flights. This is no longer an issue. Nintendo uses virtual game carts for all digital switch / 2 games now so it acts like a cart is always in so no more online checks. The only reason it would be removed is if you lend the digital game to someone in your family group.
