Was there anything more evil than emulating a modern system with modern games they want to still sell you for 60 dollars right now?
>>744544804yesselling 20 year old games for 80 bucks or under a subscription system that makes them inaccessible if you cancel the subscription. Wild huh
Yeah, wanting to own the things you purchase. Doesn't get more evil than that.
>>744544804charging consumers for tariffs and then pocketing the refunds is pretty evil
Yes Making people play on locked down systems
>>744544804Yes. Playing modern games.
>>744544804Oh I know! Buying the game for that console but not actually buying the console itself and emulating it!
>>744544804>Was there anything more evil than emulating a modern system with modern games they want to still sell you for 60 dollars right now?Yeah, modern copyright which holds simple ideas in a 100 year jail.
no that's probably the most evil thing someone can do i think
>>744544804You’re confusing the words “illegal” and “evil”.
Yuzu team admins stifled 3DS emulator development with malicious dcma requests of any competing forks over "gpl compliance" and even got freaking chinese file hosters and youtube video comments to comply with their requests, were hostile to CEMU over open source / patreon of a dead console emulator released one year after Nintendo gave up on the console and achieving Zelda BoTW playable framerate eight months after release, accused him of every software sin, then did way worse with their patreon - taunted Nintendo with leaked games constantly for 7 entire years- constantly accused ryujinx of stealing their work while they stole theirs- tried to launch a closed source (their rules no longer matter to them) online play emulation where you have to pay yuzu a $60 subscription, not only not free but also more expensive than the official thing i kid you not, and using pretendo's online preservation service, so pretendo was forced to announce they're shutting down. Yuzu ragequit and did not make online play open source.- set up an LLC on the event nintendo would sue them, so that they keep the money- tried to deflect blame for the ToTK leaks to ryujinx and took them.down with them- gave the rights for yuzu and citra to nintendo, which is now dmca'ing every project using "their" code- dragged down numerous minor contributors in the mess, as part of the settlement they deleted all nintendo related github content and there was a lot of obscure but very important projects purged with no backups- encouraged a nasty new status quo where devs will just lay low just for self preservation like with how secretive and painfully slow ps4 emulation was early on
Yeah. Being a tendie
>>744548981GBA and DS got emulators very early too and this enraged nintendo (the GBA one was ready before even the console in Europe) and for the DS one just like the N64 one they went through the same dance of sending vaguely intimidating messages to the dev to spook him into stopping except the GBA and DS emulators theived somehow under new management (despite how retarded the desmume new lead was, not allowing multiplayer and dsi because pokemon or some retarded reason)But the citra/yuzu devs were a net negative. Not only did they ruin their emulator they ruined 3ds emulation in other ways and tried to ruin wii u emulation with constant drama over how keys are illegal. Which indirectly caused trouble to the dolphin project, which they loved to cite in "this is illegal but everyone is doing it so we'll totally be fine, let's point it out more"They're a reason why sharing transferrable shader caches to remove game stutter, or texture packs, is banned in so many emulation forums (during their cemu whitchunt) despite how xbox official emulation makes use of it to improve performance massively. On its own, that online play paywall that surpassed nintendo's greed is one for the books
