I briefly dabbled with retail during the expansion that added the dragon troon race and dragonriding, and the guild I was in had so many people that were either in the forces themselves in some capacity OR were the spouse of one. "daily life on base" was commonplace, it was such a bizarre experience. none of them knew each other prior to joining the guild, the guild was in no way meant for specifically people in the armed forces, which all led me to believe that for whatever reason, people in the army gravitate to WoW more than other professions. and I still have no fucking idea why. but it weirded me out enough to make me feel like I didn't belong in retail and ultimately was what made me think about dropping the game (along with the fact that retail sucks).
