Artifical spider webbing is one of the holy grails of materials engineering. It's structural strength relative to its weight and how flexible its applications would be are insane. There is no fucking reason for a broke ass college kid to magic together the shit and regularly produce it in a campus lab without anyone else finding out, and keeping the creation to himself for crimefighting is the dumbest waste of its potential. It's one of the changes that the Raimi movies got right, fuck the comics when it comes to bullshit web canisters. Even the plot convenience of the webs running out allows for better writing by tying it to Peter's health and disposition, instead of just "oops I packed x amount instead of y tonight" contrivance.

"Superhero fatigue" only existed because the movies were getting lame and there was too much crap to follow (in particular all the shows). Brand New Day finds the right middle ground between being standalone and being tied to the Marvel universe. You can get into it without worrying about watching every previous MCU movie, but it still makes you excited for the future of the MCU. Plus it's fucking Spider-Man, everyone loves him and even the worst Spider-Man movies are still fairly enjoyable.
In terms of corporate products it's brilliantly crafted honestly, not shocking it's making so much money. If this had somehow flopped it would have killed superhero films entirely because it checks all the right boxes.

When I was a kid, I remember reading one of the comics where it was mechanical. I was so disappointed. Augmented by tech just isnt cool. Also, its like everyone can be spiderman now. Why not give Captain America a web shooter? Why not hawkeye? Its fucking gay.

You can reason that not only is all of batman's cool shit from his company, but that his company also finds wider uses for the technology for society in general. Peter invents one of the greatest fucking things you could possibly invent, he's not able to ever make enough of it for even himself, and he never allows others to benefit from it. And again he is fucking impoverished and is sneakily making it in university labs or in his apartment. It is CLEARLY not that difficult or expensive to make.

Organic webbing wasn't a thing for thirty years. When it did get introduced, it was in a 2099 spin-off, with a completely different character. It took Sam Raimi and his movies to tie this concept to Peter Parker, about forty years after the character's conception.
