I will never play open world garbage like Witcher 3, I'll begrudgingly deal with a cinematic movie game before that garbage. At least TLoU isn't padded out, at least not in comparison to any open world game ever made.

I just felt frustrated and angry the entire time I played BOTW with a few cool moments, but I just did the main quest then got the master sword and beat the game. I'm about to beat Ganon in TOTK too. It's good for a certain kind of gamer.

I never finished RE 4 because my young nephews broke my Wii while I was still playing i through it.

Tetris I've played the shit out of, but its not the kind of game you can beat.

People only jerk it off because it was the only trash available on PS3 for years after Sony abandoned Killzone and Resistance and people got tired of Uncharted.

Calling Tetris the greatest game of all time is such a meme. If "emergent sophistication from simple rules" were so important as a single category that a game can be GOAT-tier from it and literally nothing else, then there should be way, way more old arcade-style games in like top-50 lists than there are in practice.

Ignore all retards. They call it a Ubisoft tower game because the game has towers. In Ubisoft games you unlock a tower and it adds points of interest on your map of shit to do. In BotW it's literally used as a vantage point to see the surrounding areas around you. Nothing it put on your maps and you unlock is that the world map is now visible in that area, so you can see where rivers and mountains etc are. If you find something interesting YOU have to mark it. Its one of the better open world games because you can actually climb over any obstacle (except a few decorational pillars but you can still cheese them to get up on top of them). And the game lets you go anywhere right after you get off the beginning tutorial plateu. Assassin's Creed has linearity because you need to do missions to further the story. The story in BotW is seen through optional memories you walk into. You can do as many dungeons as you want to get stronger or fight better. But you CAN just wander around to take in the world and do little side quests and requests from people you come across.

An early trailblazer in the sin of shooters having more cutscenes than gameplay, and with guns that don't feel especially great to use either. Has great art and level design with a lot of small details, it just looks clean too. I'd put the episodes above it, they do cut a lot of the duller sections from the base game and make the ratio between shooting and not shooting more even.

The base game is honestly pretty god damn boring, nobody ever gave a shit about Ciri and dimension hopping elves. It is also bogged down heavily by the modern trappings of AAA dogshit. Not just the open world, which is pretty I'll admit, but the mmo style gearing and item sets, every other contract needing batman vision to lead you to where the monster is.
Hearts of stone is significantly better as it skips a lot of the worst bits of the main game to just have a shot but interesting story. Too bad the scaling is fucked and makes every enemy into a damage sponge for no reason.
B&W was alright but not as good because it has the same issues the main game has.

Capcom released a lot of bangers around this time, resi 4 is not my favourite game from that period but it is a good one. Worthy of recognition as a display of how to make an escort objective not be aggravating without just making the escort target a non-factor.
