Resident Evil is not the characters or the overarching plot. Resident Evil is the SURVIVAL HORROR. RE6 is hyper-scripted over-the-top shooter slop. RE7 had problems but it understood what made RE1 work infinitely more than RE6. RE6 is unrecognizable as a RE game. It's not even good as a successor to RE4.

There's a good game somewhere in RE6's campaigns but there is far too much bullshit burying it. I see how the systems are an attempt to evolve the base gameplay of 4/5, but at this level of action emphasis I don't know why you'd go with a series that made its name on shambling zombies. It should've been a new IP altogether that shed any and all pretense of being Resident Evil. It'd be a lot better for it. I enjoyed the gameplay of RE6, well enough. Story was pretty shit though, and they tried to have their cake and eat it too with both obvious multiplayer campaigns (because RE5) and obvious solo campaigns (because RE4) which steps on its own toes a bit.
