>Every major sales report shows that most gamers that buy a lot of games are in their 30s>Kids today are focused on F2P games and the occasional friendslopIf this continues, gaming will die with our generation.
>>744542012it will just evolve, also no, gaming dying means every single game disappearing and that is not happening
Yeah, I noticed that most people I meet online only care about multiplayer games. Something that is the complete opposite for me, who only likes immersive single-player experiences. We're just old.
>>744542012Industries can't "die" that easily. Gaming has not and will not become obsolete, so no amount of economic freakouts will change that.
>>744542168>it will just evolve,It's already evolving into a gacha hellscape in everything and "games in a game" like Roblox.>gaming dying means every single game disappearing and that is not happeningIt means that most companies will focus on different experinces that the typical /v/ anon would hate (even more than anything made today). There's a reason why Jim Ryan was investing billions on live-service shit.>>744542172The only time single-player games are mentioned are the ultra popular ones like Cyberpunk. I don't think we'll get hardcore single player games that much anymore.>>744542321>Industries can't "die" that easilyBut they change enough that the thing you knew and liked has completely changed and not the same thing. I dunno about you but I don't want to play games inside Roblox but the kids don't care since it's all free.
>>744542540>But they change enough that the thing you knew and liked has completely changed and not the same thing. That's not gonna happen. Gaming as a concept can't change. It's just gonna boil down to whether or not you like the new thing which already is here if you're old enough.
>>744542012Kids don't have jobs
I hate young people. Do you know what the problem with young people today is? They're young.
Gaming will just be F2P with the occasional single player games for uncs until millenials die out.
>>744542752Thisbtw if you're 35 or younger you're still a kid
>>744542651If you traveled back in time 25 years ago and meet your young self and tell him that "hey, there is this 1000 hour game where it's full of daily events and you can pull a cool character if you're lucky, but if you didn't get it, then just put $100s of dollars for a chance to get the cool character where it has it's own event", he would probably think this is the coolest shit in the world and all the PS2 games he's playing sucks. The game is sports shit like Madden or FIFA 26 because they have such insane gacha monetization.
>>744542012>>744542321Long term millennial fad. No one is going to buy a single player game in ten years. Even Nintendo sees the writing on the wall with that Roblox clone they keep playtesting. There won't be new Mario games, it will be Mario themed experiences in Nintendo's walled garden GAAS MMO.
>>744543184>Even Nintendo sees the writing on the wall with that Roblox clone they keep playtestingQRD?
>>744543236They did "secret" playtests for a tech demo of a game that is clearly their attempt to get a piece of the Roblox pie. Nintendo has openly stated they regret not being the company to create Roblox or Minecraft first because they "feel" like games Nintendo should have made. They're right btw
>>744542012Idk last game i bought was Bible on steam
>RAMs and components in general are also fuckedThat's one other reason why gaming will potentially die.>>744543348I could see Nintendo making a competent alternative but I doubt games like Roblox or even Minecraft will ever die. Sony went the opposite direction of wanting hardcore GAAS shit like Marathon and Concord but they flopped hard.
>>744543086>but if you didn't get it, then just put $100s of dollars for a chance to get the cool character where it has it's own event25 years ago I found Runescape as a kid and i would've called you a niggerfaggot for coming up with some shit this
>>744542012>If this continues, gaming will die with our generation.Okay, why should I care?
>>744542012yes, this is mostly correct and I can't see any way around it. Free to play games are meant to be addicting, have a socializing aspect (most are online), and heavily stimulating. >>744542168>it will just evolve, also no, gaming dying means every single game disappearing and that is not happening Every game you've ever liked, or for that matter, is highly regarded as "the best game ever" was made under a specific business model where they sell it for a price, and make a profit off of this one time transaction. That model is DYING. What will replace it is slop, AI slop, indie slop, etc. The algos (and steam is functionally a social media site like Youtube) is to push out content as fast as possible, and screw over individual creators turning it into a lottery system (a few massively benefit, most fail).
>>744543781>wins 200k>looks dead insidewhy
>>744542012>If this continues, gaming will die with our generationGaming as you know it has already died, you just didn't realize it.>Takes 5+ years for a sequel or iteration of a mainstream series that was popular from the 90s and early 2000s to release>RAM pricing has completely raped consumers when console and PC manufacturers are all raising prices instead of lowering them>F2Ps provide infinite value compares to traditional games>Kids today do not give a single shit about oldfag popular series like Metal Gear, Halo or Final Fantasy, only people in their 20s or 30s care You need to accept that this hobby is for 30+ people now. Same with TV shows because kids watch either YouTube shorts or Instagram reels of AI slop as entertainment
>>744542012parents dont want to buy their kids a 900 dollar playstation and 100 dollar games
>>744544614>You need to accept that this hobby is for 30+ people now. Same with TV shows because kids watch either YouTube shorts or Instagram reels of AI slop as entertainmentThe obvious downside is this removes any possibility of artistry. Have you noticed the sheer amount of shorts formats that are just clips from old shows? This kind of media is by its nature parasitic, in that it latches onto "host" and sucks them dry for their on benefit, but then destroys the host. Namely traditional tv/films that it sucks off of. The publisher beomces not a magazine or tv studio, but instead just the algos. And then all media just becomes twitter-netflix-amazon-meta-google, so all our media is just housed by a handful of tech companies. Oh boy, that's like a sci-fi dystopia novel right there. Hey remember novels? Yeah no one reads anymore.
>>744545032Anyone under the age of 25 balks at games costing more than like $5 because of Roblox
I'm doing my part.
>>744543924Because he probably spent 200k to get there
>>744545608>no report
kids won't even know how to use their hands because their brain chip will just feed content directly into their heads
>>744542012>gaming will die with our generationAnd thats a good thing
>AAA dies>all that is left is indie and older gamesGod yes please.
>>744547920>Indie just copies older games and rogutlite elements to them>Older games are almost always on the risk of getting copyright strikes Dogshit future
