>Still not an official, definitive version of FF1-6

Based on my understanding and research, I came to this conclusion:

>FF1 and FF2
PS1 Origins version.
>(haven't played FF3)
>FF4
SNES with Namingway translation patch
>FF5
SNES with Spooniest/Legend of the Crystals translation patch
>FF6
SNES with Revised Old Style Edition translation patch

Am I wrong?
>>
FF6 Ted Woolsey is the definitive version
>>
>>744544127
It's alright but there's some strange wording. The ROSE version I mentioned is similar enough but the writing is much better. It's sort of a fusion of Woolsey and Slattery.

I, IV and V are best on GBA for the extra dungeons
>>
>MUH LOCALIZATION fag
just play the newest release of each you absolute spaz
>>
I'm not a fan of the conversions that alter the older games from Vancian spellcasting to mana pools, and a lot of the extra stuff Squeenix adds onto re-releases just makes the game worse off (Chrono Trigger was especially bad with the endless trips ups and down that mountain).
Personally I like the Pixel Remasters a lot for the first 3, though 3D can be neat if you're into more tough endgame.
>>
>>744544026
The originals for all of them
>>
>>744544026
No, for IV, V and VI it's the GBA with sound patch.

Why SNES with translation patch instead of GBA with music patch?

The platforms are correct. I don't know or care about translations. Play in Japanese if you truly care about a best version.

It does seems like it would be easier to swap text rather than music.
>>
I generally like the 2d psp ones
>>
>>744544367
Why was Squenix too assblasted to include the GBA/PSP dungeons as optional content in their pixel remasters or all of the War of Lions content in the Tactics remaster?
>>
>>744545229
Ew the sprites are hideous in those
>>
>>744545386
I don't think so, the sprites only became real shitty in the later mobile ports that somehow managed to fuck up the spritework.
>>
>>744545229
They are the best in theory but the graphics are a big turnoff for me.
They simple designs of the early titles look uncanny with that much detail.
>>744545243
The pixel demasters have mobile phone UI and vfx from an asset pack. They are slop for the pigs.
The extra dungeons suck though so I don't see their omission as a flaw.
>>
>>744545469
PSP visuals were kinda bad, but the mobile versions are horrendous.
>>
Bros is the upcoming ff resonance based off a good game? I’ve never beaten a ff before and I think the trailers for resonance look cool.
>>

>>744545550
Again I don't agree. PSP versions are just more detail and if that breaks your brain then go with a more pixelated version.
>>
>>744545491
>The extra dungeons suck though so I don't see their omission as a flaw.
I never understood that argument. There is isn't a single good dungeon in FF I-VI, so those new ones fit right in.
>>
>>744545469
They were busy adding faggots kissing in FF16
>>
>>744545648
In that case shouldn't you be indifferent towards them?
>>
does ff1 on ps1 have any loading times? i'm probably only thinking that bacause of the snes ports...
>>
>>744545812
I and especially II features extra story with those dungeons, I didn't care much about IV, V and VI but there were some nice new items.
>>
>>744545606
That's fine if you like them. I just think that little dudes shouldn't be that detailed.
It's kinda like those uncanny "realistic" renders of cartoony characters like Kirby or Sonic for me it that makes sense.
>>
>>744545812
No. They add new job classes and super bosses to test your end game builds against.
Its worth doing them.
>>
>>744545886
It has some but it's only 5 and 6 that are horrible with the loading times on the PS1 ports
>>
>>744545968
They are closer to PS1/Saturn 32-bit sprites for me so I see no issue with it.
>>
>>744544026
The extra dungeons for V and VI on GBA are actually really fun but I realized long ago trying to convince people to play them is futile because FFags don't actually care for the gameplay and just want the best graphics and audio.
>>
>>744544026
People like you are so funny to me. I don't know what this illness is but you chase after the absolute best version of a game and go through all of the convoluted steps to set it up then never make it past the first few minutes.
Meanwhile the people who don't worry about that stuff or overthink it will just go buy the pixel remaster off of steam or the eshop as will sit down to actually play the game.
Basically, just play the damn game and stop obsessing over creating the most perfect experience imaginable.
>>
>>744546453
But I obsessed over that and binged them all from start to finish?
>>
>>744546326
>and just want the best graphics and audio
But PSP versions are rarely recommended?
>>
1,2 -> PSP
3 -> NES
4 -> DS
5,6 -> SNES
>>
what if I just buy the collection on steam?
>>
>>744546871
just make sure to change the font because the default EN fonts are awful
>>
>>744546743
Those have the second-to-worst graphics (only the mobile ports of 5 & 6 are worse) don't know about the audio
>>
>>744546871
font aside they are perfectly serviceable
I'd argue 3 PR is the best version
>>
>>744546907

the authentic versions are the original famicom/sfc versions
otherwise I'd say the following:
I+II+IV = PSP
III = Pixel Remaster
III 3D = PSP or PC
IV 3D = DS
V+VI = GBA
the PS1 versions are all cack because load times

Not a bad party. Could be more OP without the Red Mage and with a Warrior. Warriors got the best DPS in the game.
Regardless PSP has the Barbarian Blade which is insanely strong.
I'd recommend to give the Masamune to the White Mage as better swords come around, anyone can equip the Masamune.

>>744546871

The pixel remasters are garbage even after modding to unfuck them.

>>744544026

You already have it figured out. The NES versions for 1 and 2 aren't bad they just have a few rough edges. FF3 just play NES if you choose to play it. Another option for 5 is gba translation and bugfix patch. Other options for 6 are a simple GBA translation romhack that also fixes a few bugs, TWUE, or the GBA with sound restoration patch as it does have extra content if you can handle the worse audio and visuals. 4 and 5 also have gba releases and they're ok but do the same patches. 4 also has slowdown but it mostly gets fixed if you boost cpu clock. 5 gba is fine. Avoid PSP anything, the sprites look stupid as shit. Avoid pixel remasters.

I remember my monk turning into a motherfucker once I unequipped one of the very few weapons he got in the game. I felt like a dumbass for having a bad monk for most of the game because I didn't leave his weapon slot empty.

Does the og tie weapons as items to class? As far as i remember anyone can use them which makes anything but a BALS TO THE WALL party pretty much pointless because you get so much gear that let's you have infinite casts

normies dont know how to emulate or have the IQ to do simple things like that
they dont even know how to use
https://www.retrogames.cc/search?q=final+fantasy

they are that lazy and low IQ, here you dont even have to install ANYTHING, nothing. Just load the game and figure out the controllers.
>>
>>744554452
3d remake is better it gives personality to the characters.
>>
>>744554197
Well the White Wizard gets AoE heals and you 100% need those vs Shinryu and Omega. They are unbeatable without the sustain of a White Wiz even at level cap.

Bals To The Wall (Fighter / Warrior x4) will beat almost all the bosses the fastest tho.
>>
>>744544026
I prefer the GBA version for FF1. I like the music more and the 0 load times edge it out for me.
>>
>>744555563
Yeah, Dawn of Souls is kino. As others already pointed out. And it comes with FF2 and it has Soul of Rebirth.

So giving equipment and training your extra party members through the story of FF2 its not meaningless they inherit what they are left with.
>>
>>744555563
The problem is that the GBA version changed the battle system. It's not the original system that FF1 was designed for.
>>
You know, I think I might be willing to overlook all of the issue with Pixel Remaster if they just fixed the judder. All six games have this weird screen judder effect that makes the game look 30fps.

That is my #1 issue and it drives me insane that nobody at Square thought to fix it.
>>
>>744544026
Original versions for all and shut the fuck up. Why do faggots only obsess over this with games? People don't line up to see some new version of the Mona Lisa
>>
>>744556192
Should I really care about the battle system? Like, am I missing out? I don't really care much for the battle system in FFs 1/2/3/4 (I like 5's because of the customization)
>>
>>744556416
nes ff1 is so clunky
oh
>>
>>744544127
Yeah but you cannot manually run without wasting a Relic Slot on the Sprint Shoes. The Uncensored Romhack fixes this.

>>
>>744555359
What enemies are those my brain only remembers what things are called in the og. Besides that im pretty sure some of the gear lets you cast team heal spells
>>
>>744556420
Original FF1 was all about resource management, limited spell uses that can run out, lack of save points, etc. You had to play it carefully and make your way through each dungeon by utilizing spells/items at the right time.

Changing it to the modern system in GBA kind of messes with the game's balance and overall design. Original FF1 just wasn't made with the modern system in mind. If you like it that's fine, it just feels wrong to me. Imagine if they went back to Super Mario Bros. and messed with the mechanics to make it something else.
>>
>>744544026
just play the pixel remasters
>>
>>744556420
most of the battle system is spamming Attack in FF1, only the Black Mage and White Mage magic is changed. Now it uses MP
>>
>>744557182
>What enemies are those
the super bosses in the bonus dungeons at the secret caves that open up when you beat one of the Four Fiends.

In the Water super dungeon. They are hard af.
Ironically the Wind super dungeon ones are easier.

You might be onto something... maybe. I started with FF4 pixel remaster, having not played any of the games before that. I was having fun until I started to learn about the other versions.

However, I will still admit that something felt a little off with FF4. I can't explain it but the game felt kind of fake or cheap, like it wasn't very well designed. I emulated SNES version to compare and it felt much better. Eventually I learned that these are not actually remasters, they are remakes. Completely remade in Unity. That explains why it felt worse.
