>Bro really switched up on his day one homeboy just to get a chance at some zerg pussy.

What happened to Blizzard's writing, Starcraft 2 had such a good story with such charming characters. Tychus was infinitely more memorable and funny than the any character from Overwatch. When did companies decide making bloated live service competitive slop was better than working on a variety of different games and universes and giving each their own unique vibe and identity? Never forget how good big title games used to be compared to how dogshit they are now.

americans became insane in the time blizzard finished wol

I don't think that's totally true because HoTS and LoTV were still pretty decent even if WoL was much better. This was before the jeetification of Blizzard being acquired by Microslop.

Anyone speak retard? I can't understand OP.

Raynor is a simp that thinks that his waifu is worth more than billions of lives, especially after she betrayed him and killed many of his closest friends.
>>
>>744544405
Why does everyone disregard the fact that Raynor saw the future and knew that if Kerrigan died the whole universe would be destroyed?
>>
>>744544405
I honestly don't remember much from the WoL campaing

Did you guys play the game?
Mengsk was gonna terminate Tychus right there regardless of what they do.
Literally the only reason Wings of Liberty happened in the first place was because Mengsk wanted Kerrigan dead and sent Tychus to Raynor to do his dirty work. MENGSK COULD LITERALLY KILL RAYNOR AND HIS COWBOY BUDDIES AT ANY TIME HE WANTED and that's what he was gonna do if they did kill Kerrigan. By sparing Kerrigan Mengsk was forced to take Raynor hostage.
Raynor did nothing wrong. Stop calling him simp.

The writing from everyone involved got softer compared to their previous works. They also probably didn't want to write around the Zerg being defeated right then and there knowing they would be releasing a Zerg and Protoss expansion afterwards. There must always be a Zerg queen/hivemind or whatever the fuck, you know how it works.

Raynor had no other choice in that particular scene, but if the writing was actually good, that scene and the situation he was involved in would have never happened. It gets even worse in Kerrigan's campaign where she's acting like a total retard in multiple scenes. The tension and grittiness of Brood War was something you'd never get again because the writers got worse over time.
>>
>>744547932
>tension and grittiness of Brood War
brood war writing sucked because of kerrigan
she basically black holed the entire story and made everything revolve around her due to how much of a broken mary sue she was
and the retarded hybrid prophecy started at broodwar
Starcraft 2 did quite well salvaging the fuck up that is broodwar story. If it was a company like Valve they would straight up retcon that shit.
>>
>>744544405
They valued their established characters more than they valued story. Corporate values became significantly more important than creative design or narrative. Kerrigan's a popular bad bitch, there is no other compelling zerg character and this is the first part of a three part sequel.
>>
>>744544405
>Tychus was infinitely more memorable and funny than the any character from Overwatch
He wasn't.
Tracer is literally more iconic and memorable than any character from Starcraft.
>>
>>744548480
0/10 bait you could've at least picked someone hot from overwatch to raise your score to 2/10.
>>
>>744544405
Tychus knew he was a dead man walking even if he obeys Mengsk and decided to suicide by Raynor.
That's why he telegraphs his betrayal without just shooting Kerrigan and waits for Raynor to be ready to "try to kill her"
>>
>>744547932
>It gets even worse in Kerrigan's campaign where she's acting like a total retard in multiple scenes.
She was also an immense jerkass, hypocrite and overall unlikable character with a questionable redemption arc that, in the end, was undeserved.
>>744548171
Thing is they ruined Kerrigan and people preferred her as the Queen Bitch of The Universe.
In fact Kerrigan is not the only person Blizzard ruined with its writing.
>>
>>744548098
>she basically black holed the entire story and made everything revolve around her due to how much of a broken mary sue she was
Nope dude. She got the real spotlight in the Zerg Campaign. And what Mary Sue? She literally played the fromerly mentally enslaved by the Overmind to make people believe she was OK now. The Protoss couldn't read her mind and she baited them with a new Overmind in the works. Only Aldaris was the skeptical one, but considering how much of a nagging hag he was in the OG game, everyone brushed him off as Aldaris being Aldaris until it was too late.
Jim was more susceptible, Fenix trusted Raynor, Mengsk knew Kerrigan would backstab him so he fortified himself to weather this...until he did barely and only because Kerrigan held back.

There was also no prophecy stuff here. SCII would present it and the Hybrids were novel back then until they were shown...to be meh.
And no. SCII didn't salvage anything. It made everything worse quality-wise.

She should not have been able to fend off thr final mission..im just gonna say that. If two terran forces and a protoss force surround you, the story should not be allowed to write you an out. It was just pointless wanking.
>>
>>744549775
>She should not have been able to fend off the final mission
Dude. She had a Cerebrate. The player Cerebrate. And Cerebrates work like super computers (because the Overmind made them this way so that they micro for him).
That and all the broods that were under the UED, were feral and such? She took over them. Those Infested Command Centers? She also took them over. She manipulated everyone and bamboozled them into giving her assets. At this point everyone were weakened while she was at her strongest thanks to them. The UED? Broken. The Dominion? Broken. The Protoss? Most having PTSD over the loss of Aiur and weakened.
And again, the final mission was the Cerebrate doing all the heavy lifting until Kerrigan would get to him with reinforcements.
She had all the stuff to win.

She still shouldnt have won. The entire stupid story bent over so that she magically fooled everyone because shes a yas queen girlboss.

>She still shouldnt have won. The entire stupid story bent over so that she magically fooled everyone because shes a yas queen girlboss.
Dude. Those were not only the 90's where this girlboss stupidity didn't exist...did you even hear what I said?
She had at this point the whole Zerg Swarm under her control. The whole damn SWARM. While everyone else was weakened hard and had their advantages stripped.
The Terrans and Protoss in the OG game couldn't defeat the damn Swarm when they were still powerful (especially the Protoss) and how they should've in BW once Kerrigan got everything she had? So no. She had everything needed to win. The numbers, the assets and the backstabs she unleashed when everyone was bamboozled and their guards down, crippling everyone who would've posed a threat. So two Terran factions and the Protoss, all weakened, had NO. FUCKING. CHANCE. No chance with Kerrigan and what she had and you damn know it.
>>
>>744544405
>Starcraft 2 had such a good story with such charming characters.
The only good characters were some of the Terran side, Stukov, Abathur and Alarak.
And no. It had a horrible story devoid of everything that made the first game cool.

What the fuck were they thinking?
>>
>>744551564
They didn't.
People earlier told them since HoTS that this direction was plain bad. They ignored it sadly.
>>
>>744551303
She didn't have shit. There were feral zerg left and right and with her control over swarm being a mere fraction compared to what Overmind and its cerebrates had. Her sparing Raynor, Mengsk also made 0 fucking sense.
Face it, broodwar's writing when it comes to Kerrigan is hilariously garbage tier.

>Starcraft 2 had such a good story
Sometimes I wish I could take posts from nu-/v/ back in time to old /v/ to ragebait them.
>>
>>744552352
Again, she had the whole FUCKING SWARM and a Goddamn Cerebrate to help her out here.
She spared Jim and Mengsk because they did not pose a threat to her anymore (and she left the latter one for later).
Again. You are literally forgetting shit.

SC2 Wings of Liberty story was fucking RIPPED to shreds at release for being too generic Disney hero vs villain instead of the much more nuanced story SC told
>>
>>744552471
Okay, maybe I am forgetting shit. But there is no way she had the whole fucking swarm. She likely had a fraction of initial swarm and tons of feral zerg running around with only 1 cerebrate to help her control zerg. 0 growth potential here.

Tychus knew that what he was doing was immoral, he literally says he made a deal with the devil
>>
>>744547712
Why was he forced to take him hostage instead? Idungeddit

Also

SC kind fell victim to something almost every franchise suffers: The setup and mystery are way more interesting than the payoff and revelation.

From Mengsk's perspective Kerrigan the Mary Sue was the last major obstacle in his rule over sector. Her running around sector with her zerg was no good for sovereignty of Mengsk's empire. She and zerg were no longer useful now that both confederates, ued, protoss were out of the game for the time being. Now that he is the status quo Zerg needed to be put down for good to sustain his rule that means killing Kerrigan. Bitch needed to be put down before she killed him eventually, Mengsk had to kill her somehow. Raynor and whoever Tychus were small time train robbers in comparison to what kerrigan could do. Tychus, being his inside man, he was supposed to manipulate Raynor into killing Kerrigan but shit went south and Kerrigan was spared. This makes Mengsk shit bricks and immediately bring the hammer down upon the Queen and kill her at all costs by raiding the research facility thingy she was in right after Char campaign. Being the protagonist Kerrigan obviously survives, forcing Mengsk to keep Raynor as an insurance against Kerrigan in case she comes back to threaten him with zerg armies. Which she did.
>>
>>744552634
It makes sense in the aspect that he could use Raynor as a hostage.

But they messed up the story since he wasn’t kept anywhere near him to actually protect himself.
>>
I think a big problem is Blizzard's trademark story scope creep. A sequel always has to outdo the original in spectacle, and everything ends up being a world/universe-ending threat. I would love another starcraft that kept things small.
