Too ahead of its time. In 5-10 years it'll be the standard.

Two reasons:
•it's a google project and they regularly test the waters with bad ideas
•game streaming will never take off
>>
>>744535840
Come back when you have a BS.
>>
>>744534984
wasn't this like a glorified mobile game console?
>>
Game streaming will only work for games that don't get screwed over by latency issues and that's a very reduced group. You'd be thinking of stuff like turn based strategy games.
>>
>>744536013
no wait, that was the ouya..i think.
>>
>>744534984
they had no proper onboarding
it wasnt initially cheap like gamepass
showing assassins creed odysssey as your flagship was a horrible idea since the high latency did not inspire confidence
should have marketed itself as "netflix but for indie games" to build a core audience instead of jumping the gun and immediately going for AAA when google doesnt have the infra to even do it
>>

The physics are fine. Information travels down a wire at 200km per 1ms. There’s just too much processing in between.
>>
>>744534984
The utterly retarded amounts of input lag and latency, and the moronic pricing.
>>
>all the people mentioning high latency
The average gamer wouldnt notice anything
>>
>>744537837
Clearly they did since nobody liked playing on Stadia

Not Stadia or game streaming but I got zombies working today.

It had barely any games and too expensive
>>
>>744536929
You're ignoring the amount of information.
>>
>>744538521
And nobody liked playing the few games it did have because of the retarded lag
>>
Would not want it even if it meant cheaper games for me.
One reason I can not conjure up a shit about consoles is because they force me to be ONLY a player, mostly there is no role for a GM who controls the gameworld like I can do on PC.
No mods, no debug modes, just some fartsniffers gay "muh artist vision and you have to play thing way I say, consumer!"
Miss me with that shit, might as well just watch movies and not bother with all the hardware imo.
>>
>>744534984
>0.1sec of latency on everything
>on every button
>on every click
>even on the fucking mouse movement
It doesn't sound bad but it's absolutely infuriating in practice.
>>
Unironically there shouldn't have been any entry cost to start playing. Google of all companies could've managed supporting every possible control scheme you already had available, and playing the games on it shouldn't have been any harder than loading up Youtube.
Almost every other successful Google product is ridiculously easy to start using and offers quite a lot on the free tier. If Stadia pulled that off, it would have been a success.
>>
>>744534984
It didn't fail. They just knew it was too soon. Now that ram is going up and consumer hardware will become hard to find eventually.
It will rise.
>>

>Information travels down a wire at 200km per 1ms.
That's not accounting all the shit re-transmitting your signal down the network. You don't have a straight cable to the server, fuckton of machines have to decode your shit, figure out if they know the direction of whatever you are trying to reach, and kick down that direction.
Then shit need to go down the other direction.
And 200km from the next Stadia server is optimistic on average.
>>
Will be a major seller the same day flying cars are
>>

>It will rise
No amount of hardware getting expensive will circumvent every single fucking input lagging like hell. Even normies can *feel* that shit, even if they will be incapable to tell what exactly feel wrong.
People will sooner get back to PS2-tier hardware than using cloud gaming.
>>
>>744534984
I recall you had to pay for a base subscription AND pay full price for each game. Besides, most people who really cared about games already had a PC or console anyway; and casuals just played casual games on their phones.
>>
>>744534984
It sounds like a sugar substitute.
>>
>>744539426
>200km from the next Stadia server is optimistic on average.
most people live in urban areas where this is no problem.
The problem is that the internet wasn't meant for ultra low latency
